Bird of the day. Simply bird species of the day. That's it.

Jan 15th, 2024- Indian Paradise Flycatcher

Reason for birb of the day is because it looks like it has a different bird's head edited on

January 16th bird of the day is the Hoatzin. This thing looks like a freaking dinosaur, I love it

Fun fact: The young of these birds have claws on their wings. Here's a photo where the claws are visible

Fun fact 2: They eat mostly leaves. The way they digest these makes them smell bad so they're nicknamed 'Stinkbirds'

January 26th (getting this done in the morning so I don't end up missing days again)

Blue Crowned Pigeon (also known as the Victoria Crowned Pigeon or Western Crowned Pigeon)

Nice colour and has silly hair

  • 2 months later...

Birb of the day is back! This time I won't make up for missed days, it's been a few months.

19th April- Philippine dwarf kingfisher! Wins the title for looking fantastic and also silly

Philippine dwarf kingfisher - Wikipedia

This is the first known photograph of an extremely rare juvenile south Philippines dwarf kingfisher. : r/Damnthatsinteresting

After 130 years of evading scientists and photographers, the minuscule and ultra-rare South Philippine dwarf kingfisher has finally been photographed : r/aww

Fun fact: there are multiple subspecies of this bird. While the southern subspecies has a more intense purple, the northern subspecies have blue spotting on their wings.

(this makes me want to modify the design of my birb fursona, Lo-Fi, with inspiration from these guys (paticularly the second picture)
