  1. Crowshade hated the way every nicheling turned their heads towards the group as she and the other two emerged from the grasses. Most of their gazes were curious but one nicheling, a brown nicheling with darker brown spots, looked at them with disdain. “Who are these three?” A golden-furred nicheling with orange markings and a fluffy tail asked as she looked at Speckleheart, this nicheling spoke with a soft and gentle tone of voice. “They’re a clan named WildClan from what they’ve told me” Speckleheart answered before quickly speaking up again. “They’re injured and I was wondering if they could stay at least until they’re healed” Speckleheart asked making Twigstrike’s head snap towards him. He was under the assumption that his clan would’ve been fine with it but why would he bring unknown nichelings to his clan’s camp if he wasn’t entirely sure it would be accepted? “Well of course, the pink one looks like they can barely stand from that injury” The golden nicheling spoke as she looked at Blossompaw sympathetically making Blossompaw unsure how to feel. She wanted to come off as strong and capable which wasn’t exactly easy when you have such a severe injury. But she tried as she straightened her posture as best she could. “I can stand fine honestly” Blossompaw said as gave the nicheling a grin that only seemed to amuse the nicheling. “Well still you three are more than welcome to stay until your injuries heal, welcome to WhisperClan” The nicheling purred as she gave a gentle smile that almost made Crowshade want to drop her guard. Most of the clan looked fairly unbothered by this announcement but the brown one with darker spots openly scowled in the three’s direction making Twigstrike’s fur mildly bristle at the thought of the nicheling being near him and his clanmates while they’re injured. “What’s your name?” Twigstrike asked with a twinge of suspicion as he noted that one nicheling’s reaction before turning his gaze back towards the golden nicheling. “Oh how rude of me to not introduce myself” The nicheling said with a laugh. “My name is GoldenStar, who would you three be?” The nicheling asked in return. “I’m Twigstrike, that’s Crowshade” He said nodding towards her “and that’s Blossompaw” he continued as he nodded towards Blossompaw who was trying to not show how much pain she was in at the moment, she had walked for a bit and her injury was still very fresh. “Blossompaw? But she looks like a fully grown warrior, not to mention you don’t seem to have a leader in sight” The brown nicheling with darker spots spoke making GoldenStar turn towards him with a stern glare. “Sparrowtuft” Her voice was still soft but it held an edge of warning. “You’re more like a rogue group than a clan” Sparrowtuft didn’t seem to heed the warning as he sneered at the three causing all three of them to bristle. “Sparrowtuft! That’s no way to treat visitors” GoldenStar hissed causing Sparrowtuft’s eyes to widen in shock before a sour expression settled on his face. “Whatever, just don’t let them near the prey pile without watching them, they might be prey-stealers” Sparrowtuft retorted before getting up and walking off. Blossompaw suddenly did not want to be here, she’d take her chances with the bearyena thank you. “I’m sorry about him, he’s never been good at showing kindness to those outside the clan but he should at least know better than to act like that towards injured nichelings” GoldenStar said with some exhaustion seeping into her voice. Twigstrike simply nodded as he went to take a step before his front left leg reminded him of why he was holding it up. “Oh right, Lightstream could you make sure these three get the necessary herbs?” GoldenStar asked as she looked over at a white nicheling with red eyes. “Maaaybe I have room for them” Lightstream said with a grin but specified once she saw the wary expressions of Twigstrike and Crowshade. “I’m joking, follow me you three” She said as she rose to her paws before walking towards a den. Blossompaw was the first to start following because she may not trust that Sparrowtuft but Lightstream didn’t seem malicious not to mention that at this point her injury was hurting so badly that she just wanted to rest. Crowshade followed next as while she only had minor injuries she wanted to keep an eye on Blossompaw to make sure this medicine nicheling didn’t try something. Twigstrike hesitated but quickly caved as he realized that’s where the other two were going and he didn’t want to be alone with a bunch of unknown nichelings. It was quickly and easily decided that Lightstream would check over Blossompaw first due to the severity of her injury. Crowshade kept a very close eye on everything that Lightstream was doing, which mildly unnerved her if she was completely honest, just to make sure she wouldn’t try anything. “Well at least it seems someone put something on the wound already” Lightstream commented as she finished putting the needed herbs on Blossompaw’s injury. “I did” Lightstream resisted the urge to flinch at Crowshade’s blunt and mildly harsh tone as she instead turned towards Twigstrike. “Your turn now, give me your paw please” Lightstream said making Twigstrike hesitate before slowly giving her his paw. “Thank you” Lightstream said with a comforting smile that only mildly warded off Twigstrike’s wariness. “Sure” He replied as to not be completely rude but Lightstream took no offense to it as she considered it from their perspective. They’re badly hurt, there’s only three of them compared to a whole clan, they don’t know any of these nichelings, and they have to rely on complete strangers to not harm them while they’re recovering. “Which of you are the leader of your clan?” Lightstream tried to make small talk as she applied an herb to Twigstrike’s injury. “I am, I just haven’t gotten the chance to get my