Clover's Pantheon-The Tale Of A Longlasting Grudge

Finally made one of these...

The two nichelings stared at eachother, eyes locked like a padlock on a shed door. Their claws came out, and vile hissing noises flew through the air.

One was death and decay, representing everything demented and wrong in this world.

The other was hope, made of peace and glowing as if he were created from the happiness of creatures themselves.

"You made me this way!" The rotting one hissed, her long tongue uncoiling from the back of her throat as her jaws unhinged like she was to strike at any second.

"You did this to yourself, sister!" The one of light bit back, standing tall and proper.

He represented everything the rotting one hated in this life, everything she despised.

"I'll make you pay!" She hissed, clumps of flesh and fur falling from her skeletal frame.

"If it's the last thing I do!"

Those were the last words ever spoken between the two.

Two worlds were born that day.

One world was filled with happiness and peace, one where all creatures never had to fret about a thing.

The other was filled with hatred and disgust, a world where even the youngest of creatures already felt the urge to end their lives, a world where the tainted souls spent eternal suffering.

The one of hope loved his world.

The rotting one would never let it rest.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-The Afterlives-

These worlds contain three forms of afterlife, all depend on what you did in life.

-Hulia-

Hulia isn't a place, but a process. Good nichelings get to experience Hulia.

Hulia is what happens when a good nicheling dies. The soul of the nicheling doesn't go anywhere, not to some fancy place where they live happily ever after, but they stay upon the earth. They become the earth and everything on it. It all depends on what element you are born with. Element affects a nichelings every decision, from what they love to what they hate. There are countless different elements.

For example; If a nicheling is born with some sort of water element, they become part of the sea upon death. They become the seaweed, or the leeches, or the sand.

These nichelings will live out their afterlives like this, until they are picked to be reincarnated. They can become nichelings again. Some souls wait centuries, for there are billions of good nichelings, and only a few get reincarnated every year. It's a privilage, to be a nicheling.

-Bekatu-

Bekatu is something that The Rotting One wishes she could have created. Strangely enough, The One Of Hope created Bekatu.

Bekatu is where the bad go when they die.

Bekatu is horrible, honestly. It's a landscape of endless dark red liquid, like a sea of blood. You can't drown in it, at least not physically, but it can definitely suck you in. There are several places to perch, dry land made from the snapped off bones of some giant, ancient creature. This place is completely silent. The nichelings are left alone with their thoughts, forced to think about the atrocities they've commited.

In Bekatu, you never heal from what you died from. You got your throat torn open? Well, the wound will still be there, flooded with black ooze that drips down your fur.

Since there's only so many bones, most just swim. Swim in the sea of black blood. Some find it relaxing, in a strange way.

You can never return from Bekatu.

-Jusetti-

Jusetti is where gods, goddesses and demi-gods go upon death.

Jusetti is a strange place. It can be percieved basically however one wants. You wanna be in a forest? There you go. Ocean? Done.

Jusetti is peaceful. You live comfortably. They earned it after all, right?

The One Of Hope

God Of Creation

-No picture available-

The one of hope-real name unknown-is one of the two deities who created these worlds. He is The Rotting One's brother, and is said to shine so bright that he blinds even nichelings who cannot see. He is the size of twelve islands, and carries himself with his head held high. He bears a gentle smile, and his presence brings joy to everyone around him. To this day, nobody can fathom how he shares blood with The Rotting One

-Family-

His only known family is The Rotting One, his dreaded sister. Though she has done nothing but bad, The One Of Hope still wonders guiltily if he could have helped her. Not a day goes by where he doesn't agonize over his lost sibling.

-Element-

The One Of Hope contains all elements inside him, though at the same time he contains no exact element. He created the elements, after all.

The Rotting One

Goddess Of Creation

-No picture available-

The Rotting One created the second world, the world where the tainted go when their lives come to an end. She is made of decay, clumps of her flesh falling to the ground below. She is said to always carry the stench of death and rot, which suffocates the lungs of anyone near. She towers over all, her eyes a milky white mixed with a deep crimson. She loathes her brother, hates him with every fiber of her being. She'll get him one day.

-Family-

Her only known family is The One Of Hope, and they don't exactly get along. She hates her brother more than anything in the universe, and will stop at nothing until everything he has created is wiped out. He was always better than her, after all. She was always the bad one. So why not live up to that, right?

-Element-

The Rotting One contains no element, as she wouldn't accept one even if her brother had offered. She wants nothing to do with his disgusting ways.

Shark

God Of The Ocean

732802725_Sharkboi.png.4fa5a84484dde98a137b3d7d4a746b23.png

Shark was born in the Gifar tribe, one that was overflowing with nichelings. He was named for the fact that he looked as though he was covered in the blood of his enemies-great parents, I know. He was admired for his strange ability to catch and kill the razorania, even though it seemed nobody else could. Leeches were a serious problem, and therefore razorania were as well. Everyone looked up to him, and he soon became an important figure in their tribe.

He left to the next island, and his last moments were spent how he lived-fighting the razorania.

Any nicheling with underwater breathing is blessed by Shark, as well as anyone who can catch the razorania.

