Also yeah the colour were kind of unintentional on my part but then I just rationalised it by going "oh, they're really dangerous so they don't need to be camouflaged anymore, plus it kind of serves as a warning sign to others". The one to receive the honours of slaying the last ape is Neja, an adolescent born right after the first ape's fall.
