  1. Perhaps it could also provide cold resistance to baby nichlings in the mountains and heat resistance to them in the savvanah(because the burrow is protecting them from the elements)?
  2. Of course, it would be a pretty rare gene, that would never be in the starting pair but rather something you'd have to pick up from wanderers and rouges and also not in the mutation menu, sorta like the genes for albinism and melanism.
  3. I love the look of Balance Bears and they sort of look like nichelings, especially the ears so why not just put this idea out there? But forgive me I looked at the stats of the balance bear and don't really know what genes they'd offer so here's what I've got, feel free to add your own input and suggestions. Existing BB Genes: Black Eyes Normal Ears No Horns White Fur New Genes They'd Offer: (Note: I'm not trying to be op I'm basing theses genes off of the BB's actual stats) Far Sighted Eyes: +5 Eyesight( this may actually be a bit op) Balance Bear Paw/Claw - +1 Strength, +1 Collecting, +1 Fishing Balance Bear Snout - +5 Smelling, +2 Fishing Balance Bear Hind Legs - +2 Speed Bulky Body/Fat Layers(Idk what do call it) - +3 Defense(Maybe +2 if its too op) +1 Cold Res. (EDIT: Perhaps the large body could add a new ability call Upright Posture that would add some eyesight rather than have a really op eyesight gene) Balance Bear Pattern - This pattern(recessive) would mask any other patterns the nicheling had as long as it had 2 copies of the gene and would basically be exactly the pattern of the Balance Bear on a Nicheling body from ears to hindlegs. Stats: +1 Batesian Mimicry:(Or perhaps just +1 Distasteful Appearance) since the pattern resembles another Balance Bear it would make other Balance Bears as well as other weaker animals less likely to attack anything sporting that pattern (Just a thought) Ironically the pattern may also help camouflage in the jungle since its spotty Also do Balance Bears have tails? I guess I could add a BB tail gene too just for looks, idk what stats it would have, maybe like +1 Cold Res.(which is basically a fluffy tail) Lastly I know I might have stated it above but before you call any of these gene op think about what you'd have to do to obtain them according to how current hybrids in the game are bred, 1st you' have to get to the Mountain Biome, 2nd You'd have to survive long enough for a BB with a cub to spawn, 3rd You'd have to kill the parent BB and tame the cub(mind you BB's have a lifespan of a 100 days and 3 defense), 4th Wait for that cub to grow up and then breed with it, 5th Breed the recessive BB traits so that they are displayed as phenotypes. Actual Balance Bear Stats: (I just put these here for reference) 2 Speed 2 Strength 3 Defense 2 Collecting 4 Fishing 5 Eyesight 3 Hearing 5 Smelling 1 Cold Res.
  4. I honestly like the idea of both new hind-legs, a lot better than the original post about them. I hope both of theses get added!
  5. I think the feather stats should be adjusted to either: Feathers: +1 Heat Resistance, +2 Cold Resistance, +2 Flight or Feathers: +2 Heat Resistance, +2 Cold Resistance, +2 Flight If not the 2nd suggestion then definitely the 1st one, bird feathers are good at insulation because they can be fluffed up to trap and warm air between the air pockets of individual feathers creating a warm shield around to body of the creature to protect if from the cold air surrounding it. As for cooling all a bird has to do to get rid of that shield of warm air is to unfluff itself, I also read but am not sure if its accurate that feathers help concentrate heat on its surface not letting it reach of the skin and body of the bird allowing that accumulated heat to simply be blown away by the slightest breeze. I also think you should add this: Slick Feathers(inspired by penguins and other aquatic birds): +2 Heat Resistance, +2 Cold Resistance, +1 Swimming
  6. Perhaps this should be a whole other topic but maybe there could be a variant of this gene or this could be incorporated into this new gene but what about a vampire bat head or just vampire bat fangs? In appearance it'd be identical to your idea except with longer fangs, sorta like poison fangs on a bat head basically. This gene would also have the same abilities as the normal bat head, maybe with the exception of insect eating Perks: - Causes bleeding every time the creature attacks another animal - Coagulant abilities: increase the rate of blood loss on bleeding animals even if they have normal blood clotting(as well as more incentive to keep hemophilia out of your tribe otherwise they'd be in big trouble) - Distasteful Appearance - Perhaps +1 in attack?(I dont want to make this suggestion op but at the same time those fangs were meant to break through skin) - Regenerative abilities, basically sucking blood and causing damage to other creatures in order to heal its own wounds
  7. The way I pictured this is that the mutated female mane would look slightly different than the normal ones like perhaps its smaller or shorter/scarcer or paler(sort of how all water bodied nichlings have a blueish tint to their original fur color). Also at least it would repel or deter pesky rogue males and attract female wanderers. Perhaps it could add an intimidation stat into the game(if its not already in-game)?
