  1. you don't. You have to breed with rogues or wanderers to survive!
  2. Evergreen might suspect something, but I think she wouldn't tell anyone. Alecto is the saber fangs with horns and a claw. Fearless has just saber fangs.
  3. Setup Ages and Multipliers Baby, 4; Child, 6; Teen, 10; Adult, 35; Pregnancy, 5. Enemy, 7; Hunger, 2; Environment, 5; Healing, 2. Gene Settings Start with one female with the following settings; Gameplay Set food settings to 20, nesting material to 30. Enable tribe size limit of 20. Rules General - The tribe must stay separated. Any teen or adult within smelling/hearing/seeing range of teen or adult will fight them off. - Adults who are expecting or raising a child must have Alpha rank. Adults who aren't expecting or raising a child must have Beta rank. Teens must have Omega rank. - Kill off all male children. Breeding - You are not allowed to breed any nichelings within the tribe together; you are only allowed to breed with rogues and wanderers. ** If you banish a nicheling, you must wait 30 days before being allowed to breed with them.- Any nicheling with an infertility gene (1 or 2) is killed off. - Once a child becomes a teen, the mother leaves them to fend for themselves. Good luck!
  4. If you think it would be necessary, yes, go for it. I give myself a grace time of 5-20 days where I kill off all attackers and then use no commands after that point, maybe it would be good for this playthrough while the tribe is still settling in. Maybe just use commands in life-or-death. Tribe is on the brink of death? use commands. Tribe is about to starve? use commands. etc.
  5. Damage multipliers only apply to nichelings. Balance bears and ramfoxes shouldn't be affected by multipliers.
  6. Long Winter. Not as hard as Frost Lands; rarer predator spawns, more sources of food, and generally easy to survive on if you have the right genes and abilities. When played well, this island is super fun and not too challenging
  7. Fearless' Name Horizon and Ghost went down to meet with Lichen, Fox Heart and Plum. Horizon tapped her claws. "Well. It looks like you're having your child soon, Fox Heart. I'd like you to nest on that stump up there. So we can keep a close eye on the child." There was something malicious in her tone. Fox Heart was going to protest, but instead politely said "Yes, Your Majesty." Horizon nodded at the group as they passed her. She turned to Ghost, whose unnervingly emotionless expression watched her carefully. "Strange how rebels always fight us, then act submissively and correctly after they're threatened." Ghost nodded at her words. "Indeed. Although I do wonder what a fortune-teller would be planning in means of escape." Horizon shrugged. "Lichen is going to die soon. We don't have to worry about anything for now." Ghost watched after Fox Heart, and then turned to Horizon. "I feel like I've heard that name before.. Fox Heart.. sounds familiar, yet I can't tell what from.." "Deja vu?" "I suppose.." But Ghost couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong with the tan nicheling. King, Magenta, Alecto, and Fearless had reached the rest of the tribe. Horizon was coming back up from the lower mountain. King saw Fearless' eyes gleam in the blue light of the mountain. He had to do something. Jumping between the two, he shoved Magenta down the mountain and away from Fearless, before grabbing Fearless' paws firmly. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING!" Fearless ripped their claws free. "ARE YOU HELPING HER?" Horizon, startled, looked up at Fearless in surprise. "You can't kill Horizon!" King stared at Fearless desperately. "Then you'll just be as bad as Evergreen, killing a leader to become the new leader! A coup! Exactly why you're doing all this!" Fearless glared at King. "Karma is evil. Everyone's going to have to deal with it." King looked back at them, scared by determined. "You're just going to punish everyone. You're going to do exactly what you say Horizon is doing. You're going to become a monster, exactly as you say they are." Fearless grinned. "The ends justify the means." Alecto grabbed Fearless' arm, who tried to shove her away. "Sibling, you really do live up to your name, you Fearless creature. This wouldn't have worked. Evergreen would just kill you." She pointed to Horizon. "We're saving you from death, idiot. Just accept a punishment." Fearless glared at Alecto hauntingly. "Now I know why mother never loved you." Alecto just looked stunned; not surprised, not shocked. Just stunned. She paused, mouth slightly open, staring at Fearless, who continued. "But she will if you help me to avenge her and kill her killer. She tried to kill Evergreen herself, before that idi- before Tiger's Eye intervened. You didn't help her. But you can make it up to her now, if you help me." King looked at Fearless and Alecto in complete shock. But Horizon's voice surprised him even more. Horizon's horns were lowered in battle position, and she looked confident. "King, Alecto, step aside. Fearless needs to prove their strength. And I need to prove mine."
