I found this little guy in a palm tree while on the Archipelago. I'm not sure if it's a bug or just luck, but either way, I'm amused.

Could he ever go down? Something tells me he got so startled when your tribe approached him that he just rushed up there. Or he had very bad winged parents who abandoned him for inheriting a digging paw and having a crippled wing.

  2. Well, its time to reveal my theory! Lilytuft, and the others, you have great speculative abilities! I believe it was the ancient dodomingos! Thanks to their beaks and great architecture skills, the dodomingos were able to build nests that could last forever. Now, dodomingos can no longer be seen building them because their ancestors already did it for them, and because they fear the nichelings will find out. Once the dodomingos built nests on every island, but something wiped out many of them. Many nichelings think that ancient nichelings built these nests, but that is just a lie the dodomingos invented to avoid being turned into nest building slaves for the nichelings!

Unsure if this has been mentioned yet, but I would like to put in my ideas of what could possibly be added to the underwater world.

The Underwater World is super barren right now, only being able to find seaweed, clams, rocks, fish, worms, and leeches.

I have a few ideas of things that could be added to make this world much more lively.

    ISLANDS

Basically, there'd be islands with a ton more water and lots more places to swim compared to your average big island. The island would be small, maybe the size of tiny green, while the rest of the island would be places that can be swam through by Nichelings. Take the grass mingle island for example, cut that to the size of tiny green but leave all that extra island space to the water. Picture example:

    1316969107_NicheIslandIdea.thumb.png.095fe4138001cb4ed48cdd42181aa4a5.png

    PREDATORS

I know that the Razorina is already somewhat of a predator, but they only attack you if you are bleeding. How about, for somewhat of a challenge, have a predator like the Bearyna that will attack you for no other purpose than food. It would have similar behavior like the Bearyna but obviously be different. This creature's name would be the Sharkidile, a cross between a shark and a crocodile. You could also find a mother with a baby and tame the baby for its genes, just like the Bearyna! Here's a picture of what I think it would look like, sorry it's kinda sloppy I rushed it:

    896849697_NichePredatorIdea-Sharkidile.thumb.png.98fc89bad0404d98169bcccadbdefd4c.png

Genes you could get from a friendly Sharkidile:

    - Sharkidile Snout (2+ fishing, 1+ defense, 1+ smelling)

    - Water body (2+ swimming, 1+ scentless, underwater breathing)

    - Fin tail (2+ swimming, -1 Cold resistance)

    - Sharkidile Claw (2+ fishing, 1+ attack, 1+ swimming)

    - Sharkidile Eyes (2+ underwater sight, 1+ dry land sight)

    - Yellow Eyes

    - New Pattern (Overcoat color and undercoat color, affects camouflage in water, +2 camouflage)

    FOOD

Definitely a lot more food needs to be added. More types of fish and things similar to the berry bushes on land. Examples in pics below:579098814_Nicheunderwaterfoodidea2.thumb.png.594815b8912eabd1dcbcba8766cbdf63.png

I'm still currently in the process of thinking of things that could be added to the underwater world of Niche. If I do get more ideas, then be sure to look for for a part 2 to this idea! Please feel free to suggest anything.

I agree! And I love your bettabass! It could be like a beta fish and be really fierce. But Idisagreein the sharkidile hybrid part. Bearyenas are related to nichelings and it makes sense they can breed, but even with how weird and wonderfl niche can be, I think a nicheling breeding with a sharkidile is kind of weird. But maybe there could be a seal- like predator related to the nichelings! In that case, aquatic hybrids would be really cool!

  4. Ohhhhh, I had no idea anger was a thing! Its rally interesting that a balance bear prefers to eat fish than nichelings, and it makes a lot of sense. So you could lure one to a river when fleeing! Also I didn't know it was possible to scare a bear!  I dont know if I understood correctly, but it seems balance bears dont move when its too cold. Is this a reference to hibernating?

Edit: Awwww, I didn't  know dodomigos had a social stat! That's adorable.

Yes! Niche needs less overpowered genes and more "cruel" genes! You have my vote!

(I have actually thought before of things like crippled hind legs, but I knew that wouldn't be popular...)