  8. Maybe there would be a chance of a miscarriage only if a female sustains damage that same turn, I don't know about having a time limit to a pregnancy because I know some animals can stop the development of their offspring if the current conditions aren't ideal. Maybe instead if a female is pregnant there can be an option to forcefully miscarry at will and perhaps she wouldn't take damage as a cost but maybe she wouldn't be able to breed for a certain amount of days or all of her gems don't recover next turn due the stress she underwent.
  9. Before anyone reads this and criticizes this please note I wrote this out like a year ago and then never posted it(mostly because the mods and developers seemed busy with an update or official release, I dont remember), so sorry if some of the information here seems irelevant and also I'm not demanding all or any of this from the developers, Im just sharing some suggestions that could make the game more interesting for everyone.Cave Islands - Basically your pack lives in a huge damp underground cave, (I guess you can live underground on almost every island, unless the island is the cave itself). There pools of water scattered around. Its a bit dark in here and the temperature here is affected by anything above ground. It'll stay a normal temp most of the time but it may get hot at times or cooler and damper if it rains above.Food sources:RootsBioluminescent plants(new) - Shrubs that bare glowing fruits, they are also light sources(they light up all tiles within a 1 tile radius without having creatures near them)Fish swarmsRazoraniaMoles - They spawn out of holes but will come out and move around(like rabils) being that they're already underground. Their sight is horrible.LeechesRamanders(ram horned salamander) - they move around like rabbils until attacked then they will stay and attack their attacker. They have 1 in strength and live 10 days, they spawn near water.(idk what theyre called) but theyre based off of those pale ancient species of insects(?), crustaceans and invertebrates found deep in damp cavesPredators/Enemies -Snakions(snake/scorpion) - They move during the day and go after moles, babies(which they kill instantly) and teen nichelings. They won't attack adults unless attacked or right next to them. They have: 3 speed, 2 attack, 2 sight and 3 smellingHorned Leobats(horned lion/bat) - These creatures have bat wings attached to their clawed front paws, fangs(not poisonous but will cause bleeding everytime they attack), upturned goat horns, brown, black or gray fur and a medium length lion like venomous tail. Males have small plume of hair on their head. They would be on the cave ceiling and then just pop down like jungle apes/Possibly able to create hybrids with? Also possibly more underground/cave/digging themed genes(if we don't already have enough)
  10. I think these sorts of genes have already been suggested but this is my take on them and they never really made it in game, idk if that was purposely or if the developers had other priorities but I'll suggest them anyway. Hope you enjoy 😄 Marsupial body/pouch:I dont know how this may be integrated into the game but it could be added as a new gene in the body gene slot(marsupial body) or there would be an entirely new gene(pouch) deciding whether the nichling has a pouch or notObviously only females would express this and she can carry her 1 gemed baby around without the fear it being attacked or snatched by predators or birds, I suppose it could also warm the baby but other than that idk what stats this would add.(perhaps it could add heat resistance if grouped with the body genes?)Also I know this is sorta unrelated but speaking of gender specific genes perhaps females could have a gene mutation that causes them to grow a mane appearing male-like and I guess attracting female wanderers and repelling rouge males.Marsupial face:It'd basically look like a kangaroo or koala and it can use the licking ability to cool itself and others like how kangaroos do in real life.Marsupial ears:They'd be tall and erect kangaroo-like ears(the round ear genes would kinda make rounded koala ear genes redundant) And as for stats I guess they'd have standard +2 hearing and maybe +3 heat resistance due to their sizeKangaroo hind legs:They'd add a jumping ability which would funtion almost the same way as flying+1 or 2 strength(male kangaroos are known for their kickboxing)+2 or 3 speed(kangaroos are pretty fast)Stealth?(idk if it should add that stat)Kangaroo tail:Idk what this might add, kangaroos use them for balance when fighting irl so idk how this might relate to niche.Perhaps the tail could be used to hit small enemies and wanderers a few blocks away?Okay thanks for reading and feel free to leave suggestions.
