  1. To progress to harder islands, just keep going north.
    Most islands have 3 ports.
The west port takes you to an easier island. The north one takes you to harder ones. And the east one takes you to islands the same difficulty.
If there's no north port, just go east until you get to an island with a north port.

  2. The mutation menu is one way.

And you can always just not breed with derp snout nichelings

Or you can learn to like derp snout since it can be useful in other ways.
It gives distasteful appearance, so predators will be detoured.

  3. 1. Invite them in. I hate wanderers because they always steal my resources. At least inviting them in will allow me to use them to collect food or clear the grass away.

    2. Let the blue bird take it. If it survives the baby stage, then just let it collect food in isolation. Probably pick toxic berries or cactus.

    3. I have nichelings with +1 strength all the time when I first start out because I like nimble finger better than claw. Just have all ur nichelings swarm it for lots of food. The bearyenna won't kill any nichelings in just a day.

    4. Wait till they get on the port

    5. Invite the baby in. I have tons of food anyway, and I'd rather have the baby grow up nice instead of mean. Just let it wander around. At least it doesn't steal my berries like wandering nichelings.

  4. What I do is I have the mom make her nest near a berry bush, and then she can pick berries while also protecting the baby from birds. Maybe have your breeding nichelings next to the food (berries and acorn trees), and send the babies away to clear away the grass? Clearing the grass is definitely worth it because then you can see from farther away. You'll also have more nesting material to build more nests. To save on nesting material, instead of letting old nests rot away... you can repair the nest for 3 grass, or you can destroy the nest and get some of your material back.

Also, I wouldn't really recommend cracker jaw and nimble finger on the same nicheling. Nimble finger gives cracking skill, so maybe use the head gene for something else. I recommend either big nose so you can smell more things from far away, or poison fang so that you can pick the poison berries safely.

Try to attack some rabbits to unlock the ram horn gene. Ram horn and medium body will give you +2 strength. That way you can OHKO the rabbits and eat them for food.

I don't really recommend trying to specialize into flying or swimming tribes if you're just beginning. Wings are good for moving around quickly, but then it's hard to gather food. Wait until you unlock other genes that can be paired with wing, like bearyenna leg, fishing tail, or bird beak. And swimming nichelings are cool, but in my opinion the water biomes are quite bare.

  5. It's p normal for me to have food in the thousands because i usually have large tribes n i tell all the nichelings to collect food.
The jungle biomes were hard for me because i didn't want to collect the food from the nice plants and turn them into mean plants, my food dipped like 800 but that's ok. It got back up on the next island.

Recently, I got to the home island by going to whale island.
Told the whale to take me to the crossing, and then went north from there.

I think the main issue is that people expect too much from the game developers. There are some ideas that may prove too difficult and time consuming, especially where they are trying to put more focus into their other works. Though I think its a great thing that this community has a bounty of ideas for future updates, its not fair to the people who have put so much work into the game to say you're quitting because they wont implement the one thing you wanted. I understand completely being frustrated and no longer playing the game if it no longer interests you, but I feel like there's no need to act like its the game developers fault that what's currently in the game isn't holding your attention. Sorry for the rant, I've just been playing this game for so long and seen how much the makers have put into it that it hurts me to see people saying that it's not enough.

No harsh feelings meant here, just something I wanted to get off my chest. Feel free to respond if you feel differently.

I'd be fine if they didn't even implement new things.
I just mostly want them to tweek old things.
Make it more clear which tiles will take you to the next island
In-game explanations for genes or mobs, so you're not always visiting the niche wiki trying to figure stuff out

I'm sure this kind of stuff can't be all that hard.
Not like making new 3d models for new genes.
Or coding new behaviors in new predators.

I just feel like adding new stuff without improving these old problems will make things harder and more complicated for new players

  7. 1. By "hectic" do you mean that the family tree gets too large hard to read? Hard to remember who is related to who?
I deal with that by not caring. Just have everybody breed with anybody who has different immunity.

    2. I don't have gods or goddesses

    3. You probably won't like the names I use.
I don't like constantly checking between the two animals to see if they have good enough genes to make a healthy child.
Example of a male with H and F immunity might be named "M-HF" for short in my tribe.
Don't even need to click the females to see who's safe to breed with. Just hover mouse over them.
Example of a safe female would be "F-KC". The male has immunities H and F, breeding with immunities K and C is safe.

  8. That's exciting. What are you most excited about? What do you want to be added the most?

Me? Like, new genes are cool and all... But what I really want are quality of life updates.
Things like more specific notifications, telling you which gene you unlocked.
Better explanations telling what genes do what. I was really confused with peacock tail and purr snout when I first started.
The ability to tell which islands you've already visited.
Children inheriting their gemstone colors, so you don't have to change them every time they grow up one stage.

  9. So, I love nimble finger. It's super useful for collecting berries.
But I don't like how if you want your nichelings to be good at collecting, you HAVE to have nimble finger.

If you want your niches to be good at swimming, you don't HAVE to have water body.
You can use webbed feet, webbed paw, swimming tail, or tailfin.
That's 4 different options. Body, hand, foot, and tail genes.

If you want your nichelings to be strong, you don't HAVE to have claw.
You can have big body, spiky body, horns/anthlers, sabertooth fangs, bearyenna head, bearyenna legs, or hammer tail.
That's 6 different options! Body, head, horn, hand, foot, and tail.

But with gathering, it's mostly limited to the hand genes.
Yeah there's bird beak, but that's only +1 collecting.
I don't like having to be forced to have 2 nimble fingers to be good at collecting, I want more options like the other genes.

So that's why I'm proposing nimble feet.
So we have more options with the collecting skill.
    Adds +2 collecting.
    Looks like monkey feet.

  10. OK so I've been playin for a while, and the nichelings have two islands occupied (I'm slow at expanding)

This first island is where we started from.
Somehow it has a lot of derp snouts. It just ended up that way.
I think it's cool how we started with only 1 derp snout nicheling, but it obviously spread!

That orange spikey body nicheling in the center is an outsider we welcomed in.
He's been havin quite a few babies. You can see a few of his spikey body or cracker jawed children hanging close.image.thumb.png.9415104673fe8173e7fe49dab9a01392.png
This is the second island we have occupied.
I only let the good children move on to the next island and have kids.
That means they had to have good eyes, nimble fingers, ram horns, and at least 1 big ear gene.
A few of the nichelings here have wings, that's because we let in an outsider with a wing. I'm trying to get nimble fingers back in.
The nichelings here are much more cute.
I'm only going to let children with big ears move on to the next island.

I think if you go east, you can come back later. If you go north you can probably loop back around, but going east is probably easier.

OK. I think that's what I'll do then...
I really think the archipelago is a great place to settle and build the capitol city... just I'm not ready yet.
I just worry ppl will think I'm a wimp for playin on the easy islands.
Of course it's easy to gather 2500+ food in those kinds of places! OTL

    Ohhhh nooooo. It's the archipelago
I like the archipelago and think it's a good place to set up Nichetopia. (it's huge, so much space)
But I'm not ready for it yet! I wanted my tribe to be a bit more homogeneus before I settled here.

Ummm... If I travel north can I still come back here later?
Or do I have to go east?
