This would be a body gene and it would have a pouch like a kangaroo, with this a female nicheling can give birth without being on a nest and for a while after they give birth the baby can go in and out of the pouch and be carried around.

Only female nichelings can have this gene

I quite like this idea! I thought also, instead of just females having this gene, Males can also carry it, but can use it to carry items/food as sorta an extra energy, and can give stored items/food to the tribe to contribute to the food counter. Otherwise, good job with the idea!
