I like this! Though, could it also be a feature that could be toggled in gameplay? Like, setting, and then slide up or down and stuff? Because if I was just starting out, I think it'd be nice to have a little bit of peace to raise a few generations before death strikes.

yes, this option would be like a button that says "change aggressiveness" or something. If not toggled, the game plays normally.

  2. are those bears in the grass getting a little too close to your nursery? tired of birds always snatching your babies? is that goddamn razorania eATING EVERYONE THAT COMES NEAR THE WATER??

    WELL FEAR NOT!

i believe a good option is to bring down (or up, for challenges) the level of aggressiveness for "red" entities.

    Example 1:

Your starting pair lands on a small jungle. As your male steps into the grass, he is greeted by a large red plant, with an evil odor. You brace yourself for the nicheling to be scooped into the plants mouth, but nothing happened. Of course! The "Entity aggressiveness level" was set to 1! the plant will not attack you for 1 day. But sit there too long, and it might just snatch your beauties!

    Example 2:

You're tribe has conquered a killer grass island! Everyone has at least 9 strength, and can tear apart any predator! However, you long for more challenges, and adventures. How about setting that aggressiveness level to 5? The bears spawn more frequently, more likely to be killer, stats are brought up, and most of the time, 2 will spawn in one day! Your tribe has trouble surviving on this island, but that's the fun of it!

The "Entity aggressiveness level" can be found when creating a sandbox save. It can either be a drop down of 1-5 (1 being peaceful, 5 being killer) or a drag slide thingy where you drag a white dot to the left for 1 or right for 5 (not sure how to explain lol)

    what do you guys think?

you don't, most of the food items there are too strong(Walrus deer), annoying(balance bear) to catch or not worth your time(Crabbit), also maybe if you attack them or try to with one attack creatures, they die instantly

so you expect us to be able to find food that isnt meat? pretty smart....

I really like your idea, but it would make some things more complicated. For example, what determines when carnivores will make their moves? After all, a bearyena has two moves, and your nichlings have three each. So when do they move? The first two moves of the night? Once at dusk and once at dawn? There is no precedant in the game for this. I would almost think that the predators should move like rabbils at night, but that would be hard to deal with. Also, when would diurnal mothers give birth (and nocturnal at that), and same with deaths, sickness, and damage taken from drowning and poison and bleeding? Would, for the diurnal creatures, it happen at dusk, and for the nocturnal ones, at dawn?

the first 2 moves (or one for balance bear) are when the bearyena moves.

any death, birth, damage, whatever for day nichelings happen like they do in the game, and night nichelings give birth, die, take damage, etc happen once day hits.

its hard to explain, but imagine if day and night were switched in niche and thats how it would work at night.

Okay, this seems cool, but I'm confused. How does the squealing work? You say it works like calling, so normal nichelings would be able to do it on a stump or something..? I just don't get it.

squealing is like callling, so you can do it on a stump or tree, and it works well if you have little smelling or hearing in the tribe

I think this is a really cool idea! Just wondering, if your entire tribe has the Night-seeing Eyes, how would the bunnils move during the day? Would they get a certain number of moves? Would they get an equivalent number of moves to the amount of turns you took? Same thing for all diurnal creatures.

i didnt think about that, i think theyd move based on how many moves you took.

  7. These genes are what allow nichelings to move, see, and interact at night. Ladies, gentlemen, and everyone in between, let me introduce you,

    Echolocation head

    Bat ears

    Night-seeing eyes

    1258079809_Batears.thumb.png.8e350dac37781db724d5a233c5a7486c.png

These are Bat ears. Bat ears allow a nicheling to hear 4 around them, but give no heat resistance(like bog ears do). theyre about the same size as big ears, and are obtainable after "squealing" 25 times (squealing will be explained in the Echolocation head) mostly cosmetic, but still cool.

    452624757_Echolocationhead.thumb.png.39b3560a7e58c0e554ff5e9e857b0b09.png

This is Echolocation head. It looks simialar to a bat's head, and when sitting in a high position (like calling) you can make a squealing noise that allows everything within 3 tiles to become outlined with green, yellow or red (much like smelling/hearing, except it is seen on seeing, so everything around is also in color.) The affect lasts until said nicheling moves from its spot. The nose also has 2 smelling, 1 damage, and distasteful appearance. they are unlocked by squealing 50 times.

    367979994_Nightseeingeyes.thumb.png.19b64124d5d0014ff9dde505b05b3ce1.png

These are Night-seeing eyes. They make a nicheling nocturnal, allowing them to move at night. If your tribe doesnt have this gene present, nights pass normally. IF so, the nights stop long enough for a nicheling with these eyes to move normally. (however, you cant move them during the day.) The gene also makes the eyes look a bit demonic, which can be fun if your going from a story perspective. The nichelings also only move during night if banished, and give birth by the time day comes. the eyes give a nicheling 1 normal sight, and 2 night vision. seeing and smelling apply the same at night.

    How does the night work?