I really like the way you think

Rogue Males have 2 important motivations: Lust and Fear.
Here is what it looks like in the game xD
This basically says that rogue males are scared by fire and big groups of animals.
Also, they indeed don't like spikyness. Another defense is growling at them or attacking them, which increases their fear.
The reason that old rogue males are more interested in females could be that they really stocked up a lot of lust motivation xD

Ohhh I like that picture. How does it look like on other creatures?

  7. It would be really cool if bones had a use in the game and were implemented more widely. For example, a pile of meat that is left alone too long turns into bones, and bones also have a chance to appear after gathering meat. Bones would have multiple uses, and nicheling bones would be a bit different. In many tribes I have seen, people say that the nichelings that die in the nest "bless it" with their bones. This could be made a reality. If bones are left alone for too long, they have a chance to fertilize the tiles next to them. This means that nests affected by decomposing bones are repaired and reinforced. Also berry bushes produce more berries for some time if affected, and roots are more likely to spawn in these tiles. This could lead to players assigning nichelings to guard the bones, and to place their elders more strategically so they have a chance to become fertilizer. Bones left behind by non nicheling animals can also fertilize the area, but it takes longer. However, nichelings with this new gene can benefit from bones:

Bone cracking jaw: +1 smelling(because its best to not smell a carcass) +1 bone cracking, +1 cracking

nichelings with this gene can gather food from bones, and nesting material from nicheling bones. The amount of food obtained by cracking bones is equal to the amount of meat you would have obtained, but with 3 more food points. This would be useful if you have a lot of food and you can wait to gather the meat. Also, because there is a small chance of a carcass leaving bones behind after being gathered, you could get a lot of food. You would need to carefully guard the bones, because there are scavengers that would love to get their hands on them:

Boneitor lizard: It has the appearance of a black monitor lizard with a cassowary's crest. Most of the time, its not dangerous. It moves one tile every time a nicheling moves, and it can be killed in one hit, because of its extra soft skin. It can be found on every island, it can cross rivers, and it has 3 smelling, 2 eyesight and 3 hearing. It is very wary about nichelings, and likes to stay at least one tile away from them. It is attracted to bones and it will gather them, for every bone pile it collects, it gains 1 point in defense, and if it collects nicheling bones, it gains 2 points, visually, it covers itself in bone armor. It can reach a maximum of 10 defense, and once it reaches that cap, it will start hunting other things. It will go for bunnies, moles, and baby nichelings, and it swallows them whole. there is a chance it will drop a bit of armor when attacked, and you can harvest bones from that armor piece.

  8. I have many ideas, like a really elevated cliff island with unstable tiles that could make you fall to the deep sea, goats with deer antlers that balance in the mountains, and vultures that eat the meat and bones and try to push nichelings into the sea, and fiendly seal like creatures resting in the shore. But there are also multiple archipelago ideas, like the burning archipelago, an archipelago with the burning savannah biome, where islands burn to the ground and you have to flee, but the water is inhabited by cow sharks, like bull sharks but smaller and with spots, and they assault crossing creatures, and there are also the redbirds, which are capable of stealing two gemmed nichelings.

That looks absolutely terrifying. The scariest part is that poor black nicheling's face. I shows pure terror.

  10. I absolutely love the jungle, but I hope it gets more fauna, so far it only has apes and nichelings, it has plenty of empty ecological niches any creature could fill. I also love the apes and like to think of them as guardians and protectors. If you feel like a threat, they will get rid of you, but if you have the genes that let you fit in the jungle, they let you be and even protect you.

this would be awsome! how much food would the swoopagon drop when killed? would the alpha preadators double their lifespawn? can a swoopagon become alpha? maybe if there was an alpha  bearyena its child could also be apha and when you breed with it it could would have a super rare chance to give an alpha gene that would double the nichelings stats.  that gene would give a reason to venture into the nightmare islands and you would have to wait and fight many alphas before even haveing the chance to get a baby alpha bearyena.

First, the swoopagon drops 50 food, its a lot, but is it worth the risk? probably. Second, yes, alpha predators double their lifespan, so thay are twice as deadly in every aspect. Third, I didnt think of an alpha swoopagon, but now that you mention it, yes, it exists, but it only has a chance to show up once you have spent a long time on a nightmare island o if you have spent a veery long time on another island. Fourth, I like the idea of a alpha baby bearyena, but bearyena genes with double their stats is op even in challenge mode. Your nichelings could have up to 23 strength! However, Maybe there is a very slim chance of finding an alpha baby bearyena, but the only alpha gene it would give you would be alpha bearyena snout, which greatly reduces bearyena agression, and gives you 4 strenght.