  8. maybe give yourself as much food as the nicheling still has on their lifespan? The only rule that wouldn't apply to that would be for children and teens. Then add how many days they've been alive worth of food. For example. If a nicheling lives 100 days (3 baby, 4 child, 13 teen, 80 adult) and you hunt them; - when they're 42 days old; since they can defend themselves and run away as an adult, you'd add 58 food for their remaining lifespan. - when they're 12 days old; they're still a child and can't properly fight back or run, you'd add 12 food for how long they've already been alive. This could lead to nichelings waiting until a child turns 20 days old to hunt them, which could start attachments for potential plot points wink wink. If that makes sense
  9. Shadows and Secrets (also, a black and beige-yellow teen female has joined, I named her Bumble, we don't see her in the screenshots) Ghost came back from Salvador's grave, somber and wondering if joining the Empire was a mistake. Maybe his family would take him back in. But Maybe not. And he made Salvador a promise. He needed to uphold that. He wouldn't be here if it weren't for Salvador. But maybe it was Salvador's fault he was in this position? All he knew was that Horizon was a threat to be quelled. To save the mountain. The Empire. His family.. This would be a necessary battle. One that Ghost wasn't certain he would win. Fox Heart pulled Lichen aside. He had been so excited to reunite with his mate and 'child'; the heartbreaking truth would shatter him completely. "Lichen, I'm sorry to tell you. Plum isn't our biological child." He raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?" Plum stared at her feet in shame. "I'm the daughter of Pomegranate and Dragonfruit. I ran off with Fox Heart. They would've killed me otherwise." Lichen thought for a second. "They left you with Fox Heart? They didn't protect you themselves?" Plum paused, and slowly nodded, looking up. "Then they didn't care about you. But we do." Lichen's eyes were soft and kind. His words filled Plum with an indescribable feeling. A sweet warmth and a sharp spear. A spoken secret and a silent announcement. "We are you parents, Plum. Your true parents." NO I AM YOUR FATHER Fearless looked at King (joining the Empire) and Alecto with a strong-willed gaze. "We can't trust Horizon and Evergreen. None of those awful self-proclaimed heroes. We can't." Alecto turned to Fearless. "Why?" "Evergreen is a monster. She killed my mother. She killed yours too, sister. Horizon is insane, that's pretty obvious." Alecto shrugged. "Our mother didn't exactly care about me. She wanted me to avenge her and father. That's.. about it." Fearless grabbed Alecto's horn, shoving her down. King watched them, terrified. "WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU. Our mother was amazing. She cared so much for her children and her mate and her Empire. Evergreen ruined it all! We were at peace! And then she attacked!" Alecto pushed Fearless away with her claw. Fearless grabbed Magenta's neck with their claw, and Alecto screeched. Fearless smiled and turned to their sister again. "Kill Evergreen for me, or Magenta is dead." Alecto glared at Fearless. "You're a monster. You're just as bad as Evergreen." "Fight fire with fire." King watched the two siblings fight, knowing that the Empire was being held together with only a few strings. He needed to do something to stop it from falling. But what?
  10. Salvador's Concern Horizon watched as Dragonfruit's bones fell to the ground. She was unsatisfied with this attack; sure, they had gotten lots of nichelings from it. A horrible group was off the island and her mountain was safe. But Plum and Magenta weren't exactly useful. They seemed to be closer to rogue children then actual children from nichelings on the mountain. Even the lingering feel of death in this area felt unnatural. Horizon had never been murderous or genocidal before. She had never wanted to kill. But when the first attack on the Frozens was about to begin, she felt a strange hunger for battle, a newfound thirst for violence. And, being the sole leader of the Empire at the moment, the destined one, the chosen one, picked to rule the mountain, she could basically do whatever. So a few causalities weren't a big deal. Including since she wasn't the one to kill them. She wasn't a bad nicheling! "I'm going to go back to the camp. Alecto and Fearless, stay here until Magenta is a teen. Then I want you to escort her down the mountain." Horizon stared back at the small child. "I was hoping she would be more useful. Or at least be like her father. Ah well.." Arctic seemed unfazed by the deaths, numbed by the past torment this group had caused her. Fearless flicked an ear dismissively of Horizon's order, but still abided. Alecto nodded. "Of course, Horizon." Horizon paused and looked back at Alecto for a moment. "Could you please refer to me as Your Majesty from now on, Alecto?" Alecto nodded again. "Yes, Your Majesty." Fearless looked at Alecto condescendingly. A small burst of power surged in Horizon, and she turned away, satisfied. A few days later, an old Salvador pulled Ghost aside. "Ghost, I'm going to die soon.. tomorrow, actually." Ghost looked up at the