  1. I'm taking a short break from Repopulation challenge to do a more RP minded playthrough. This is called royal bloodlines, and centers around a clan of survivors led by a noble bloodline of great leaders. It has loose links to the random name and the pattern challenge, but the rules are very fluid. Lifespans are set to 2 baby 7 child 14 teen 100 adult (mama didn't raise no quitter) Our starters are: Lord Red Velvet - the high and mighty male ruler of the clan. He's got a bit of a hunter in him and will take a simple kill even though he's not supposed to, being king and all. He wants to do well for his clan but thinks the best way to do that is through firm leadership and strict accordance with tradition. Lady Cheesecake - Lord Velvet's even tempered queen. She prides herself in a flawless work ethic and patient understanding. She listens to her packmates and tries to understand and address their worries. She doesn't like how her husband occasionally mistreats their clanmates. Huntree Alfajor - Active, energetic huntress Alfajor. She lives for the hunt and she's excellent at it. Her catches are always flawless and prey rarely sees her coming thanks to her lovely stripes and coat color. Farmer Apas - Humble, quiet farmer, Apas has a way with plants that is unrivaled except by his fellow farmer, Bredela. Though he has a very funny looking face, nobody can deny that he gets results. Healer Biscotti - Purr-snout faced Biscotti, a brave and curious healer. She can also run the fastest in the whole clan, ideal for getting to clanmmates that need aid. She treasures her purring power and prays she never has to use it. Farmer Bredela - Not related to Farmer Apas, though they look very similar. Bredela enjoys her work, though she always dreams about what life would have been like if she had been born with different genes. Another funny looking face, but nobody complains when their paws get sore and Biscotti uses roots (that Bredela digs up) to soothe their pain. Warrior Ballokume - Ballokume is unique, and the strongest non-royal in the clan. Though not very fast, nobody can deny his great strength and strong desire to protect the clan. he has a crush on Alfajor, but can't seem to work up the courage to tell her.
  2. This is a challenge based on the lifestyle of a grey wolf. Requirements Create or have the game generate your breeding pair. They should be set to alpha. They are the only two who can breed. Start on whatever island you like. Only permanent nests. Wolves often spend an entire season at their den, so it can't be temporary. Set age to whatever you like and/or prefer. I recommend setting child to be much longer than usual, this challenge becomes very hard otherwise. How to play: Your breeding pair are the only ones who can breed. Breed your breeding pair. This child or children becomes your first litter. Any other pups born before the first pup becomes a teen is also part of this litter. Any pups born after your first pup becomes a teen is the second litter. Once all the pups of your first litter reach adult, choose one to 'disperse' to somewhere else. They either leave the island or on very large maps (i.e archipelago) they must establish a different territory away from their birth home. Your dispersal nicheling should then locate a mate, and they become the next breeding pair. Good luck!
