Asking because I genuinely don’t know. Why do people like to end off sentences with “—“? Are they expecting an immediate comment back at it? Is it because the comment is in improper English and thus it cannot be ended in a conventional sentence stopper?

When I use it it's more like an interruption of speech than anything else or shock.