elderly male. He had learned a lot from the kind nicheling. It hurt; he was like a second father. "But Fire Ruby can make you immortal. Go to her, you don't need to die." Salvador sighed. "I would. But I feel like it's just wrong. I don't want to be Salvador, who has lived for five million years and has seen every child on the mountain since their births, y'know?" Ghost let out a sad laugh. "I get you. I think." Salvador's gaze turned serious. "Ghost, after I'm gone, keep an eye on Horizon for me." The gray nicheling blinked. "Why? She's inviting and quite nice." "I've.. seen her do things. She's changed. Ever since Fire Opal and Moose told her she's the next leader." His gaze darkened. "What happened?" "She's just.. different. Power changes people, y'know. She used to be sweet and innocent and kind. And now, she's murderous and battle-hungry and genocidal. She's tried to wipe out both the Frozens and Onion's group, and has gotten success in one. That's just going to fuel her on." Ghost looked at Salvador, concerned. Salvador continued. "I've seen her since she was born. I know she's changing. I know she's going to do something she's going to regret." Ghost stared at Salvador for a long moment of shock. "So just keep an eye on her for me, will you?" The sun set slowly as the pair stared out to sea, just thinking. The first year of the mountain had fallen; 365 days of suffering, and so many more to go. "Yes Salvador, I'll watch her for you." . "Although I can't promise I can save her."
  11. although this reply is late, I want to say that Horizon has been going into a slow descent of greed and desire for power. Once Fire Opal and Fire Ruby mentioned her importance and future as a leader, her confusion basically morphs slowly into impatience. When Tiger's Eye tries to confide in her after Firecracker told her she needs to kill Evergreen, Horizon basically eggs her on. She blames the Frozens for not helping her, Tiger's Eye and Salvador; she was quick to try and get Tiger's Eye to kill Evergreen, likely to get another leader out of the way. When they saved each other, she brushes over that and doesn't try to convince Tiger's Eye to kill Evergreen anymore; she just asserts herself as a leader. Horizon was the closest to Onion's group when they went to the old camp; I imagine she was remembering which way they went and didn't actually tell anyone, since Moose and Fire Opal were close to the end of their lifespans and would die out. She's quick to move on from both their deaths and barely respects or speaks about them after they died. She instantly resorted to 'let's kill Onion's group' when Arctic rolled up with barely any proof that they would actually be a threat; just Onion being the threat. When Tiger's Eye died, she was more focused on getting Fire Ruby's power than letting Evergreen let out her anger and invalidates her pain. When she mistakes Evergreen for Tiger's Eye, it's clear she sees them as the same thing; venomous weapons under her control, based on how she instantly wanted them at the front lines of attack. And now that Horizon has absolute power over all the groups on the mountain, Fox Heart, Evergreen, Fire Ruby, and now Finch all under her control, plus the respect from everyone and the ability to manipulate while under the guise of 'sweet little sister that was swept up in Tiger's sacrifice', she's the first villain to genuinely have succeeded in their pursuit of power. Quartz died before she could establish the Burnings. Moose and Fire Opal brought it to glory, sure, but they didn't have control over the group. Onion was swept up in his own desire for revenge; Firecracker too. Dragonfruit was unable to kill Fire Ruby and Onion for revenge, her ultimate goal. Slasher was unable to become the king of the Frozens. A lot of other villains were manipulated and/or changed. Horizon had put the desire for power and her own ego as the next queen over anything else. And she did succeed in the end.
  12. Rise to Power Dragonfruit had her final child; a light pink twisted-snout female. She looked up at Pomegranate, but Horizon shoved her away, grabbing the young child. A dark glimmer was in her eyes, and her haunting smile was a bit horrifying. "Goodbye, Dragonfruit. And thank you for this child." Startled, Dragonfruit looked back over at Pomegranate; Alecto jumped on him, tearing out the back of his neck with ease. Dragonfruit screeched in shock and fear, lunging forwards towards Alecto. Arctic jumped forwards, holding back Dragonfruit, when suddenly large fangs tore into her scruff and she was overpowered, bleeding out quickly. The last Dragonfruit saw were the cold, dark eyes of Horizon. Elsewhere on the mountain, elderly Dodo looked down at a handsome orange-crimson male. "King, I saw it in your eyes when you were born. You carry your grandmother's strengths and leadership skills. That's why you were named King. Somewhere on the mountain, there is an Empire full of horrible selfish nichelings. You need to fix them. You need to make them strong, like you." King looked up at Dodo, straightening. "..I'll fix them, I promise you. I'll make them strong, vicious, and powerful." Dodo nodded at him. "I'll be watching you when you do." A new villain or hero, warlord or emperor.
