They have to have at least +1 Swimming.

I actually left swimming out on purpose, as I'm pretty sure most raptors couldn't swim

Perhaps, rather then strength it could give a large amount of bleed damage?

Isn't bleed damage determined by strength?

  2. Inspired by the volcanic island suggestion:

I couldn't find anything about this which surprised me a little given how cool the raptors claws are and how much people seem to want new hindlegs. Anyhoo, this would be based off of the huge toe claws of the dromaeosaurids. They would give +2 strength and +2 speed, as they were likely quite fast and agile. If climbing was added, it could be changed to +1 speed and +1 climbing as they were probably also good climbers

  3. More genes inspired by this suggestion:

The back sail would be based off of the Spinosaurus and the body plates would be based off of the Stegosaurus. Both would give +2 cold resistance and +2 heat resistance seeing as temperature control is one of the main theories about what the sail/plates were used for. They could also give +1 distasteful appearance if that's not too op because another theory was that the Segosaurus' plates were used to intimidate predators

Probably only one of these would be added, I'll put comments for both so you can vote for which you prefer the look of. I know I would personally like the body plates :D

  4. This would be a gene to go with the volcanic island suggested here:

It would be based off of the Parasaurolophus' head crest. It would give +1 smelling, +2 browsing and + voice reach. The browsing ability can be found here:

The voice reach would be the same as when a nicheling stands on a tree stump or up a tree, only it would be available from any space (except maybe underwater?)

It wouldn't have a mane. Instead the females would have short crests like Parasaurolophus cyrtocristatus and the males would have long crests like the Parasaurolophus walkeri and Parasaurolophus tubicen

  5. Based on this awesome suggestion here:

This would add two new trees, the cycad and the tree fern, and a new browsing ability to go with them. The cycad would be a very small tree and could be reached from the ground. The tree fern would be pretty small too, but tall enough that the flying ability would be needed to browse from it

The browsing stat could be obtained by new genes (which I'll make separate posts for) and possibly also a couple of the ones we currently have if anyone can think of ones it would work with. It would work like the collecting ability: the amount of points a nicheling has would determine how many food points it can get at a time

The first picture is a cycad and the second is a tree fern

The reason why the saltwater is to add some more difference between salt and fresh water. I mean seals aren't adapted to swimming in rivers. As for the blubbers defence that's for the blubber acts like a pretty meh shield when conflict occurs.

While most seals live in saltwater, there is no reason they couldn't swim in freshwater. The Baikal seal lives exclusively in freshwater and there are also some subspecies and colonies of other pinnipeds that live in freshwater. Any seal would be perfectly capable of swimming in freshwater, it just so happens that they are otherwise adapted to live at sea. There is no need to change the stats depending on the water

Also, I've just realised that seals don't even have hindlegs?

  7. The bird beak we currently have in niche is typical of insectivorous birds, so it would make sense for it to have insect collecting. I would like it to be changed to give +2 insect collecting, +1 digging (or collecting, but I think digging would make more sense seeing as birds with this sort of beak often use it to root up bugs) and +1 smelling. It could also be changed to give +1 smelling, +1 insect collecting, +1 digging and +1 collecting if people would rather it kept both digging and collecting. I'm not too bothered about how it's implemented, but I would like to see it get insect collecting

  8. I don't like the baby seal fur particularly, and I can't see flippers working for forelimbs. They could be made longer to fit the nichelings body but I think that would probably look silly. The hindlegs would be a cool alternative for webbed hindlegs, but doubling the stats in saltwater doesn't seem necessary. I like the blubber body, but I would like it to have +2 cold resistance and +2 defense instead seeing as there are a few ways to get cold resistance and only 1 (?) way to get defense

  9. I actually love this idea :D. It gives them an actual reason for wanting to sit in the nest. I would make it so only 1 male spawns at a time, and also make the eggs require at least 1 cracking to eat. Instead of making it togglable i would also shorten their lifespan so they werent as hard to kill

  10. You should look through the older suggestions - a lot of your posts seem to have comments saying that similar things have already been suggested. Even if you can't be bothered with that, try searching for similar things before you make a post. It's not a big deal, but as the rules say having 2 posts for the same suggestion can hurt the votes and make suggestions less likely to be implemented

Instead of attractiveness, which attracts nichelings of the opposite sex rather than prey, I would make it +1/2 fishing like the fishing tail

  11. I love this idea :D

My idea for its appearance would look something like this:

(sorry about any blurriness, for some reason my phone refused to focus unless I tilted it just the right way, and then give me only a second to take the picture)

    IMG_0498.JPG

Also, the reason that the head is so short is due to the pictures of spitting cobra heads I found on Google.

Also, maybe it could also give +1 attractiveness because of the frills, or have an ability to stun small creatures by quickly opening their frills. So, for example, you could stun a rabbil, and then it would be easier to kill.

Id prefer it with a hood like a cobra instead of frills seeing as it's based off of cobras. It could give distasteful appearance instead of attractiveness too (regardless of if it's frills or a hood), as the hood on cobras is used as a sort of warning to threats that it's about to bite or spit, rather than to look pretty to potential mates

I loved this idea so much I HAD to draw up a sketch before bed today xD I like the idea of it being an ancient gene, or at least one that's really hard to get, rather than giving it a cool down. The one I drew would, like the Derp Snout, not show what ears it has, showing the spade headpiece instead, but the dominant ears' stats would still apply, and like the Bearyena Snout it wouldn't have a mane. Also I gave it a blue toxic body because it's a squid, why not? xD I think the beak would be the same color as the horns, just like platypus beak and regular beak. Didn't know what to do with the suction cups, so I just made them pink in order to stand out from the rest of the body. I think on top of the spit ability it should also have +1 gathering and +1 cracking.