  12. This challenge mode would basically increase the difficulty of every island and add a few new mechanics, perfect for long time niche players, easy islands become normal islands, normal islands become hard, hard becomes killer and killer island reaches a new level I will speak of in a bit. This increased difficulty would increase the number of predators and meke new creatures spawn, this means things like bluebirds and dodomingos in the archipelago, more islands with apes and balance bears, hotter and colder islands. Bare berry bushes, cacti and poison berry bushes are a lot more common, even on the grasslands, and even on the easier islands of this mode, normal berry bushes are not very common. Every creature in this mode have better stats, rabbils have 2 speed, and 2 eyesight, and also have better smelling and hearing, moles can detect you from 2 tiles away and has 1 defense, dodomingos can steal your food, bluebirds fly over wider areas, balance bears move 2 times each night, live longer, and have 4 defense, and so on, even the apes are buffed, now with one more point in attack, one more point in its main sense, and each ape has the three senses, for example, a big eyed ape has 7 eyesight, 2 hearing and 2 smelling. Also rogue males are more likely to spawn than wandering nichelings, and acorn trees are just a little bit less common. As a bonus, there is a small chance that a creature that is not native to the island youre in will spawn in the ports, for example, a ramfox pack may rarely spawn in the ports in your swamp island, or a big nosed ape could suddenly show up in the archipelago or mountain, but this is a rare event. Of course, you could get lucky and get some bunnies to show up in the savannah. Also, a brand new dangerous nomadic predator would be introduced. The swoopagon is like a mix between a komodo dragon and a black panther with a taste for nichelings, and its large, but with a stealthy look. its scales are black and it has the ears and eyes of a panther, but the rest of its body is like a komodo dragon. It has 5 smelling, 4 eyesight and 4 hearing, and 4 attack and defense, 1 fishing, with a lifespan of 130 days, 1 cold and heat resistance, and a speed of 3, moving 2 times each night. Each tile it steps on is marked with a special scent that helps it track prey, and it looks like a cloud of rising red smoke. This scent lasts for several days, and any creature that steps on it will be marked by it. Creatures marked by this scent can be tracked by the swoopagon even if they are far away. The swoopagon will mark the tiles it steps in, but it can voluntairly mark things, for example, it can use one of its turns to mark a berry bush or a tree, marking any creature that interacts with it, or it can mark a bunny burrow, marking all bunnies that emerge from it, and they will mark any nicheling that attacks them. If a marked nicheling interacts with another nicheling, the other is also marked. The swoopagon also has a unique hunting method. When its hunting nichelings or anything larger, if its in attacking range, instead of attacking, it will grab the nicheling and it will gain one extra turn of energy, which it will use to dart away into the darknes, placing its prey in front of it and inflicting a temporary blindness efect that lasts 4 days, making its prey unable to see its surroundings, that way, it will attack its blinded prey without interruption. If the swoopagon is attacked once it will lets go, but the attacker should flee quickly, or it could get grabbed. This predator may seem ridiculously overpowered, and it is, but its because it is meant to push your tribe off the island. However, it only has a chance to appear after you have spent many days on the island, and even then, it has only a small chance of showing up, but this chance will increase the more days you spend there. Also, because its nomadic, it has a chance to leave the island, and it can eat any other creature, including bearyenas, and it can distract apes, In plentiful islands, it could get distracted by bunnies. Finally, former killer islands are now nightmare islands, they have more prey, and the jungle has more stinky fruit, but they can have more predators at the same time than any other island, the predators are more likely to spawn, and the weather is a lot more extreme, but the real nightmare starts after the first 25 days on the island, where a single alph predator will spawn, basically its like a larger predator of its normal version and with dark mint coloration and redish eyes, and with double the stats. There are alpha bearyenas, balance bears and apes, and alpha ramfoxes, but there can only be one alpha at a time. This would surely be the greatest challenge in niche, and it will keep the most experienced players on constant alert.