  3. Welcome back! When we last left, our brave little nichelings had jumped to the next island. To their surprise, it was another whale! Our brave group consists of Smilax, Walnut, Ginko, Narcissus, Cashew, Azalea, Cottonwood, Anemone, Orchid, and Redwood. The first born baby of this whale island is Acacia, a son born to Narcissus and Cashew. In the background, Tulip and Smilax prepare to have babies of their own. On the other side of the bay, Orchid gives birth to Pawpaw, a son of her own. The very next day, Azalea gives birth to a son she dubs Sassafras. Fitting, since he's rather sassy. He has little patience for the other pups. Smilax finally births her child, the first daughter named Forsynthia. Acacia takes an immediate liking to her. Here you can see him hiding behind a termite hill while she takes her first steps out of the nest. Anemona brings fourth a second daughter in Candy Tuft. Pawpaw and Candy Tuft play a lot while the adults talk about who should be the next king and queen. Lonely without Larkspur, Ginko looks after Orchid's daughter Geranium. She's remarkably intelligent, and they enjoy having discussions about prey, the weather, and the politics of the clan. Narcissus gives birth to a second son she names Hornbeam. He's a quiet child, and tends to avoid most social contact for much of his childhood. In the meantime, Smilax and Walnut are declared the new king and queen. The two are elated, and promise to lead their clan as best as they can. Queen Smilax births a healthy son named Sweetgum. Walnut watches proudly from a few paces away, while Orchid congratulates the queen on her fetching son. Sweetgum, true to his name, is a perfectly sweet pup who seems to get along with everyone. Smilax's sister, Azalea, bears her final son, who she names Pear. He's a bit of an outcast due to his eccentric, asocial nature. Anemone bears another daughter named Chrysanthemum. Everybody just calls her Chrys for short. Sassafrass seems to like her. Narcissus tries one more time, hoping for a girl, but falls short. Nonetheless, she names her son Hickory and promises to take care of him and his brothers. Cashew is rather disappointed though. Forsynthia makes Smilax a grandmother through her first daughter, Holly. She and Acacia are elated to have such a beautiful daughter, who immediately caught the eye of Hickory. Two births in one picture. On the left, Forsynthia bears another daughter named Gloxinia. In the middle, Candy Tuft births a daughter she names Monkshood. The two become fast friends, and are never seen far from each other. Monkhood and Pear also hang around each other often. Geranium gives birth to Ginko's son, Apricot. He's unexpectedly aggressive, and rather moody, so the other cubs generally exclude him. In the back, you can see Candy Tuft pregnant with her second child. Chrys and Sassafrass welcome a son, named Linden, into the world. A pregnant Geranium watches proudly and hopes her baby will come out as pretty and, more importantly, with a much better temper. Candy Tuft brings a second daughter, named Viscaria. She's an immediate favorite for her intelligent, witty personality. She and Linden become fast friends, and their excited parents note how well they balance each other out. Happy day! Geranium seems to have gotten her wish, as she births a daughter named Chuparosa who is unbelievably gentle and motherly. She and Sweetgum get along very well and the entire tribe guesses that they will be mates soon enough. Chrys brings another daughter, named Violet, into the world. Violet, much like her brother, is quiet and even-tempered. Many of the mothers in the clan are jealous. Queen Smilax and King Walnut pass. Gloxinia and Hornbeam are chosen by the ancestors to be the next king and queen. Newly chosen Queen Gloxinia births a son named Olive. In the back, Holly gives birth to her daughter Hydrangea. The two get along very well, and secretly, Holly brags that her daughter will marry royalty when she is grown. A bearyena attacks the camp, threatening a pregnant Monkshood and Holly. Viscaria births a son named Walnut (after the famous ancestor-king). Violet watches from a few paces away, dreaming of the day she'll be a mother too. After a much needed rain to break a long drought, there are two births! Holly gives birth to a son she names Sycamore, while Monkshood has a daughter named Suncup. Both are very active pups who get out of the nest as soon as their legs work. The Queen births a rather unique looking son named Silktree. He is an immediate attraction due to his odd horns. Chuparosa can be seen taking a curious peak between gathering berries. Violet fufills her dream of being a mother and gives birth to a daughter named Lupine. She and Silktree are immediate friends, and many believe the Queen's son will quickly steal her heart. Chuparosa bears a lovely daughter she names Jonquil. Sycamore and Jonquil get along well, and the whole