I get the idea, but I personally don’t think that would work with the games overall aesthetic. You could pull it off, but I think all blue, or green underwater like the original post states, would be a better fit.

yeah I know, it would need a very precise color coordination to still fit with the overll game aestetics if it is even possible at all  but when I read this post it was the first thing that came to mind so why not share it :)

Not all are combinations, there are fish swarms, and there are some creatures which are more like alterations like the goldleech, razorhana and others

oh... and I thought the goldleach was a goldfish leach hybrid and the razorhana a razorfish piranha mix

anyways, how about naming them Geep or Shoat (Sheep&Goat) because if they were part sheep they would basically be the same but with more wool, wich would help on the mountains

though there are enough varied creatures on the mountains already

  3. or maybe every action symbol gets its own color, like,

    swimm blue,
    walk green,
    breed soft pink,
collect berries dark purple (berry colored),
    build nest beige,
    attack red

    or something like that
I imagine that would even help to prevent missclicks

  4. *pushing this post higher in the recently updated rating so people can see it better since most people with similar ideas don't seem to like to search if that already exists in this forum*

  5. @Fishyfishyfishy500 I think you are quite mistaken, Seri hasn't been in the Savanna for ages and the round eared bevertail Nicheling (I looked it up!) showed up in her lets plays on version 0.5.5 before the game was even fully released

if that is the only example I am still convinced Round Ears are a Story Mode only (what the "how to unlock" note in the Mutation Menu also says)

I've seen Round Ears on wanderers in Sandbox, I'm pretty sure.

Seri! Pixel Biologist encountered a Round eared Swimming tailed wanderer in the Burning savannah

in what version? I know it was possible in older versions but I am pretty sure it is impossible right now

I actually cheat a little at the start of every sandbox tribe just to unlock it (I mean... it is just cosmetic, that can hardly be called cheating, right?) but to have it officially unlocked after doing so in Story Mode would be cool

  7. maybe just get rid of the bright red and yellow and put in a coppery orange in instead?

I think these two colors (and how they interact with others) are the only problem the colorsysthem might have right now

but if there were a coppery orange fur gene (like a red fox or tiger) instead, that could lead in combination with beige to a (not as mustardy) dirty blonde yellow and together with the reddish-brown to a matted red

we would have still all colors but yellow and red would then be more muted, okay then there still would be the chance of the  darker pink by reddish-brown + white but it would be a lot less likely anyways and no more bright pink

  8. @cinnacat I get what you mean with that but still, people will see one and probably ignore the other because they already have voted for this, havent they?

I personally think it is better to put an alternative suggestion for the basically same thing in the comments of that thread where it also can be upvoted inside that threat and people can discuss the pros and cons of the variants better

  9. Feature Requests

Poison snout i dont know if its meant to be a snake head? it doesnt look too much like one to me, but its sort of a matter of opinion i guess.
As for the 'same post thing' it kind of confuses me? i figured it was okay to post same ones as long as they're different because then we have multiple opinions that can be sort of combined, stuff like that

Well, technically it is "okay" noone will remove your post or anything, but there is this little text for the feature request section:

Post, upvote and comment ideas for Niche improvements and new features here.

    - Please make a separate post for each suggestion. If you have ideas for two new predators, each predator gets its own post.
    - Upvote and comment your favorite ideas. This will increase their change of being implemented in the game.
    - Choose a clear, descriptive title, such as "New ears for cold resistance" or "More diverse water biomes".
    - The final selection of improvements/new features will be made in the next community voting in late 2018.
    - Search if your idea has already been suggested. Having an idea posted twice hurts both posts since all upvotes are counted seperately.

the Giraffe Head could include an elongated neck (not as long as a real giraffe of course, that'd be ridiculous, but somewhat longer than a regular Nicheling),

oh it could be a short giraffe neck like Okapi have! that would be cute

  11. @MysticTopaz oh I don't mean to be rude! nor to tell you "get rid of this".

I am just concerned that, with this similar entries, the votes could be split between them and in the end none gets taken so I left it there in hopes that people who see this and want to upvote can maybe upvote there too and one could post yours there too so you both can get both votes easier
does that make any sense? I'm kinda tired today^^°

  12. Different Tribes in one save file would be good but I don't like the way you are going about this

what if I want different tribes but not different restrictions for them?
the restrictions should be purely based in player decisions and not automatically restricted by tribe symbol

and technically being able to change what tribe one belongs to with just as much effort as changing the rank? I could see how this gets abused easily for grouping unwanted nichelings in a category that has not yet collected anything
or when you have multiple tribes and one is a little bit short on food, it would be too tempting to switch one or two to a tribe that has enough food and imediately back after that

if they should be seperate, they should be seperate from the start

The reason I wanted the Orcolf Body to be separate from the usual Water Body is because of the resistances brought on by the orca inspiration- that being a resistance to cold and some defense in exchange for not actually allowing water breathing.

hmm I see, I just always think water body looks like a small whale but who am I to deny waternichelings variations

I think better smelling makes more sense than swimming, since snakes have excellent smell (it mostly from their tongues but....)
Heat resistance instead of cold makes more sense too, since birds amphibians, and reptiles don't do well in the cold at all, except mostly birds of brey.

yeah, these are good arguments too
I'm really not sure what stats would be best for it

the main reason I want this is because I had this little girl 5b00cf8f7bbbb_2018-05-2003_27_35-Sheireen-StrayFawnCommunity.png.00cad61777b1d283cab16f1ffb1a99ed.png and thought "these ears look cute, but somehow weird with that beak"

  15. Many animals (snakes, birds, frogs, basically anything that is not a mammal or marsupial) have no visible outer ear

So why do all Nichelings need auricles?

    They don't.

I suggest an ear type that just isn't a visible ear. It would obviously have less hearing than normal ears but other benefits instead, like aqua/aerodynamic.
It could give +1 on swimming and flying because of less air/water resistance and maybe a little cold resitance, too, bacause a lot of heat goes away over the ears but that is not the main focus of this

  16. yes, yes, yes!! I usually give two mated Nichelings the same gem color in the middle so I don't forget which ones belong together, their kids then get this color left and right (right sometimes different if I accidentally(maybe not always accidentily) breed them with someone else or a rogue attacks)
This way I can see who is closely related to whom without having to untangle the familytree first

however... with only 5 colors available and one of them being a default for an unmated/unrelated Nicheling I could have only 8 paired up with each other before It gets confusing (I like having them mated for life)

More colors would definetly be a life saver for me :D

  17. That would be so very helpful!!!

Right now I am trying to keep track of mates and other family relations with the gem colors... but my sythem only works for small groups of ~10 before it gets too confusing Dx and special roles are easily forgotten

small notes would help a lot