  13. Correction: Fearless is the child of Firecracker and Emu; they did not help Parrot. Forest was the one who helped Parrot; she died shortly after Slasher's failed rebellion.
  14. The Beginning of the End I'm back baybeeeee Evergreen watched Onyx, before hearing snows getting stomped behind her. Turning, she watched a small child step up to her and Salvador. "Hello!" The resemblance the child had to Firecracker was horrible. Evergreen forcibly stopped herself from flinching. "Who are you?" "I'm Ghost!" The gray male smiled. "And I heard there was a tribe up here. I wanted to join." Evergreen nodded. "I'll bring you to the other leader, but I'm fine with you joining." The heat-bodied child seemed to have the haunting, judgmental spirit of Firecracker loom over him for a second, blocking out all light. Evergreen blinked, and it all vanished. I really need to move on.. but how? "What's you name?" Horizon grinned at the winged nicheling. "I'm Finch.. I think I came from the sky. Or something. I just fell into that hotsprings, and-" "Don't worry too much. We don't bite." Horizon patted his head again as Finch giggled a bit. The two went up the slope, when Evergreen approaching Horizon. "Tig- Evergreen, who is this?" Quickly correcting her mistake, Horizon felt horrible. Evergreen acted unaffected, her newly adopted tendency, making it impossible to see how she was feeling; but it was clear it hurt her, no matter how much she hid it. "Ghost here wants to join us; I'm fine with it, but I wanted your input as well." Horizon nodded. "He can. Where did he come from?" "I'm Rowan and Carrion's child!" Ghost smiled, like a bright light shining next to a dark shadow. "They said something about a tribe up here I could join. So I did." Horizon nodded. "How are they doing?" "Fine. But boring. They lounge around all day and do nothing exciting! So, not fine." Horizon laughed. "Good for them." If only I could live that way. Fearless pulled Laika down the mountain, out of view. Laika squirmed. "What was that for!?" Laika picked dirt out of her fur. Fearless stared down at her, emotionlessly. "Did you help Evergreen kill my mother?" Laika shook her head. "No! Of course not..!" Fearless had a twitch, before pure fury overtook them. They grabbed Laika's throat, digging their claws in as Laika struggled and screeched. "Don't lie to me, I saw how you looked at Evergreen. You helped that monster. You deserve to die as much as her." Laika roared in agony, before Fearless dropped her body. Laika meant nothing to them. (Ignore Dragonfruit) One down, one to go.
  15. check your controls, and if that doesn't work, leave the game and get back in. if it continues, try uninstalling and reinstalling (if you have steam or another game installation website that allows you to) other than that, don't really know what else to do..
  16. I've never hid a topic before.. I've only deleted old ones. So I'm not exactly sure how.
  17. I have returned : D Probably no post today but maybe tomorrow
  18. Update We have power! Internet should be back up in the next few days : )
  19. So uh Theres kind of an internet and power outage at our house There will be no internet or power until Saturday / Sunday, so no posts. Sorry about that ahahaha
  20. High Skies and Distant Shores "Wait!" Alecto grabbed Fox Heart and Plum, easily dropping them down under her. "This is Fox Heart. And her child with Lichen, I presume?" Plum looked at Fox Heart, who nodded. Fox Heart: "We also have another back with the rest of the group. Pomegranate and Dragonfruit wanted to take care of him for me while I went to find Lichen.. his name is Onyx." Fearless nodded at Alecto. "Take them back to Fire Ruby. Me and Evergreen will go back to Horizon's group to grab Onyx." The last sentence they said was edged with ice, but nobody really noticed. Fearless and Evergreen raced back to Dragonfruit and Onyx. Evergreen: "Horizon! Fox Heart says that this child is hers." Dragonfruit and Pomegranate exchanged a glance. Horizon nodded, grabbing Onyx with her paw. "Dragonfruit is also expecting. Arctic, Salvador, take Pomegranate to the hotsprings as well. We'll bring Dragonfruit once Onyx grows a bit more." Arctic nodded, grabbing Pomegranate by the scruff and dragging him away. Pomegranate struggled out of their grasp, and instead walked. (Ignore the balance bear) Horizon came over to the hotsprings shortly after the two, and could hear gasps and murmurs among the group. Shoving her way to the front, she saw something so bizarre, she thought she was hallucinating. A small brown child in the middle of the group had the wing of a blue bird. Horizon felt his feathers softly, patting the child's head, staring at the high sky. She was thinking of Tiger's Eye, and how her sister had really blessed the tribe, both when alive and when dead. She will live on forever. Somewhere on a distant shore, a pink male raced down a mountain's slope, tumbling the rest of the way down, a trail of disturbed snow following his path to the sea. He had heard the story of Blood Sky. He wondered if the ocean was too cold to swim in here. He hadn't heard the story of Sycamore; this place was the cause of his entire life, and yet he knew none of it. Lichen had been forgotten his entire life. Just a pawn on a chessboard of creatures; a background character in the stories of Frost and Fire. Lichen ran into the water, kicking up sand and cold currents before reaching the edge of the shore. He scanned the sea, and to his dismay, he saw no water breathing plants. There was nothing for him here, but suffering. And more importantly, what else could be out there? There was no way out. He could never save his family. If only he were younger. If only Fox Heart and his child weren't stuck here. If only there was some path out of this cursed island. A path.. He looked around, before spotting a trail of stepping stones, going out into the deepest waters. Maybe there was a way. Maybe he could save his family.