clan whispers that they may end up married one day. Viscaria has another child, a son named Persimmon. He's rather awkward around the adults and prefers to stay among pups his own age. Violet and Hydrangea were close by to help her give birth. Word begins to spread around the trip that the king and queen want the next generation to move ahead. The last day for King Hornbeam. Queen Gloxinia would howl in mourning for the next day, crying over the death of her lifelong mate. The same day the king dies, Monkshood births another daughter named Mallow. Unlike her sister, Suncup, Mallow prefers isolation and enjoys the quiet of her chores rather than socializing with the rest of the clan. Violet births a son named Hackberry. The queen declares that the next generation needs to move on, now that they are better adapted to the heat. The clan begins to prepare to send the next generation forward. Chuparosa has her last child, another odd daughter named Lavender. She and Hackberry get along well, so both are selected to go forward. Hydrangea gives birth to a daughter named Chia. She is also selected to go ahead, accompanied by Persimmon. Two more births. Lupine gives birth to a daughter she names Stock. In the center, Jonquil gives birth to a daughter named Mistletoe, an isolated daughter who is nonetheless very fetching. However, she is not permitted to join the group going forward. Suncup gives birth to her last daughter, Allspice, who is approved to go forward, much to her delight. As the clan continues to prepare to go forward, two more pups are born for the journey forward. Lupine bears a daughter named Anise, while Jonquil, desperate for one of her children to go forward, bears a son named Buckeye. He is approved to go forward. Suncup and Walnut, hoping for the best, try one last time and successfully bear a son named Coffee. Just a little north, Lavender has her first son named Catalpa, who is approved to accompany them onwards. From there, Lavender, Hackberry, Chia, Persimmon, Stock, Catalpa, Allspice, Buckeye, Anise, and Coffee went forward. So where did they go? Let's just say, somewhere warm and sunny. Will be updating again soon!
  4. The goal is to travel to every island, and leave behind at least 5 nichelings when you do so. If you like, you can read the whole challenge here.
  5. 3B: The world is burning Near the back, the newly christened queen Primrose gives birth to a son named Tonoak. Towards the forefront, Daffodil gives birth to a daughter named Orchid. Orchid is sort of fleeting, and more than a little mischievous. The second she could walk from the nest, she wanted to bother everyone and everything. She's quite the Stagmole hunter. The fire has raged through half of the savanna now, and the clan is beginning to feel the heat as they run out of places to run. Magnolia, afraid of seeing her family line die with her, mates with a friendly bearyena under the cover of night. She soon gives birth to a unique, even tempered daughter named Smilax. Now a fire starts in the middle of the camp. The whole tribe is thrown into chaos and nichelings flee for their lives from the burning flames. Once some safety is reached, Tulip and Daffodil rest to give birth. Tulip bears a daughter named Larkspur, while Daffodil has a son named Walnut. Walnut and Smilax seem to get along well. Young Rosebud bears her first pup - A girl named Narcissus. Perhaps a fitting name, since she is rather arrogant and upright. She just needs the right person to calm her down, the other mothers assure Rosebud. In fact, the queen seems to have birthed an answer in the form of a son named Cashew (seen here before his renaming). Because their fur color and patterns match, Narcissus seems to see him as a sort of equal. Who knew? Many births in one picture! In the far left nest is Tulip with her daughter Anemone. In the upper middle nest is Sweet Pea with her daughter Amaryllis, and in the right nest is Azalea, the daughter of Myrtle and a tamed bearyena. Off to the side, Rosebud gives birth to a son named Cottonwood. He and Azalea play with each other often through their puphood and promise to be mates when they grow up. The king's last photo. While Queen Primrose will live on, King Elderberry will soon be joining the ancestors up in the summerlands. Sweet Pea gives birth to a son she names Ginko. Magnolia can be seen helping the young mother out while the clan continues to move eastwards ahead of the fire. Orchid has her first child! It is a son named Redwood. The pup's charm and handsome looks promise him a mate not too long after he grows up. On the same day, Snapdragon finally begins her family with Madrone, birthing a healthy girl named Chestnut. The clan continues to move east, heading for a familiar looking port. Could it be the same whale? Probably not, but it will at least give them time to bring up their food stores and prepare for the next hot biome and the lands beyond.
