  1. Definitely the most detailed I've seen this suggestion. Little bit of personal thought, maybe they could be less hostile, only attacking if you either attack them first, or stay in their territory for a night, possibly marked somehow? Their territory might have more bountiful resources than the rest of the island you're on? Also I think you should be able to breed with them, but not the Alpha, unless befriendment measures are taken. Speaking of which, how would breeding work with the alpha? Would the next 'strongest' nicheling take over upon death by age, or would they have a special breeding trait within their tribe that copies them into an offspring?
  2. http://strayfawnstudio.com/forum/index.php?topic=610.0 Found your original topic, if you wanted it still. There is currently an option to roar at other creatures, but I've only noticed it with the bearyena snout. I think the skill was labelled intimidating appearance? Anyway, I think the bearyena snout could have the capacity to add the call bearyena option. Maybe even have a chance for it to be friendly? Could call the associated trait with howls/vocalisations calling, since the point is to call in new creatures.
  3. Maybe instead of proper dragons, just a flying reptile? Has scales, clawed feet and general reptilian appearance, with bird beak, feathery tail and wings? I know it's not a dragon, but I feel like it would be more in line with Niche's cobbled together mash up creatures.
  4. I think the prowler could be a cool idea. Some thoughts on possible genes we could get from them: Prowler Eyes, provides more sight than regular eyes. Prowler Legs, gives more speed but less strength than bearyena paws Prowler Tail, Gives heat resistance, longer and thicker than regular tail Maybe combine it with something, since the bearyena's two animals merged into one?
  5. This doesn't sound like a bad idea, maybe have the tides rise one or two tiles every few days, then go down after a few more.
  6. Maybe rename the tails Stinger Tail and Flashy Tail, since I've noticed they try to avoid actual animal names, other than their own bearyena, in the genes.
  7. As a togglable option on world start it could be nice for those who want it.
  8. I think a kind of challenge mode, where you have to evolve X, or breed so many nichelings without incorporating Y could be a fun little addition.
  9. Yeah, that could work, using a system where saved nichelings get a chance to spawn dependent on biome and their genes. Could create a similar system for other genes, like a saved nicheling with toxic body will more often spawn on islands with toxic berries or similar.
  10. The animation. I think it's a bit late for a warning there.
  11. I think with the tunnels, have a chance for some kind of snake or aggressive mole creature to spawn inside, rarely, just so that it's not 100% safe from dangers.
  12. My original thought was to make it so that the disasters began to limit what was available, forcing you to move on, but I decided to just go with changing things up instead
  13. Always up for new hybrid creatures. Another idea might be a rabbitcat, small body, ball tail, hopping legs, cat eyes, whiskered snout, tall ears, and a paw that could have speed and attacking stats?
  14. I like the idea of variable illness sources, and I agree that cold resistance should have an impact on weather illness's. Could even create more variance to the effects, like a particular sickness results in the nicheling eating more to keep it's strength up, or some such.
  15. i like the scarring idea, probably could add different types of scars for different wounds, like a parasite could leave a circular scar, whereas a bearyena attack would leave either a bite mark or a swiping scar. Just some more ideas for a cool suggestion.
  16. Always happy for more variation, and I like the idea of more unique patterns, but in my opinion the magic's going a little too over-the-top. That being said, I do have a contribution to the idea. I can see a sort of mysticism being produced from the gems, having a kind of influence on either other creatures or plants, I think a way to unlock things with a special type of rock or other interactable object would be a good way of implementing it, maybe different biomes have different abilities available?
  17. Mystic, I think the parraven is a little late on that one....
  18. A test area for creating creatures sounds really cool, and having the chance for something saved to spawn somewhere would be nice. Probably have to have a complexity setup so that you don't get apex nichelings appearing right out the gate though.
  19. I think something as simple as allowing anything that hasn't used energy during the day to do so at night would be enough to begin a whole nocturnal lifestyle with your chosen nicheling, especially if some of Rice's genes are added alongside. One thing I like particularly is the biolumiescant gene. Maybe have it be a pattern you have to unlock/breed in?
  20. I think this would be a worthwhile long term goal for the devs. Even if it's only small two to four player sessions, it'd be fun to see how another tribe would work with/against your own.
  21. Maybe have it like a hibernation thing? Where the animal essentially 'goes to sleep' for a period of time. I think you'd have to make a nest or some such for the hibernation to start, then when the nest degrades it takes a day or two to wake up? I think it'd be plausible, even if hibernation doesn't actually stop aging. Also be useful for when you have nichelings that have nothing to do in a tribe.
  22. Sounds like a fun little addition. Maybe even give the wild nichelings a little character with sad or happy faces.
  23. This sounds cool, I like the idea of being able to tell why something's coming at my little nichelings.