lives” Twigstrike answered with a mildly defensive tone which Lightstream picked up on. “I’m not judging you” She was quick to reassure as she realized that might’ve come across as rude. “That’s good” Twigstrike replied as he realized he might be coming off as hostile and he’d rather not anger the nichelings that are going to be near him and his clanmates while they sleep. Meanwhile Blossompaw couldn’t stop herself from looking around the den that she was now resting in. It was different from the WildClan medicine den. Instead of being dug into the ground this one was above-ground, made of a mixture of woven grass, de-thorns vines, and mud that seems to keep it together making her idly wonder how it stays together when it rains. Then her gaze turned towards the herbs and her eyes shot open in shock. They were a huge mess of different herbs sitting in a massive pile without looking like there was any sense of organization. She’s pretty sure Mossbeetle would be caught dead before having such a disorganized mess considering his herbs were always sorted in meticulous piles that he constantly sorted when he wasn’t treating a nicheling or gathering more herbs. The reminder of her uncle brought down her mood as it started to truly sink in that she’d never have him lecture her for getting yet another thorn stuck in her paw or offer comfort in his own way by letting her hide from all the noise of the camp by allowing her to stay in the corner of the medicine den for a while. She drew her paws closer to herself as she blankly stared at the wall, being reminded that while this is a medicine den it isn’t THE medicine den she grew up with and had fond memories attached to. It only caused her to feel more out of place here than she already felt. “-ssompaw?” A voice suddenly cut through her thoughts and she turned her head to the side to see a concerned Crowshade laying a tail-length away from her and she noticed that Lightstream was no longer in the den, had she zoned out that long? “Yeah?” Blossompaw simply asked as she grinned to look more confident than she felt but Crowshade saw through it with ease. “Are you…alright?” Crowshade asked making Blossompaw’s grin twitch but she firmly kept it in place as she huffed. “I’m fine! Just need a moment to get used to the new place that’s all” Blossompaw replied as she instead focused her gaze on a wall of the den which only made Crowshade doubt it more but she had a feeling Blossompaw wouldn’t open up easily especially in a brand new place. “If you’re sure” Crowshade decided to drop it for now but she wasn’t going to let it go either. Twigstrike overheard the entire conversation considering he was also kinda confined to the medicine den but he didn’t comment as he didn’t feel it was his place to do so. He focused on watching the entrance of the den instead to check for any signs of danger or hostility from these other nichelings. The next sunrise Twigstrike had, despite Lightstreams protests, left the medicine den to go talk to GoldenStar as his mind had conjured a question he felt he needed the answer to. “GoldenStar?” The leader turned towards Twigstrike upon hearing the nicheling speak. “Yes? Are you supposed to be out of the medicine den?” GoldenStar asked as she glanced at his injured leg for a second before returning her gaze towards his face instead. “No” He answered her question easily before brushing past that in favor of asking the question that was bothering him. “Do you have a place you go to when you want to talk to StarClan?” Twigstrike asked making GoldenStar tilt her head. “Yes, why?” She questioned back as she was curious about why he’d want to know. “I’m the leader but I haven’t gotten a chance to get my lives yet because we can’t currently…get to the spot our clan uses to contact them” Twigstrike spoke carefully as he didn’t want to come across as weak to anyone in this clan, he wouldn’t want to make him or his clanmates easy targets, though it could be argued they already kind of are considering the injuries. GoldenStar’s expression turned to one of sympathy as she realized it must be more than just a fight with loners or rogues if they couldn’t even contact StarClan. “In that case I could show you where it is later” GoldenStar said as she easily agreed. “Is it possible you could show me now?” Twigstrike asked as he didn’t really love the responsibility being leader would bring but he would rather have his lives as soon as he could to protect his clanmates from threats. He wasn’t entirely sure he could trust these nichelings even if they seemed to be kind for the most part. GoldenStar was a bit surprised by his insistence but she didn’t think he had malicious intent so she nodded. “Follow me” She said making Twigstrike quickly follow after her, unaware that a nicheling from the clan saw it and scowled. = “Here it is” GoldenStar said as she nodded towards a tidepool near the shore and Twigstrike couldn’t stop a confused expression from appearing on his face. “A tidepool?” He asked as he stepped closer to it and looked into it. There was no special quality about it that he could see. “Yes, just touch your nose to it” GoldenStar explained but Twigstrike stared at her skeptically. “You’re not gonna try to drown me or something right?” He asked making GoldenStar look at him horrified. “Of course not! Do you think so little of me and my clanmates?” GoldenStar asked and Twigstrike resisted the urge to nod as he continued to stare at her. “…No I’m just…being cautious” Twigstrike responded as he turned towards the tidepool though he kept his ears sharp for any movement from her. GoldenStar was a bit hurt but decides she can’t blame him for trying to keep his clanmates safe so she tries to not take offense from it. = He touches his nose to the water and for a moment everything goes dark making panic surge