  1. Hi! I know I'm a little late to this but I'd love to help! I've played Niche for a long time and I have beta tested for another game you might know: Wolf Quest 3, Anniversary Edition. I'd love to play this because 1.) It sounds fun and 2.) I can (and have) used my beta testing hours as community service hours. If I can play a new version of one of my favorite games and have it count for college, win win!

I have a few different ways of possibly playing. I have two old androids, but I don't think either of them would actually be good enough- one is a shakey 5.1.1., and the other is a 4.4.2. that runs smoothly. Instead, I do have a PC that can definitely hold mobile game quality. I'd love to help out!

    Dear pack

As you know the Sandbox Settings Update has recently been released on the main branch, yay :D
Now you may be wondering what comes next for Niche, so we wanted to give you a little update!

There won't be any big new updates for the PC game in the coming months.
However we have 2 cool things to share with you ^^

    1) We are currently working on a prototype to bring a brand new game set in the Niche universe to mobile!
These are very early mockup screenshots. The game focuses less on survival and more on breeding.
Please note however that we will only finish and release this game if we think we can make something very cool out of it and its still too early to tell.

Larissa is the game designer and artist for the Niche mobile game.
Here you see her (left) playing the paperprototype with me :D

    2) We're currently trying to port the game to Switch! For that we need a frozen version,
which means we can't really update the game for now (except for bug fixes).
Please note that here again nothing is 100% sure yet!

It might be a bit early to share all this with you, since the outcome of both projects is still uncertain.
However we wanted to tell you what we're currently working on :)

    @cotanbunny
    Thanks for reporting!
Could you give us some more infos on how this happened?
Did you use the console commands or change the settings in sandbox mode?

Sorry, didn't see this! It was a while ago I dont really remember, I had set them all to "randomize between 0 and x days old" and they all happened to spawn on day 0. For whatever reason my little female just threw a fit and decided she wasn't moving from her block or aging up that day.

The both-plants-play-animation thing was something I reported in the main branch. So this means it still hasn't been fixed :(

while i was looking for that post I found an old glitch i reported back at that time where a skeleton could see. That was creepy. I wonder if it's been fixed...

Oh thanks- I'm sure they'll fix it they're super fast at these things. Until then, more roleplay aspect!

She was probably just a day younger. That happens from time to time :)

I appreciate the suggestion, but I don't think they can get younger than zero days- maybe Im not sure but I havent seen that so far- thanks either way.

  6. I had four nichelings spawn in- 1 male 3 females. All three females spawned in as 0 days old. I clicked on one of the females and she immediately put her head down. The other two where able to more freely.  I am positive that they where all the same age, but that one female could not move for a day (shes a medium body in the jungle, she did not overheat) but when I scrolled back over the ages, it said she was 2 days while the other three nichelings progressed 3 days (it ad been three days). Perhaps she is a goddess of youth.

  7. Version 1.1.9. (Who could have guessed) Man Eating plant glitch.

I wanted to throw in a picture but my computer is being weird and wont let me. Basically one of my Bat-headed Nichelings walked over too two plants that where side by side. Only one was close enough to grab him but they both played the grabbing animation.

I noticed that if I stop two blocks away and then step one closer, I can attack the plant- but this does not always work. I do not know if that part is a glitch but I figured I would throw it in. I have also had a double claw nicheling attack the plant, it takes the hit and the nicheling. Other times I have had a weaker nicheling attack and it does not take my nicheling. Still don't know if it is a glitch.

  8. I have heard rumor and saw a youtuber with it- you can insert names you want to appear later, through babies or wanderers. I heard something like "dig through game files" and I think someone may have already answered this but couldn't find it. I'd love to have custom names or access to those extra settings- any tips?

For the wanderers thing, I swear I’ve seen that suggestion on here before, this is the closest I could find:

As for the mobile thing, the devs have unfortunately already said that there are no current plans for mobile due to the large amount of programming effort it would take.

    Oh alrighty- thanks.

  10. Ideas! I don't know if this would make getting new/rare genetics too easy, but what if there where pregnant females wanderers? Maybe they would collect their own grasses, start their own tribe type thing. Maybe if they where super strong they could throw my female out of her nest if she was too far from others. Wandering nichelings could decide their mates, travel together, attack together, hunt collect and raise wandering children

Any male from my tribe can mate with any wandering female he finds, visa versa for wandering males, without having to invite them in. What if a wanderer sized up a tribal nicheling based on things like attractiveness, strength, and similar/better genes? Don't know how hard this would be to throw in there but I really like the idea.

I think the "Offer 5 food" thing is very easy- perhaps some nichelings know they're better off, and need more food. Maybe some can be brought in when breed with- staying for their new family. Some nichelings that cannot collect may know their place and require less food, if any at all.

  11. My characters will sometimes just decide to not move- they'll put their heads down and I loose a turn. No sleeping sickness, no rhyme or reason. They're just sassy. Also idea: I want to make wild Nichelings that can show up, but I might not want as my starter Nicheling(s). I am not sure how to do this or if its even an option. I've showed this game to a few friends and the first question I get is always "Is this on Mobile?". There is a large, untapped audience waiting for you on mobile- I used to dream of games like this when I was little (Weird child, yes) but alot of people are more casual, and would not want to spend 10 dollars on a game they can only play on computer. Great game, though! -Beef
