    • As an apology for not keeping up with the every other day upload schedule I've been trying to keep, here's a long update! - “Dumb grass” He grumbled as he whipped his tail around to free it from the grass it’d gotten stuck in…only for it to get tangled further. “Ughhhh” He groaned, flopping onto his side with a look of defeat as he wondered if there was a chance he would just die here. Imagine that, a royal nicheling of his status losing his life to a tangle of grass; what a revolting and mortifying fate that would be!   Just as he was considering doing more than moping, a sound of rustled grass caught his attention. He lazily turned his head only to startle into a standing position when a pure white creature with blood-red eyes was less than a tail-length away from his face. “I swear I didn’t mean to be so rude upon your death!” He knows he shouldn’t of been so cruel, that sickly nicheling’s spirit came back to haunt him! The other nicheling jolted back with a look of astonished confusion. “My death?? Oh! It must be the fur and the eyes” The nicheling recovered with shocking speed for someone who just got accused of being a ghost by someone who was losing to some plants.   “You’re…not some apparition come to haunt me for being impolite?” He slowly lifted his head from its lowered position the look with wary intrigue. “Nope! Just born like this” The nicheling gave him a friendly smile that made the royal beam right back. “It must be quite rare, as a royal I have to talk to my subjects often and I’ve never seen someone like you!” With absolutely no awareness of how that could be rude, he spoke with no second thought but thankfully this nicheling just felt amused. “I’ve never seen someone like me either, mom said it was a surprise because her and dad have darker pelts” She said, recalling the story her mom told her of how she considered her a blessing.   “Have you seen any Kingdoms around here? I’m sure they’ll know who I am” The royal asked as he realized this nicheling may know more about the area than him. The other nicheling shook her head with a laugh. “No, and can’t you at least tell me your name before telling me your status? I’m Snowberry and I can guess that you’re pretty important where you’re from than” She was unbothered by what most would consider a snub, just happy to find a nicheling that was so different. So unfocused on pure survival, in fact he seemed to worry about his appearance if his shining scales were any indicator.   “Oh of course! I’m Lord Blizten of House Fin, heir of Lady Rudolph” He stood tall with pride over his title and heritage, a sign of exactly what he deserved in life, only to be left staring when Snowberry looked confused. “That’s a lot of…stuff. Is a lord like a group’s leader?” She still wanted to be polite even if all that was practically nonsense to her. All she could pick up was that it’s important. “I- I guess? They make a bunch of important decisions right?” Blizten had never met a nicheling who was unaware of him, or his title. It was unfathomable, but if this nicheling was being honest it would be unbecoming of a Lord to be irritated so easily. “Basically yes, but they also make sure everyone is well taken care of” Snowberry replied, happy that she seemed to guess correctly. “Then yes, just like that!” He was relieved that his status had been properly recognized.   “Well we better find a way to get you back home then! Your group must be worried about you” Snowberry nodded for him to follow before padding off with certainty. “Where exactly are we going?” The royal asked as he took a step forward only to fall back with a huff as his tail remained stuck in the grass. “Oh right, lemme get that for you” She turned around and approached him with her left paw outstretched, making him notice the claws. He felt uneasy at such sharp things going near him considering past assassination attempts he’s dealt with but held still as she used them to cut the grass from his tail. “To answer your question, I saw you have a nest so I figured we’d get some rest before we go looking for anyone that might know something” She said, taking a step back as Blizten glanced at his now free tail.   “How did you know of my nest?” Maybe she was an assassin in disguise, it would explain such friendliness. “I was passing by the area earlier and recognized your scent as the same one” She could see the wariness in his expression and hoped her answer would soothe it. She feels she hasn’t shown any signs of malice but she knows how nichelings can be with strangers, her right paw was a permanent reminder of those dangers. “Oh” Blizten hadn’t expected that answer and realized he might be a little silly considering she didn’t even know what a Lord is, so she lacked the motive to kill him in the first place.   “Well I’m sleeping in the nest, I found it” He insisted as he felt he needed his beauty sleep or else his scales would lose their shine. “I don’t mind sleeping on the grass” Snowberry was completely unbothered. She had no need for a nest when she traveled the island so much, a permanent sleeping spot would only hinder her. Blitzen nodded and led the way.   Perhaps he could start his own Kingdom, he already had one member!
