ghost blocks

Zixvir

Post

just reposting it here.

ghost blocks should be parts of you drone, they look like basic blocks, but, when you turn them on they become see-through,and go through terrain like ghosts. but when they turn on, drone parts still act as if they were basic blocks. this only affects drone parts  and not any thing else meaning drone parts are the ONLY thing that can bump into ghost blocks and and attach to them meaning you cannot use this as a shield. basically, when ghost blocks are unsolidified  they only interact with drone parts.if a ghost block solidifies in terrain it will break/Explode. if a ghost block solidifies inside of an enemy/ mission objective it will force that object out of the way in a random direction.I think that ghost blocks cannot be seen by sensors, or maybe they could be seen by other players sensors but not your own sensors. if a ghost block break/explodes while ghosted it will just explode like normal.

there could also be ghost fuel tanks and ghost batteries that combine both princaples, also in any multi player mode the ghost block will be comepletely invisable when in ghost mode to both sides(or just the other player)

example of a use: you can put a chamber of ghost blocks to have a multi purpose room that you could have a 3 in one, tnt inside, you could do the bio barrels, and trap black boxes inside to then destroy, you get the idea,  phantom mini drones, tnt rockets that trap enemies, etc.

feel free to tell me anything wrong about this post or if you have ideas and I will think it through the terrain with ghost blocks

Um, well, it's hard to imagine a use case for these that can't be more easily accomplished without them, to be honest.  Like, why would you want to go to the trouble of maneuvering a black box inside your ghost block box before destroying it, when you could just shoot it instead?  And, we're not just talking about adding one new block type... there would have to be a duplicate for each block that would be ghostable, and if you want phantom mini drones to be possible, that means they can't just be limited to basic blocks.  Also, there's the issue of how to handle when a player tries to re-materialize ghost blocks inside of terrain, or the edge of the container, or whatever else (and players would absolutely try).  It's a neat idea thematically, but honestly, just seems like way more trouble than it's worth.

the block will just break or move out of the way like any other block.