  6. Part 3A: The Burning Desert When we last left, the family was on the verge of leaving. So where did King Larch and Queen Flax take them? The answer is to the Burning Savanna. Our adventurers take their first steps onto the dry grass. The wind is blowing but it offers no relief from the relentless heat that seems to beat down on the land. Everybody is unbelievably hot by the first day, and it only gets worse from there. Larch and Flax try to keep the family together as they move into the savanna that will be their home for the next few generations. Queen Flax births the first baby of the new island, a daughter named Gardenia. Several of the other females find their partners and begin starting their own families, families that will call this island their home. The queen orders the males to conduct exploratory parties around to search for more nests and a begin clearing out grass. Carnation gives birth to her first son, Yew. Yew is sort of rough and tumble, so the other pups don't like him much at first. In the nest at the back left, Jasmine gives birth to her first son, Elderberry. The entire clan is suffering in the heat, but there's nothing that can be done. A bearyena attacks the camp, but the males manage to kill it and then make friends with the baby left behind. Many births in one day! Queen Flax gives birth to a daughter she names Poppy, and Dandelion gives birth to a son named Buckthorn. You can see Yew taking his first steps out of the next on the bottom left corner. Unfortunately just out of the image is Aster, who also births a son named Hawthorn. Carnation gives birth to the most beautiful daughters: Snapdragon and Primrose. So taken by Primrose's beauty, Elderberry makes it a point to hang around her often. Near the back, Camellia gives birth to her daughter Magnolia. Jasmine has just birthed her last daughter, Lily. The queen and the king get ready to welcome the last member of the royal family near the bottom of the picture. Dandelion brings a much needed son into the world with Beech, a handsome boy that Lily seems to enjoy playing with. Uh oh... A wildfire is starting... Despite the slight panic everyone feels, the queen births a lovely pair of twins, Cactus and Crocus. Gardenia gives birth, making the king and queen grandparents. They are unbelievably proud of their daughter for bringing such a beautiful son into the world. His name is Hemlock. Not too long after her sister, Poppy mates with Yew and gives birth to a daughter she names Iris. Oleander and Buckthorn fall deeply in love. It isn't long before Oleander gives birth to a daughter named Daffodil. Hyacinth, terrified of dying childless, mates with the tamed bearyena. Everyone is shocked, but none more so than Carnation, who feels her sister betrayed her. Petunia gives birth to a darling son named Laurel. Gardenia welcomes a daughter to the world, and names her Myrtle. Myrtle is somewhat standoffish, but Laurel's confident personality was sure to attract some attention in the female half of the family. The fire continues to spread. Panic is more imminent now. The clan begins moving east to get away from the fire. Hyacinth gives birth to her hybrid daughter - a surprisingly beautiful pup she names Tulip. Laurel is immensely interested in the hybrid female, and the two hang out quite a bit through their childhood. Towards the back, Oleander gives birth to her second daughter: Rosebud, while in the front, Poppy gives birth to her own second daughter in Sweet Pea. Lily makes Jasmine a grandmother by giving birth to her eldest son, Redbud. He's a peppy pup who always wants to play. He bothers Rosebud a lot. The fire was really spreading at this point and the entire clan is moving east as quickly as possible to keep ahead of the blaze. The only thing they can do is pray for rain soon. Petunia gives birth to her second son, Juniper. He's much calmer than his brother, quieter too maybe, he gets along well with Sweet Pea. The last picture of Queen Flax and King Larch before they passed. After they died, the whole clan prayed to the ancestor spirits to pick the next Queen and King. Primrose and Elderberry were selected. The choice was very popular, though some questioned Primrose's fitness to lead being so quiet and meek. Lily gives birth to another fetching son in Madrone. Madrone is a little restive though, very intelligent, but he gets along better with adults. He hangs out with Snapdragon quite a bit through his youth.
