  1. Another negative suggestion, but I find that while the rogue males can be annoying they're not that big of an issue. Other than the crippled paws and kind of ugly derp snout they don't have too bad genes, they actually have really good fertility. As well as this, many male animals in real life will take any chance they get to kill babies that don't belong to them so that they can have a chance to pass on their own genes. Rogue males (only on hard/killer islands) would kill any babies left undefended. They would either go right up to any baby whether theres an aduly there or not and only back off if attacked by an another nicheling, or would only kill babies left on their own like the bluebirds
  2. I have an issue with the derp snout not having any real debuffs other than not looking very appealing. It's supposed to be an undesirable gene, but it's stats are alright. It gives +2 smelling and +1 distasteful appearance. The distasteful appearance doesn't even make much sense, why would a predator care if it's prey has a deformity or not? Anyway, I was thinking that facial deformities are sometimes associated with respiratory problems. Even flat-faced pet breeds like pugs and Persian cats often have breathing difficulties Basically, nichelings with the derp snout would have a small chance of being born with respiratory issues. It would be a permanent thing, so if a nicheling was born with it there would be no way of getting rid of it, but it wouldn't be contagious like sickness. An icon would show up above the nicheling's portrait in the same place where things like 'pregnant' or 'sick' show up. It would half the nicheling's speed, swimming and flight stats, unless it only has 1 in which case it would have no affect I get that some people probably dont want this added cause it's a bad thing, but I'd like to see the derp snout have some sort of negative side affect
  3. Would attacking an ape a certain amount of times be better? I haven't really played in any rainforest islands so I don't really know what they're like
  4. I did actually think about it taking away -1 stealth, I completely forgot about it when typing the post tho. I'll add it in
  5. I think this is a great idea, but I'd rather see a camel head than a giraffe head. It wouldn't be too different as they're closely related. I just think it would make a bit more sense seeing as camels live in desert climates and are therefore more associated with cacti than giraffes. I would also like to see the ossicones (the little horn type things) added as their own gene, and I don't think that would happen if they were already added as an ornamental feature on another gene
  6. I would like to see a camel head in the game, but I think it would be better as a way for nichelings to get food from cacti without taking damage. Adding it as a source of water doesn't make any sense, because as @Jojo said we don't have a need for nichelings to drink
  7. Multiple antlers implies we have a lot but theres only 2 different ones and they have their own separate stats. And as I said, they would just be for a different appearance. Not every new gene has to come with its own unique feature
  8. Yeah I do. I mentioned them? Neither of the antlers we have in game are reindeer antlers
  9. This would add a new gene slot with two or three genes. The first gene would be small horns, which would leave the horns/antlers the way they are now. The second gene would be big horns, which would change the appearance and stats of the horns/antlers. The stats would be +1 attractiveness (we need more genes which add attractiveness), +1 strength and -1 stealth (this would be for all horns/antlers except the ossicones, theyd still be too small to have much of an affect on stealth probably). The horns/antlers would be made bigger, and the ossicones (if they're added) could get a third ossicone as well. A gene for deformed horns could also be added, which could either affect the appearance only or could take away the strength given by the actual horn gene TThe pictures below are for, from top to bottom, the regular antlers, reindeer antlers, savannah horns, buffalo horns, polycerate horns and ossicones. The antlers and the savannah horns are both already in game or will be added in the next update, the rest are all suggestions I have made Related suggestions:
  10. They would add +1 strength and would be unlocked by attacking 50 times and spending 30 days in a hot climate. Females could have tufts on them, like in the last picture. The colour would be determined by the same gene that determines the colour of a male's mane. Males wouldn't have the tufts because they tend to wear away from necking, which is basically the giraffe equivalent of deer rutting Related suggestions:
  11. They would add +1 strength and would be unlocked the same way as the regular antlers. They would purely be for having a different option for appearance Related suggestions:
  12. They would add +2 strength and would be unlocked by having 50 nichelings with ram horns Related suggestions:
  13. They would give +1 strength like all the other horns and antlers and would be unlocked by attacking 50 times and spending 30 days on a swamp island Related suggestions:
  14. I figured. Have you got an actual specific source or?
  15. Really? Where did you hear this?
  16. The call being used for communication instead of as a lure for prey makes a lot more sense. And things underwater can have a scent, it's just that we (along with most other mammals) aren't able to smell underwater. As far as I'm aware, star-nosed moles are the only known mammals with the ability to smell underwater
  17. This would be useful, especially as more genes are added. Upvoted
  18. I take it you mean smelling and sight? A boost to the other senses would be good
  19. I know what convergent evolution is. You were giving me the impression that you thought beaks were a feature unique to birds, my bad. And yes, this is an avian beak, but that doesn't mean something similar couldn't evolve in some other group of animals. The platypus has a bill similar to ducks, hence the name duck-billed platypus, and cephalopods have beaks very similar to parrots. And it's not like niche particularly cares if a gene seems out of place on nichelings, I mean not only have we got the beaks we've also got things like the scorpion tail and antennae I still think that having 50 nichelings with wings as well as 50 with the cracker jaw is a bit much. As I said before, if you think a beak would look silly on a nicheling without wings then you don't have to give them a beak. Making it more difficult to unlock based on this opinion seems unfair when it's not really going to make much of a difference to your gameplay if you do unlock it
  20. I agree that +2 cold resistance is too much for the medium tail, it wouldn't make sense for it to have us much/more cold resistance than the stinky tail which is all big and fluffy. I actually made a suggestion a few days ago for a bobtail which would give +2 cold resistance as well
  21. I'll take your word for it, I took the stats from the wiki. I thought it sounded a bit op but I just went with it. I'll change it I was actually thinking it wouldn't affect the ears, seeing as neither of the beaks we already have in game do
  22. All birds have beaks, but so do/did a number of other non-avian animals. Monotremes (mammals), dicynodonts (therapsids, close relatives of mammals), testudines, ceratopsians, probably some other ornithischians too, and pterosaurs (reptiles), cephalopods (molluscs) and pufferfish and billfish (fish) all have beaks, even though none of them have wings. Apparently anuran tadpoles (amphibians) have beaks too. If you wouldn't want your nicheling to have a beak unless they have wings then thats cool, but needing both 50 nichelings with the fishing tail and 50 nichelings with wings seems a bit much. The same goes for the parrot beak Here are some pictures of non-avian animals with beaks. They are, in order, a fossilized skull of Endothiodon angusticeps (a dicynodont), a hawksbill sea turtle (a testudine), a beak from a Humboldt squid (a cephalopod) and a fahaka pufferfish (you should be able to work this one out on your own)
  23. I'd go with +1, seeing as it's main purpose is to smell bad. Cold resistance would be more of an extra thing
  24. And once again, if you think a beak would look 'funky' on a nicheling without wings then dont put it in your nichelings genetics, that's just your personal preference. The platypus couldn't care less that it doesnt have wings, so why should nichelings? Beaks might be a standard trait of birds, but they are not solely avian. Could you reword that? I'm a little confused
  25. It's no more op than the bird beak we currently have in game, which gives 2 smell, 1 collecting and 2 digging. Wings as well would make it twice as complicated to unlock. If you don't want your nichelings to have it if they don't have wings, then you don't have to make them have it