Any animal that would normally move during the day, would stay still at night. Any animal that would move during the night, move according to your nichelings moves. (example, a bunnil would stay still, while a bearyena would move twice, then sleep.)

hope you like it! incase you couldnt tell, i REALLY WANT A NIGHT MODE!! its been an idea since the water update :D

I think that these are great suggestions! I love the idea of having a fire body, huh, I wonder what a fire body would look like in Niche. Might have some flame animations? Upvoted :3

thank you! i imagined it might have some aimation to it, i also imagines lava body would switch from red to orange to yellow like the lava in minecraft does

  9. before we start, Credit to @ILovePunz on twitter for the idea of "Lava body" and "Fire body" credit to me for "Stegosaurus body

    LAVA BODY:

Lava body is a special gene that is only found on Paradise island, and can be unlocked by burning an animal 35 times.

    1749396920_Lavabody.thumb.png.62dc241d44fa82dc0edc8b8da2f91b3a.png

The body cannot be placed in water without taking 1 damage. creatures within 2 tiles become warm or even hot, and creatures within 1 tile take 2 damage after passing a day. They can reproduce, but only with eachother. Babies cannot burn other animals. The burning applies to all other living animals. Birds cannot pick them up. They cannot overheat, they cannot freeze, and they cannot burn. they melt snow/ice from the tile below them, next to them, and the tiles around the tiles next to them. EXTREMELY RESCESSIVE. they can be attacked, but cause damage to the attacker.

    FIRE BODY

Fire body is also special, but can be found on savannas (spawn in fires) and can be unlocked after burning 25 times.

    123712070_Firebody.thumb.png.cad3dfcaeb3689fda5a605c26d5c9f13.png

Fire body can become to cold, and cause the fire to die. this will harm your nicheling. they cannot overheat, and cannot burn. they only hurt nichelings who stay next to them for 2 days. they can reproduce with any nicheling. Babies cannot burn, and cannot be picked up by the bird. they can be attacked, but cause damage to the attacker. They melt snow/ice like heat body does. cannot be placed in water for more than 2 turns without taking damage. EXTREMELY RESCESSIVE.

    STEGOSAURUS BODY:

An ice gene that is unlocked by finding it, works similar to spiky body.1626165676_Stegosaurusbody.thumb.png.115e7f061767fa4157d897aa2cf47601.png

The body can do anything a normal spiky body can do, (defending birds, causing damage to attackers with no defense, etc) but have 1 heat resistance, and are found in ice blocks. equally rescessive to armoured body, and cannot be found on wanderers. they also allow the tail gene, so if you want spiky bodies and tails stego body is for you!

Hope you guys like it! Go check out @ILovePunz on twitter and thank her for the idea of the bodies. Please vote up if you enjoy it!

  10. idk if they changed it, but the archi had REALLY deep water.

and yeah, i think hearing would make sense for creatures who couldnt see to be able to move.

like i said this is just a little idea.

Bats are often bind, so +1 eyesight woudn't make sense

Also what do you mean by deep water? Archipelago has shallow waters.

    Good idea anyways

  11. The dark forest is an Island that is completely covered in oak trees, much like Home Island. However, due to the darkness caused by the trees, its VERY hard to see.

The island is grassland, and about the size of a deadly hills killer island. It has beaches with palm trees, but the water is very deep, like the Archipelago.

When a nicheling steps under an Oak tree, they lose 1 of their sight. (Normal eyes, 2 => 1 Shortisghted, 1=> 0)

So how do you survive this dark island?

There are 3 new genes i have an idea of.

Yes, i am aware there are many posts about echolocation, bat wings, and far sighted eyes, but bearyena with me here (haha see what i did)

The first gene could be a head/ear gene that resembles a bat, and can allow your creatures to see 1+ the original sight. Meaning, under a tree the eyesight would be as usual with the gene.

The second one is an eye gene that gives 4+ sight, and makes the eyes on said creature much wider.

The third gene is bat wings. This gene is simialar to the normal wings, but allow a creature to see 1+ farther, like the bat head/ears

LIKE I SAID I KNOW PEOPLE ARE PROBABLY SAYING THE SAME THING BUT I STILL WANT TO PUT IT OUT THERE FOR THE DEVS!!

Now, i also have an alternativve idea for the island.

an island that NEVER SEES DAY!

THATS RIGHT, ITS NIGHT TIME FOREVER!!

HOW DO YOU SEE? HOW D YOU MOVE? WHAT ABOUT THE BEARS??

YOU SEE WITH THE EYE, HEAD/EAR, AND WING GENES!!

YOU MOVE LIKE A NORMAL NICHELING!!

THE BEARS GET TWO MOVES, THE TWO MOVES ARE DETERMINED BY HOW YOUR NICHELINGS MOVE! (LIKE RABBILS)

ANOTHER COOL THING WOULD BE CLOUDS.

    I WANNA SEE CLOUDS MAN

OH GEEZ THIS IS BECOMING MESSY LETS JUST STICK WITH THE DARK FOREST THING OK

    OK

    BYE NOW