-Family-

Parents-Sand(M), Unknown(F)

Mate-Unknown(F)

Children-Bloodstone(M), Bloodlust(M), Unknown Children

-Element-

Even from a young age, Shark always felt connected to the ocean. He was the first nicheling in the tribe to breathe underwater, and maybe even the first in the One Of Hope's world. His element is less water, and more the freedom that one has in such a large expanse.

Blade

God Of Plague

Blade.png.a2fb1beb64966a4375e2047b94501707.png

Blade was born in the Cooketri tribe. He immediately stood out for several reasons, his fur color, his green eyes, but most know him for his illness. He was deemed an outcast from early on, rejected by even his own mother. He was unloved, though love was the one thing he wanted. The only one who ever bothered to grow close to him was a female by the name of Penelope.

Blade grew a deep resentment for those around him, who were disgusted by his very existence. Nobody cared for him. But that was alright, he didn't care for any of them either. He devised a plan, one that would end his heartless tribe in one fell swoop. His tribe was big, huge, even. It didn't take much for him to infect someone, and for his illness to spread from there. It killed them all, faster than anyone could avoid it.

He killed Penelope himself. He loved her, and didn't want her to suffer like the rest. She was granted a quick death.

Blade died from his own sickness, and when he awoke, he wasn't surprised. What greeted him was Bekatu, the endless sea of nothingness. He would never recover from his sickness, even in death, but at least he had it better than some others.

He went on to create an actual plague, one that haunted and lingered for milennia. They named it the Bladara plague, after the god himself. It was extremely deadly, killing nichelings in a maximum of two days. But that's another story.

-Family-

Parents-Ceda(F), Vannil (M)

Siblings-None

Mate-Penelope(F)

Children-None

-Element-

Blade, strangely enough, was born without a trace of element in his body. Some tales say that he was born with the element of heart, but as his tribe grew more and more bitter towards him, that heart corrupted into a craving. A craving to be loved, a desperate, hopeless wish for some sort of happiness. That wish was never granted, unfortunately.

Genevieve

Goddess of Misfortune

Genevieve.png.33ff56e3a9386c100f8217d7e2c0b97b.png

Genevieve was born in a nameless tribe.

She was birthed on the outskirts of the territory, supposedly to be kept secret, though nobody could figure out why her parents wanted to conceal her from the rest of the tribe. Unfortunately, just a week or two later, a bearyena discovered their hiding place. Genevieve's parents were slaughtered, and the little one barely got away herself.

She was found the next day by a couple of nichelings passing by, who brought her back to the tribe so she could get her wounds treated in a safe place. Lareko, one of the tribe's leaders, decided to take her in, raising Genevieve in place of her lost parents.

Genevieve's title of 'misfortune' came in the form of being framed for the death of an ex-tribemate, one who died shortly after being exiled. A strict rule in the tribe was that murder is never the answer, unless acting self-defense.

Genevieve was exiled, being tossed out into the wild to fend for herself yet again. She felt betrayed, hurt, confused. Not even Lareko tried to defend her. She decided to take revenge.

Her actions were small at first-digging holes that unsuspecting nichelings would trip over, stealing berries off of bushes, snatching rabbils from right under their noses. Until they became more extreme.

She started to resort to doing actual harm-luring bearyenas to the camp, ambushing lone nichelings, setting traps for unaware tribemates that ultimately led to them dead in the grass.

Her punishment came to her from Raname, a nicheling that had always suspected Genevieve had something to do with the 'accidents'. She beat Genevieve at her own game, trapping the female in one of her own traps.

Genevieve found herself in Bekatu. She was honestly surprised-surely what she had done wasnt THAT bad, right? She heard someone whisper in her head, and she grew more and more doubtful that she was in the right.

She eventually accepted the fact that she was a terrible person. She is often found staring into the dark sky of Bekatu, watching as the black clouds rolled in, waiting for the next bloodstorm.

She is very close to Blade, and its nearly impossible to see them even an inch away from eachother. They take great comfort in one-another.

-Family-

Parents-Unknown(F), Unknown(M), Lareko(F)

Siblings-None

Mate-Unknown(M) (briefly)

Children-None

-Element-

Genevieve honestly never figured out her element. She had a suspicion that it was Dependence, but she very much wanted to rule that out. She couldnt bear to admit that she was attached to anyone.

Carrion

Goddess of Revenge

Untitled43.thumb.png.c04247632dd37f1e7a65732c6f18b2e1.png.6978a30909ea66e7671f4ce305f99ad8.png

(i should really redraw this art, srdtfygiuhoijo)

Carrion was born in a nameless savannah tribe.

She was born with the name 'Akriah', and it was only changed after what happened later.

When Akriah was born, her whole tribe planned to feed her to the birds. She wasnt fit for savannah life-she was big and fluffy, with an even fluffier tail. They just didnt have room for someone so useless.

Her father Jenka defended her, and the tribe decided to give her one last chance.

Well, her chance was ruined. Not far into her childhood, Akriah got trapped in a raging fire, one that left her with horrible burns-one of them being bad enough to permenantly disfigure just over half of her face.

