Maybe it could be a toggle-able thing? Because there's the Harem achievement for having one animal of one sex and lots of the opposite sex, and having this in effect all the time would exponentially increase the difficulty of getting that achievement.

    Oh yeah...
Maybe when you start a game there could be an option for even-ratio or random-ratio. Like a little radio button thing where it explains what it is if you hover over it or click a question mark icon, like: "Even-ratio generates an mostly-even amount of male and female nichelings, while random-ratio allows you to get more of one or the other."
or you could kill all your other males/females to get the achievement

  2. I actually don't think any combination of genes should result in you having 0 movement on land. Unless we're given the ability to make nests in the water, there would be no way for your full crark hybrid to move, breed, or find food -- they would be stuck in the nest indefinitely. In fact, none of the crark genes add movement, so even if you don't have a full hybrid then an unlucky combination of genes would leave you stranded like a beached whale. If you had a whole tribe of them, what good would carrying/dragging do if nobody can move?

Not trying to sound harsh btw, I just think that a full gene set giving you 0 movement is a bad idea. At the very least it should be like blind nichelings where you can only move 1 tile on land, instead of 0 tiles on land, it seems broken.

  3. I recently tried using gem colors to keep track of breeding groups, but it got really tedious that I had to change the gem color of all the babies and I began to lose track. Maybe if both parents have the same gem color, then the baby will too? Another idea is a 50% chance of either parents' gem colors if they're different.

  4. I feel like this could cause issues if not done carefully, or if there's a substantial amount of "neutral" immunities. Since if only, lets say, A or B is resistant to the cold, then it will be hard to keep that in the tribe without being constantly at risk for double-immunity sickness.

  5. Yep, I have this too! You probably saw my post on steam, but it was about how I was getting all females when trying to breed in the peacock tail gene (and my tribe proceeded to die because there were no males).

It's not as extreme in my current save, but I seem to be getting way more males, like 5:1.

  6. It's actually pretty close to the starting island! I forget the exact direction, since I'll have to open the game again for that, but it has a port with blue-ish grass and some bones. The first blue port you come across is likely to be it.

  7. I got the homecoming achievement...somehow?

Apparently I got it on November 11, 2017. I don't have any memory of it though. I didn't even know it was unlocked until I decided to check my achievements.

  8. Can there please please be a thing where rogue males don't mate with your female anyway if you just attacked them that turn? I've had it so many times where they'll breed even though I just attacked him instead of running away. It's annoying, and I don't want the spiky body just for this reason (I don't like how it looks). It feels broken in a sense, since what's the point of attacking them if they only go away half the time?

Maybe make it so the rogue male's next turn can never be for breeding if he was just attacked?

  9. I can see the purr snout gene in my family tree without it ever being bred in or seen (although it's inactive of course).
For me it's in the 2nd row, 3rd column. It looks like a short-snouted nicheling with whiskers. If it isn't there, I think it's bugged.

  10. I get bearyenas every time I play tiny green too (or pretty much every island except snow ones). They show up every few turns for me.
Degrassing the whole island isn't really necessary, you only really need to clear the spot where you nest so you're not caught off-guard. If you're starting with the same bloodline each time, then you should probably breed in some nichelings with higher attack since it seems like otherwise they're just sitting ducks for whatever happens to come by. Once I was unlucky enough to end up with quite a few nichelings with 0 attack, it was not pretty for them. It also helps that you move every capable nicheling to an aggressive bearyena to attack it, since they never seem to attack the same nicheling twice in a row if surrounded (at least in my experience). You can get much more hits in that way, and you don't have to worry about sending a lone hero to defend the tribe. Once you reach about 5 nichelings, the surround method works wonders.

  11. I think it's bad luck as well. I've never had issues with a bearyena killing my starters since I breed them as soon as they grow up and gang up on any predators that appear. I also never experienced any rogue males on tiny green, are you sure it's not a bug? I know there are some easy islands where they don't appear at all.