through him before his vision returns and instead of the shore he finds himself standing on clouds with stars idly floating around. “Took a little longer than expected huh?” The familiar voice caused him to whip his head towards the sound and he couldn’t stop his surprise from showing as he saw the face of his mentor, though his pelt was now speckled with stars. “Daisyfall!” Twigstrike said as he turned around and bounded toward his mentor until he was only a tail-length away from him. “I’d love to chat but you’re here for your lives I’m guessing?” Daisyfall asked making Twigstrike slightly deflate as he realized he probably wouldn’t have time for idle chit-chat but he nodded. “Well your first life will be for being aware of your clanmates ideas and feelings” Daisyfall spoke before touching noses with Twigstrike in a way that reminded him of the sunrise he got apprenticed to him as he felt something strong rush into his body in a way that made him feel as if a strong breeze tried to knock him over. Daisyfall stepped back with a smile before vanishing making Twigstrike feel bittersweet. The next nicheling made him freeze as he had to resist the urge to bare his teeth as he saw the figure of his father Firefang appear before him. “A life for keeping those you love close” Firefang spoke as he touched his snout to his kit’s forehead and Twigstrike had to grit his teeth at the almost buzzing feeling this life gave him before Firefang stepped back with a remorseful expression before vanishing. “I’m so proud of you” The next nicheling made him smile as he saw the familiar brown pelt of his mother Robinbriar, her face was full of affection as she looked at her kit. “I give you a life for keeping those close to you safe” She said as she rested her head on top of Twigstrike’s long enough to give him his next life before stepping back with a smile. “I love you mom” Twigstrike whispered making Robinbriar’s smile turn slightly sad but didn’t miss a beat. “I love you too my wonderful kit” She purred before she vanished. The sound of pawsteps behind him startled him into turning around despite the fact he knew he was in StarClan at the moment and therefore safe. He froze as soon as he caught sight of the nicheling that was bounding toward him. “R-redpaw…” He whispered as he felt himself tear up at the sight of his sister. She had apparently not aged since she died as the tips of her ears only reached his snout so he had to look down to look her in the eyes. “Don’t be sad, we get to see each other again!” Redpaw said with a beaming smile. “And I’m not sick anymore!” She said and that caused Twigstrike to notice she hadn’t sniffled or coughed once which made a ghost of a smile appear on his face. “That’s great” He said honestly. “Apparently we can’t talk much though, so here’s a life for persevering even through the worst pain and events” Redpaw said as she tried to reach him before Twigstrike realized and put his head down so the two could touch noses before Redpaw stepped back. “We’ll see each other again” Twigstrike said making Redpaw nod. “Hopefully not soon though” Redpaw said which made Twigstrike’s heart clench painfully but he knew it was for the best, he needed to lead his clanmates especially at a time like this. The other four nichelings appeared along with many he didn’t recognize especially the one that spoke. “You’re aware of the burden you’ll carry, that you will have to make the clan your priority correct?” A bright red nicheling with black stripes and a very fluffy tail spoke. “I’m aware, CanaryStar informed me of the leader’s duties” Twigstrike replied but he quickly piped up with a question. “Who are you though? I don’t recognize you” His question made the red nicheling pause and he wondered if they wouldn’t answer in the usual cryptic StarClan fashion. “I’m SquirrelStar, the first leader of WildClan” Twigstrike was pleasantly surprised to get an answer but he would not be complaining about it. “With these lives and the promise to prioritize your clan you are now the official leader of WildClan, and with your role your new name TwigStar” SquirrelStar announced making the other StarClan nichelings cheer his new name. Twigstrike- or TwigStar now he supposed, knew this was coming but getting his official name made the feeling of leadership rest a little heavier on his shoulders but he made a silent vow to keep WildClan alive and give them a better chance to thrive. = TwigStar flinched awake causing a few droplets of water to go flying. “How did it go?” GoldenStar asked after seeing him ‘wake up’ from the visit to StarClan. “I’m officially the leader of WildClan” GoldenStar smiled after hearing the news. “TwigStar now I’m supposing?” She asked as she stood to her paws. TwigStar simply nodded. “Wonderful, though we should probably go back so your clanmates don’t worry” GoldenStar said and TwigStar couldn’t disagree so he got up and followed her back to camp.

  4. Day/Month 9 It seems that 002 gave birth during Diana-IV’s short night. The newborn, dubbed 004, bears a resemblance to both 001 and 003. Dr. Thompson hypothesizes that 001 is the other parent, while Dr. Bluebell suspects parthenogenesis. A DNA test will be done to answer this question (we have DNA samples from 001 and 002 stored at Outpost Apollo) when 004 has reached five months of age. 004 The other pack members have attempted to initiate play behavior with 004, despite it being a newborn. 5. Day/Month 6-8 The pack has started to clear out the area, with 002 building a nest using tall grass (Deorthia Herbacea) that 001 and 003 have harvested. 002 has killed an unidentified small white creature and eaten it, confirming that Dianae Felivulpes are omnivorous. It has been raining for two months straight, something which doesn’t seem to bother the pack. -Dr. Emilio Albrecht, head of project
