Hello everyone! I'm excited to share with you the story of our 5-year journey developing "Tales of Seikyu", a monster/youkai-themed farming simulation game. It all started back in 2019 when me and some friends I met at a small game jam started working on this game in our spare time. Fast forward to 2020, we finally decided to quit our jobs and focus on finishing the game full-time.
Throughout the development, Some tough decision came to us. We thought that mobile games were more profitable and easier to find a publisher. But the more we work on the mobile project, the more we question ourselves. Do we really want this? We wanted to challenge ourselves further and bring something unique and surprising to the world. So, we scrapped our previous project and restarted developing "Tales of Seikyu."
"Tales of Seikyu" is a game that combines a farm simulation with an open-world RPG. The main character wakes up in a Yokai world called Seikyu and starts managing an inn entrusted by God Inari, goes on adventures with monster/youkai friends in this world and makes deeper connections with them.
This may not be the prefect decision for us. It is a tough challenge for us, and a lot of the content is completely new to us. But maybe this is the indie spirit, a bit stubborn but believing that we can eventually complete this work and bring RPG and farming enthusiasts a monster/youkai background farming simulation game.
