The six kits, from the alpha to the runt, patiently waited. Then.. They heard a noise from the forest and ran back to their den. "What if it's the Lost One?" The fourth kit asked, her tone full of fear. "The Lost One doesn't exist!" The beta barked. "But what if it does?" The runt asked. "Souls don't make noise!" The alpha barked. "But what if it's the Lost One's body?" The third kit said. "Bodies cannot live without souls." The beta stated. "How do you know?" The fifth kit pitched in. "Because I'm not-" The beta cut off as a noise came from just outside the den. The six kits went silent. Then.. "Are you alright?" The kits' mother asked as she entered. Her voice muffled by a mouse dangling limply from her jaws. The kits were relived. They had been frightened by the story their mother had told them a few nights before... ...