  21. Sorry about not posting lately, things have been chaotic. I might be able to make a post tomorrow or later today.
  22. Scarlet Snows Graphic mentions warning! Be careful while reading if you're sensitive to that. This is also Evergreen-beats-the-crap-out-of-Fire-Ruby-Salvador-has-realization-beat-the-children post so Evergreen looked down at Tiger's body in complete shock. After the surprise, it developed into angry sadness. Fire Ruby was smiling like a maniac, her face half melted from the venom, revealing a bit of bone, the rest of the area still dissolving. Evergreen grabbed the back of Fire Ruby's neck, throwing her down the mountain. She landed on her shoulder and the roughened side of her face, peeling off more venom. Evergreen leaped on her, clawing into the red female. As his sister took vengeance, Salvador looked down at Tiger's bones. He picked up her skull, feeling her venomous fangs with his nimble fingers. He couldn't believe that anyone would want to kill her. But then again, Salvador felt the emptiness her death had left quelled by what had also been left behind. She and Evergreen had brought the Empires together once more, into the Frozens. She had taught Evergreen to be better. She had saved the Frozens from death. She had helped Salvador find usefulness. She had, most of all, led the future of the Empire on a route to greatness; Horizon and Evergreen would be great leaders. Salvador grinned to himself as tears slowly dripped out of his eyes. Tiger's Eye wasn't dead. She will forever live on. Evergreen had nearly clawed out Fire Ruby's eyes by the time Horizon and Alecto stopped her. Horizon: "Remember, we still need her ability to purr. That's the whole reason we came here." Evergreen was seething with rage, but slowly calmed herself, still holding Fire Ruby by the throat. "For now, we need to get the rest of the Organization." Pomegranate, Dragonfruit and their youngest child, Onyx, were chased down by Salvador, Arctic, Laika and Horizon. While Evergreen, Alecto and Fearless went after Plum and Fox Heart. Fire Ruby was left in a hotsprings. Fox Heart sat Plum down in a hotsprings, before turning to the Frozens to fight them off. Plum was like a second child to her; a second chance at parenthood on this island. She would fight for her life. The rest of the Empire closed in on Onyx, Pomegranate, and Dragonfruit. Horizon decided to spare them, since they were expecting a final child. After that, she might kill them or keep them as prisoners. Tiger's death had instilled a stronger fury in the Frozens, who tore into the Organization with much more force than before.
  23. Just going to say, the good ending would've gone down like this: During the battle, Tiger's Eye would've killed Pomegranate, but jump behind him while doing so, and act as if she had died to 'fake her death'. Evergreen would run over in surprise, and see Tiger's tail vanishing into the snow drift and trying to hide. She would then decide to let Tiger's Eye run away and escape the pressure to be an all-powerful nicheling defender of the Empire, and also put all that pressure on herself. Kind of like the sacrifice Tiger's Eye did as a teen to protect the Empire. Evergreen would act as if Pomegranate's body was Tiger's Eye, while also shoving Tiger's Eye down the mountain even more. The Empire would mourn Tiger's Eye, who escapes down the mountain and eventually falls onto a swamp port. She would have the same 'calling' realization thing. As the Empire is going back to the camp, Evergreen looks back and makes eye contact with Tiger's Eye. Both would kinda be like 'thank you for helping me'. Tiger's Eye goes to explore the swamps (not literally go to the swamps) and Evergreen goes back to the camp. . I think after that, I would copy down Tiger's genes by turning off blind genes and doing the same thing I did with Truffle and Brownie, reset her lifespan to teen, and maybe drop the save file here.
  24. its a bit confusing at times lol
