Alpino_WILL_STEAL_ oats! Posted October 18, 2018 Posted October 18, 2018 I want to know if it’s possible to create a highly advanced drone that chucks all of its logic out with a decoupler and connectors?
jbox1 Posted October 18, 2018 Posted October 18, 2018 Easily! Many people do it actually! Just note, this is often not incredibly beneficial, as the gates should be perfectly fine near the core or back of a drone, but if you already have a button binded to a key, the extra part usually doesn't hurt to much. In case you're wondering, just bind a button gate to a decoupler and let 'er rip!
StumpytheOzzie Posted October 18, 2018 Posted October 18, 2018 One of my failed designs did this. Just a deoupler, mini thruster and about 15 logic blocks wandering off... out the sumo ring. That was about the only part that actually worked properly 1 1
Alpino_WILL_STEAL_ oats! Posted October 19, 2018 Author Posted October 19, 2018 What I mean by this is that you could have and advanced large logic array but no space to store it, and with that, you could create a very smart drone that could change the meta, and I mean a lot of logic.
Alpino_WILL_STEAL_ oats! Posted October 19, 2018 Author Posted October 19, 2018 Like belt fed rail guns, or highly advanced heat seeking magnet nets. (I’m joking about the net one)
Eldrad Posted October 24, 2018 Posted October 24, 2018 It costs 3 blocks (decoupler, fuel tank, and thruster) to do but is generally worth it in my opinion if you have logic and already win tournaments most of the time. It removes a loss condition of random damage/explosions taking out an important piece of logic. Download Jack from the steam workshop to test how you do against damage. You can generally get away with tying it to a signal which starts out on that isn't on 100% of the time (i.e. don't bother adding a button). But if you really want it to keep heading as far away from the ring as it can you can set all of your fuel tank's empty and full signals to the same thing and get the effects of a button without spending the block.