Her mother-Ria-rejected her, renaming her 'Carrion' purely in cold blood. Everyone hated Carrion, even Jenka was distant with her.

Later, Ria and Jenka had the perfect little boy. One with features that would keep him alive in the savannah.

They forgot all about Carrion, instead focusing on their son.

One day, when the birds flew overhead, Carrion tossed her brother into the open. Nobody even noticed until one of the massive birds snatched the little one, struggling effortlessly away from Jenka's desperate attempts to stop it.

Carrion pretended she was inside the entire time.

Not long after, another destructive fire broke out.

Both Ria and Jenka were caught in it, along with several other nichelings. They were merely trapped by bushes and rocks. They begged Carrion to let them out, to break what was blocking their only path of survival. She just stood and watched as her parents and tribemates burned.

After the fire went out, Carrion snuck down to the ash, searching through it for the remains of her tribemates. She found Ria's skull, and put it over her head, almost like it was some sort of demented trophy.

After many more fires and deaths, the tribe was forced to flee to the mountains, where every last one perished. A balance bear caught the last few, and again, Carrion never helped. She easily killed the beast after her tribemates were dead, though.

After she left the mountains, her life was merely a mess of murder, manipulation, and migration. She never stayed somewhere for long.

She thought she had fallen in love for a while-with a pretty female named Nutalie. That ended soon enough, after Nutalie realized Carrion was only using her for her own personal gain. Carrion got her revenge soon after, though.

Many moons later, she discovered that her tribe hadnt perished after all. A single nicheling had escaped from the literal jaws of death, and had fled the mountains around the same time as Carrion herself. He had started the tribe again in another savannah.

Oh, getting rid of her tribe again would be fun.

Unfortunately, she didnt think the whole thing through.

Maybe fighting next to the abyss of an ocean wasnt the best idea.

-Family-

Parents-Ria(F), Jenka(M)

Siblings-Unnamed(M)

Mate-Nutalie(F) (briefly)

Children-None

-Element-

It was no secret that Carrion's element was Devestation, even from the moment she was born. Just another reason that her tribe had to get rid if her.

Sunglow

Goddess of Love and Beauty

Sunglow.thumb.jpg.38213557c823fbd7c90fa82f2f354dc5.jpg

Sunglow was born in Talonclan, an ancient tribe that worshipped the spirit Dyûn. Her father was known as the most attractive creature any of them had ever laid eyes on, and she didn't disappoint either.

She grew up in a tribe that conditioned her to be perfect, punishing her when she couldn't get something right. She was supposed to be an offering to Dyûn, after all. The spirit wouldn't take an imperfect creature.

Life wasn't easy for her. Whenever she expressed feeling upset, others would just say how good she had it, and to stop being ungrateful. Most would kill to be in her place. But, nobody understood-she never wanted any of it. She didn't like being treated as if she were an object, not being allowed to make her own choices or live her own life.

She spent much of her life sitting in the same spot, watching life pass her by as she was held back from living normally. She hated it. She hated her tribe.

One day, she decided to run away. To finally escape the hold her tribe had on her, and be free.

She nearly lost that chance.

During her escape, she lost her footing at the river and hit her head on a stepping stone. She would have died if someone didn't save her.

When she awoke a while later, she discovered a male named Kirkin. He informed her that he was fishing when he saw her fell in, and rescued her before she bled out or got swept away. He offered to take her back to her tribe, but she lied and said she didn't have one.

They decided to return to Kirkin's home, a small burrow under a tree stump. They lived there together for a long time.

Kirkin told stories of his past, and why he was now alone. Sunglow told stories of her hardships and the wishes she made back when she still had hope that things would change.

Ultimately, the two fell in love, and had no plans of ever being seperated.

However, many moons later, a few nichelings from Talonclan picked up Sunglow's scent. They followed it back to the burrow, and forcefully brought Sunglow back with them.

Kirkin wasn't around to defend her, as he was out hunting at the time.

Back at Talonclan, the tribe gathered at the temple of Dyûn, ready to present to him their offering. As in 'offering' it wasn't like a sacrifice, but a creature that could bear the spirit's children. This was the spirit of perfection, he wasn't going to just take anyone. His offspring had to be perfect.

The tribe tossed Sunglow to the shrine at the back of the temple, watching as Dyûn appeared in a misty haze.

Just before he accepted the offering, he noticed something. She wasn't perfect. She was already carrying offspring.

Outraged, Dyûn destroyed the temple, and executed all of Talonclan. Sunglow barely made it out, being found by Kirkin as she passed out from exhaustion by the river.

The two lived happy lives together, happily raising their children in peace.

When she passed, she was granted the title of Goddess of Love and Beauty.

-Family-

Parents- Rosebriar (M), Larare (F)

Siblings- Dustspine (F), Crackerjaw (F)

Mate- Kirkin (M)

Children- Firmask (F), Timberpaw (M), Flaxpaw (F), Hazelpaw (M), Fernpaw (M), Stormpaw (M)

-Element-

Ironically, Sunglow's element was Imperfection. No wonder Dyûn rejected her.