Ahh this is amazing xD I want nichelings with cuttlefish for heads so bad now haha xD

  12. Being able to crack bones open to get more food from carcasses would be great. The scavenging ability doesn't really make sense though, eating meat that's been dead a few days cant be any harder than eating meat that's just been killed. I also don't think that new genes are necessary, as things like the cracker jaw and nimble fingers would be perfectly fine for cracking open bones. Im also not too taken by the body, it sounds like something out of a sci-fi film.I'm pretty sure no animals are able to use bones as armour in real life

I love cassowaries so it'd be great to have something like this in-game! Imagine how formidable a cassowary-legged, bearyena-faced nicheling with ram horns would be. I feel like maybe the strength and speed should be balanced out so one has +1 and the other has +2, but cassowaries are both fast and powerful so I'm not sure.

I was going to say maybe you could suggest a cassowary casque, but then I realized no one really knows what it's for. There are some theories that its used to attract mates, so it could possibly be a horn type that adds +1 attractiveness, but again no one is certain as to why they have a casque (though it is sexually dimorphic) Sorry for rambling on haha

I would probably go with +1 speed and +2 strength. The bearyena hindlegs only add +1 strength and the cassowary's legs are definately more adapted for strength

Edit: while I love this idea, I don't know if this would work. The legs are way too long for nichelings, and if they were made shorter I don't think they would keep their strength. Only birds with particularly long legs like ostriches, cassowaries and sereimas are really known to use their legs to kick

Edit 2: I sort of forgot they could sit down lol

    I'm for these (de)buffs

    -1 Eyesight
    -2 Heat Resistance
    +1 Cold Resistance
    +3 Camouflage in Snow

Albinism has no effect on an animal's heat/cold resistance, but the lack of melanin makes them sensitive to UV rays. There are a few coments above which suggest ways to add sun sensitivity to the game. I would also only have +2 camouflage in snow, theres no reason for it to give better camouflage than white fur which looks the same

And maybe a pretty good pattern too that could be shown during the juvenile stages two provide additional camouflage (not really sure for which environment). This could increase the chances of avoiding bluebirds for new borns and the other predators, this is linking to how baby wild boars (who are extremely adorable by the way) have a different pattern than adults to hide in the leaf litter.

This should be given its own post. It says quite clearly at the top of the feature requests page that each new suggestion should be given its own seperate post, and I believe I've mentioned this to you a couple of times before. It's to avoid confusion if a post with multiple suggestions gets upvoted loads, and also to make sure each suggestion's votes can be compared to others fairly. A post with multiple suggestions could get lots of upvotes and no one would know which suggestion each vote is for. Please bear this in mind the next time you make a suggestion

As for the actual suggestion, I think this would be a great addition. Many animals have age-related dimorphism to help camouflage or otherwise protect the babies. Instead of being a specific pattern, it could be given its own gene slot. It would determine whether or not the pattern determined by the other pattern related genes (ie pattern type, colour, shape, size and density) stay with the nicheling throughout its life or disappear once it reaches maturity. This would solve the problem of what the pattern would actually look like and allow players to choose which pattern they want the babies to have

On Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at 1:23 PM, Biogamer said:

The baby boar pattern would give +3 camouflage in a biome depending on fur colour until the nichelings reach adulthood. Once a nicheling grows up they only get +1 camouflage, though if I remove it then there would be no need for this gene.

+3 camouflage is too much. A baby with stripes isn't going to be any better camouflaged than an adult with stripes. Also, if the adult loses the pattern when it reaches maturity why would it still have an extra +1 camouflage? Instead, I would leave the stats as they currently are for each pattern. A baby with stripes would have more camouflage in tall grass, a baby with spots would have more camouflage in the jungle biome, etc

  17. I love this, I want bright colourful nichelings so much. I'd  also like to see some brighter pattern colours to go with these

    @ChasingNyx those are gorgeous :D

@Sheireen I think a separate gene for orange would be useful for people who don't want to and up with red and yellow nichelings as well when breading. The red and yellow look a little more toned down in ChasyingNyx's picture compared to the ones we have right now, which I wouldn't mind seeing added as well if it wasn't too much work

@Jojo while I can see the logic in that, I would rather it worked like all the other colours. I would quite like to be able to use these colours for nichelings with non-avian genes as well

  18. This was mentioned in a suggestion for volcanic islands which would be pretty cool, go check it out here:

I thought I could expand on it a little bit, seeing as things like stats and a method to unlock it weren't mentioned. It's stats would be +1 smell, +1 strength, + charging and +1 browsing. The suggestion for charging can be found here:

And the suggestion for browsing can be found here:

It would also be immune to stunning from falling coconuts as the post linked at the top suggests

The one issue with this would be the mane which is useful for telling apart males from females. A mane would look pretty stupid on top of the dome and would be impractical, as it would get in the way when the head is being used as a weapon. My solution to this would be to remove the mane and to use spikes around the back of the dome as an alternative form of sexual dimorphism. The dome itself would stay the same, but females would have short, knubby spikes like fully grown Pachycephalosaurus and males would have larger, pointier spikes like the juveniles

It would also disable both the ear and horn gene slots