  7. Part 2: Welcome back to the repopulation challenge. A lot has happened, so this will be a long update! When we left off, the third generation was just being born. Buttercup and Pine have decided to start a family. On the left, Rose is pregnant with her second child by Oak. Buttercup is very excited to be a mom, while Rose is kinda over it by now. Queen Foxtail can be seen in the next on the right, taking a rest after a day of gathering grass. Elm got ambushed by a bearyena! King Rowan rushed over to help, hoping it wasn't too late to save his friend. But unfortunately, Elm was quite old and perished at the bearyena's mighty claws. Rowan swiftly killed it in revenge and fed the meat to his tribe. That night was a bad night, where the king and queen howled in mourning until dawn. The next day, Rose and Buttercup give birth. Rose to a girl named Begonia, and Buttercup to a girl named Marigold. The proud fathers watch from nearby. Cattail seems rather uninterested in her new sibling. The king is growing older, and the wounds he sustained from the Bearyena are costing him now. He mates with the queen one last time, hoping to live long enough to see the birth of his last child. Begonia sits by her grandparents and promises to keep close to them in their final days. Three days later, the queen gives birth to her last daughter, a girl named Sakura. She's considered one of the most beautiful nichelings in the clan, blessed with the loveliest shade of red fur. This is the last screenshot I have of Queen Foxglove and King Rowan. Rose and Buttercup give birth again - Buttercup to a son named Aspen, and Rose to a girl named Ivy. The two mothers trade proud glances as the clan welcomes their children to the world. Buttercup gives birth again shortly thereafter to a girl named Marigold. Little Spruce takes a special shine to Marigold, showing her all around the tribe's territory and chasing bunnils together. After growing up together and growing close with age, Zinnia and Fir become mates. She gives birth to a daughter named Bluebell for her lovely blue eyes. Fern is still a little immature for a father, but he tries to do the best he can. The clan is beginning to face a crisis: Too many girls are being born, and not enough boys. Silent panic sets in as the Queen and King have died, nobody knows what to do. But there was light in the darkness! The entire clan prayed to the ancestors above for a new king and queen, and more boys. Buttercup birthed twin boys: Cypress and Alder. For this the entire clan rejoiced as the end of the crisis. They took this as a sign from the ancestors and Buttercup and Pine were made the next king and queen. On the left, you can see that Sakura made a special friend. He has a hard time with their language, but Sakura has been patiently teaching him. Zinnia and Fir try one more time, hoping for a boy, and they get a boy! He is dubbed birch for his silvery stripes. Marigold and Spruce, all grown up now, have their first daughter: Sunflower. Off to the right, the twins Cypress and Alder take their first steps out of the nest. A fierce drought has gripped the clan, and hot days go by and food sources began to run out. Queen Buttercup planned on discussing talks of moving the clan's camp further north, where there were more berry bushes. Marigold gives birth to a son she names Willow. He's a very handsome son, and Cattail takes an immediate shine to him. They seem to play well together, Willow's calm to Cattail's more energetic nature. Meanwhile, the clan decides to migrate north. There is more food, and the recent rains have revitalized the plants. The entire clan begins to move north. At the same time, Sakura gives birth to a daughter she names Dandelion that she fathered with her Bearyena friend. She mates with him again before moving north, and has another daughter named Goldenrod. The first baby born in the north camp is that of Clover's daughter Peony, who has a son she names Dogwood. He's a gentle soul who tends to be very quiet. He doesn't stray far from this mother during his childhood. He likes hanging around Bluebell, though. Peony gives birth to her second son. Poplar. In the nest on the left, Marigold gives birth to her second daughter in Jasmine. Heather, desperate to subvert her childless fate, desperately mated with a bearyena to produce Larch, her son. As another drought hit the clan, Buttercup tragically perished, along with her mate Pine. The clan prayed to the ancestors to reveal their next king and queen, and to everyone's shock, it was Flax (daughter of Begonia and Cypress) and Larch. The clan understood. They needed to repopulate the islands. The clan could not stay on the whale forever. So six couples were chosen: Jasmine and Ash, Camellia and Mulberry, Dandelion and Cedar, Aster and Poplar, and Carnation and Sycamore, and one more in Carnation's twin Hyacinth. These couples would strike fourth to the next island, and populate it with their tribe. With their effort, the Nichelings could return from extinction, with just four baby survivors as their ancestors. Where we will go next? You shall see, in part 3!
