tal looked around his room. hed lived here for his whole life...how could he leave? just because of one thing he saw? his eyes fell on his sister. there was no question, he needed to keep her safe. no matter what. he still wasnt sure if he trusted this kid...but he felt like he might need to. "okay. take me wherever we need to go."

"i was talking to my mom... do you really think someone would come and take us away? would i really be in danger if i stayed here?" if the answer was "yes," then that would mean that tal would need to go with this kid...he promised his mom he would keep him and his sister safe. if this was the way to keep them out of harms way...

tal walked back upstairs. he went back to the window to see if the kid was still there.

tal had more questions-so many more-but he didnt want to make his mom suspicous "i will keep us safe. i promise."

"...mom. if there...was ever someone at the window...what would i do? i mean- just in case youre not home...why would someone want to come here?"

"i...yeah" tal nodded. his stomach turned- first disobeying his mom, now lying to her? this seemed to be becoming a habit...

tal became nervous at his moms speed and urgency "a-actually maybe i was just seeing things- yeah i was dreaming. mom you can go back down, it was nothing!"

"someones outside my window...saying we need to leave." tal shifted his weight uncomfortably

"mm..." this kid seemed pretty similar to tal. maybe he could trust him...he had no reason not to... "hang on. im gonna be right back..." tal went out to go find his mom

"well thats...nice" tal lied. "what do you do all the time" he was still trying to stall...the more he talked to this kid, the more he started to trust they might be telling the truth...but he still wasnt sure.

well tal certainly didnt want to be dissected. but at the same time, tal had never seen any one around here. how could he be sure this person wasnt lying? "what about my mom?" he asked, stalling

"no i dont know... i dont really see a lot of people out here at all..." tal realized with a start that if this person had these...last men chasing them, they had just led them right to him and his family. "you should go now." he said a little louder than he intened. "im...tired."
