  1. A few people have suggested a hair/skin gene slot, and I think it's a good idea. You could have thicker/longer/woolier fur for warmth, thinner/shorter fur for cooling, slimy skin for swimming, and coarse/stiff fur for protection. Might even change spiky body to spiky fur perhaps?
  2. I played simcity quite a bit too. Nothing quite like a volcano appearing in the middle of your town to shake things up.
  3. A difficulty setting might be nice. On the easy setting, maybe instead of no immunity sickness, have a fifty-fifty chance of getting it? Or perhaps it goes away after a few days? Removing it entirely feels a little too easy to me.
  4. As realistic as this might be, the problem I find is that I've ended up with only two of a certain gender in a tribe of twenty a few times now with no outside nichelings appearing, and a feature like this would have made a bad situation worse.
  5. The thought of adding new 'skin' types sounds like a good idea, and I agree that the underwater area could use a little more love. I think there's already a lot of colour customisation available at the moment, but who ever said there's too many options?
  6. I like the idea of colours affecting heat tolerance, I'm also all for a fur-type gene that could give our nichelings big fluffy coats or short coats. Could even move spiky body to fur type.
  7. I agree that the derp snout is one of those genes that's there to make things more difficult, especially when you're trying to keep a particular snout, but I do like Tam's idea, make it randomise how 'derpy' it comes out with each child. Between the eyes, mouth and nose, there's plenty to make it more interesting, if not more appealing.
  8. This is something nice and simple I can get behind. I do like having a way to track in game time-frames.
  9. I like the idea of this being tied to fertility, as you said, lower fertility genes mean longer lifespans, and vise versa. I think a way to do it would be to tie a number to each fertility gene, and those two numbers combined would make the lifespan. Example: Double high fertility live 15 days, but if you have one high and one low fertility, it could be more like 25 days. Like you I have no idea how hard this might be to implement, but I feel like it would make for a nice way to make nicheling lifespans more interactive, as opposed to a slider or other option. An easy way for increasing breeding times I think would be to force the longer lived nicheling to be nest bound for longer. Either you'd need to keep making new nests, or you just have to wait it out.
  10. So, what I'm thinking is have events that change the current island either temporarily or permanently. Some disasters could remove or generateA few examples I can think of: Floods/tsunamis, which could raise the water level, and possibly have a small chance to wash away creatures/nichelings near the shore. Possibly follow the flood with new plants growing in the flooded sections once it's drained back down. Earthquakes, which can raise and lower tiles, possibly removing food sources or nest sites, while also creating new food sources and sites. Famines, where bushes grow slower and animals spawn less often. A good reason to store up a lot of food, just in case. Gales, have a chance to uproot food sources or even move your nichelings around. Could also blow in a random wild nicheling or predator.
  11. I think this could be a really cool idea. Maybe even have it so that genes from a particular 'set' either give a bonus for being together, or require other active genes to be bred in first. Could add even more depth to breeding new genes in.
  12. Another really cool idea. I think making the smell/hearing senses more important would be a really good idea, particularly if you have nichelings with low eyesight, but strong hearing or smelling.
  13. I like the idea of adding seasons to make the game more engaging. Could certainly add a bit of variety to the game, and limit the ability to just mass giant food supplies.
  14. I'm in favour of this. Both in Niche and Spore I always tried to record my species history. I think this would help a lot with remembering Niecheling personalities for those that like to develop them.
  15. I like this idea, being able to have traits like manes or larger antlers for males/females, with some way of choosing which gender displays the trait sounds really cool.
  16. I really like this idea. I also like Cinder's addition of being able to save a Nicheling from a current tribe as well.
  17. I really like the idea of the gems sort of fading as they get older, that would be a really cool feature not only for the easy identification, but also for the RP side of things.
  18. I like the idea of more creatures to breed with that aren't necessarily other niechelings, like maybe something that instead of being a specialised fighter have a horse/rabbit type creature that specialises in running or foraging to breed with. For 42: I've only bred with one befriended bearyena, but I'm pretty sure you just have to have a female, and it needs to be an adult, they age the same as nichelings.
  19. Heterochromia would be a nice addition, I feel like it could be done by having a rare chance for both eye colour genes to be active instead of one, with a more likely chance if one or both parents have the condition.
  20. This could be a cool mechanic, it'd also make getting new genes from outside sources, like immunity genes, trickier.