  8. The girls are named after flowers and herbs (When I inevitably run out of flowers) while boys are named after trees and vegetables (when I inevitably run out of trees). Thank you for the flowers though! My next girls may just end up with those names ;).
  9. Part 1: Our little survivors. From left to right: Daisy, Foxglove, Elm, and Rowan. The babies decide they should have leaders, so Foxglove and Rowan (being the oldest by a day), are elected king and queen of the tribe. They begin to head up the whale in hopes of finding a good spot for a camp. Rowan pretends to be a female for a second to make everyone laugh. He's doing his best to keep their morale up. They are now full adults! Despite all odds, they have still managed to persevere. Soon after, Foxglove gives birth to a pair of twins, a boy and a girl! They are named Rose and Maple. Daisy also births a daughter, who is named Clover. I unfortunately lost the baby pictures, but rest assured they do exist. Not too long later, Foxglove and Daisy both give birth to boys! Foxglove names her son Pine, while Daisy names her son Oak. The two fathers are very proud. Rose is interested in her baby brother, you can see her lurking in the background. Clover and Maple become very close, both being assigned berry picking duty. Eventually, they decide they want to be mates. Both parents are very excited! After all, this is the third generation. Daisy is looking forward to being a grandmother, even though she just birth another daughter named Buttercup. Queen Foxglove is also pregnant again. Daisy and Foxglove both give birth to their last children. Foxglove births a son named Fir, and Daisy has a daughter she names Zinnia. Clover looks proudly at her little sister and wonders what her baby will look like. She's not waiting long as she gives birth overnight to her first daughter, named Peony. Maple, the proud father, immediately races over to look and falls in love with his daughter. He's very proud to be a dad. Rose and Oak, being some of the first children born, have decided they want to start their own family as well. You can see Rose in the nest at the far left. Clover gives birth twice more, one to a son named Spruce, and another to a daughter named Heather (not pictured, unfortunately). Rose also gives birth to a daughter named Cattail, who can be seen by the berry bush on the right. Fir can be seen here checking out his nephew. Part 2 will be posted soon!
  10. I think the ice blocks are fair since they were frozen and safe from the plague.
  11. Thank you! I'm glad you like it and thank you for the warm welcome!
  12. You're free to do that too. This challenge is pretty hard as is so far. I'm glad you like it though!
  13. Using the new sandbox, I came up with a challenge I thought you guys might enjoy. The Re-population Challenge A deadly plague swept through the islands. It passed from Nicheling to Nicheling like wildfire, and even those with good immunity fell to the plague. Eventually, there were no nichelings left - they had gone extinct in only the span of a few years. Or did they? A pawful of mothers, hiding on the back of a whale, gave birth to their babies before passing. The babies are now the only surviving members of the Nicheling species. The Challenge: You can set age to whatever you like and/or prefer. Your starting nichelings can have any genes you like, don't get attached though, because they'll be changing looks a LOT. You MUST turn off Wild Nichelings, Rogue Males, and Home Animals. Your nichelings are the only members of the species left. I recommend making about 4 babies to start with. 2 for hard mode, and 6 for an easy mode. Start on whale island. Your nichelings should be no older than teens or children. The Goal: This is where the challenge gets tricky. You have to visit many different islands, and leave behind at least 5 nichelings when you travel. You are trying to bring back the nicheling species, so leaving some behind furthers that goal. The challenge is complete when you've travelled to every island or one of every kind of island (i.e one jungle, one savanna, etc) and have left some of your tribe there. After that, you can settle on a nice island and play to your heart's content. Good luck! I'll be posting my play through on the relevant board. Tips: Friendly bearyenas are going to be your best friend. That being said, don't make nichelings with G-H immunity genes. 4 babies is a good place to start. Make sure they all have different immunity genes. Adapting to a specific climate and then doing all the islands with that climate is a good way to save time and energy if you're doing the every island version.
