You've got to sort of unlock it in steam by adding a password in the beta tab. It won't turn up as an option until after you do that.

Currently I have taken the normal values x3 which works pretty well but I was wondering what you guys have? Or will plan on having (I am planning on doing it with x4 and x5 (can't go higher than x5 as it is capped at 100 which I find kinda sad)
I've just been playing around with the settings at the moment, but I really enjoyed adding a five day pregnancy to a forty odd day lifespan, it just felt like it gave a bit more flavour? I'm still trying to work out what damage modifiers work, I definitely set it too high initially and got pretty much entirely wiped out by one bearyena

Have you gone into the beta tab and added the password? It doesn't show up as an option until after that and then you have to select it before it updates (if you've already done that, I guess try restarting?)

It didn't work for me initially either, and then I restarted niche (and steam I think) and then all of a sudden I was just clicking through the colours and saw my custom colours. Maybe it'll just start working randomly for you too

I found a website that gave me the code for colours, I just copy and pasted and added the hash in front

I'm going to guess that it's a bug, since when you look at the stats you can see that the minus one hasn't been applied

Meanwhile, in the land of experimentation, the return of the goddess of winter! (or a close ish copy of her, since I don't actually have any records of what her stats were. Also a restart has added my custom colours into the game, not sure what happened there)

To be fair, that colour scheme really doesn't help, I like my pink bat a little better (but yeah it is definitely more an ugly bat than a cute bat, but tbh I love how hideous it looks)

I feel like I'm hogging all the fun new bugs right now. I just saved and exited out of a blind gene mode play through and when I jumped back in, the question marks covering the genes were gone and I could see everything.

I'm not sure if it's all horns or just antlers, but as you can hopefully see, this poor little guy, at least as a child, has antlers that go through his ears. Once he grows up, I'll post if it's still a problem

Looking at the other photo I posted of a bat buddy, it's not as obvious, but the ram horns do the same thing too.

Forbidden genes means the randomly generated nicheling won't have those genes
As for changing gem colours, I tried but failed, it's in Niche folder and it's like a notepad file (the icon has a little gear on it)

What I did to get mine working was, I restarted steam, then followed the instructions above to get to the beta page, put in the password in the spot for passwords and then it gave me the option to select the tester branch, which I did and then it downloaded the update

The new game doesn't have a name yet.
The plan is to make a building simulation game where you build up a settlement on the back of a huge animal that walks around.
But it's also still possible that we find out the concept doesn't work and do something else ^^Ooooh, that concept is amazing and exactly the kind of game I like to play! Plus Stephanie's artwork is just absolutely stunning! If you do a kickstarter for it, I will definitely be supporting it!

Dig dig and dig
If you're starting in snow, you want to keep reloading until you start with a digging paw. The ice blocks will often have helpful genetics as well
If you're in story mode, aim for claws and digging paws before you get there (also if I'm remembering correctly, first snow has a fair amount of poisonous berry bushes, so poison immunity will help)
For the most part, as heyitsgeorgie said, ignore walrus deer, but check every so often if one swings past if it's close to death, cos you can swoop in and swipe up the meat. Also Balance Bears have plus 2 for defence, so you need to have more than plus 2 strength if you want to take them down

As would be expected with such danger surrounding him, the poor unnamed kit was quickly snatched up by one of the many nearby birds in the sky, though Faith's Chosen could not find too much sorrow or guilt in his heart for the child. Meanwhile, having all faced the harsh, energy draining cold of the approaching winter, it is with wonder that SwiftCurrent and Salvation discover the healing magic of the newest member of the tribe.
Kirvan tells them of the tribe members they had never met, and the way a defenceless kit was abandoned to the fates, a particularly harrowing act to Salvation, who had been tasked with caring for SwiftCurrent at such a young age. As Kirvan sings his healing songs through the night, Salvation feels a powerful draw towards the kind and mysterious creature, encased in ice as SwiftCurrent's father had been, but with the opposite of his curse.
In the other half of the tribe, a tragedy has befallen Isis. In her haste to escape the peril that stole her first child, she has grown too tired to build her nest, and will pass away without her dreams of a family built from love ever being achieved.
Salvation and Kirvan's first kit is also born with Salvation's all important double digging paw. With Salvation's permission, SwiftCurrent asks if Kirvan would help her try and keep the gift of flight alive in their tribe, to which Kirvan agrees.
Meanwhile, things look grim for Faith's Chosen and his wanderer friend. Surrounded on all sides and too cold to do more than swipe at the nearest fox a few times, Faith's Chosen reflects on his choices in life and the path he has walked. He does not know about the other tribe mates that the strange ice bound creature went to join and believes his path here will lead to the end of his family's line and legacy.

Basically you've got to go into the beta tab in steam and then add the password that's at the bottom of Philo's post before the testing branch shows up as an option (then you select it, it downloads and away you go :D)
