  1. Well, you did get an interesting character out of it. I've only had three so far. My episodic memory, the memory for events, is downright horrible. Being a memorable nicheling are the 8 hours of fame. 😅
  2. I feel so bad for the cub, and I have done some really morally grey things in Niche. Do you have an ending in mind, or would you go where inspiration takes you? Tough it has always been somewhat funny and sad when one of my starters finds a better mate. Once they even had the same immunity as the rejected. I released him to find happiness elsewhere.
  3. I think the forbidden fruit was the berry bush. No, but seriously, it just reflects the search for eden one might find in all kinds of places touched by religion. Even communism has the march of time.
  4. I am waiting for the 10th september. Because I have school. And then I won't be able to catch up on the chemistry this horrible school system deprived me of. Because I have, eh, kind of school. Life is one big cycle of circular logic.
  5. On the bright side, we also have really large visitors sometimes. Or my hands are small. Maybe both. I love spiders. Spiders are cute.
  6. @Jojo I fixed the drawing a little anyway. So I hope it works now?
  7. These were left to starve by the mother. We could only speculate on what exactly went wrong. What we do know is that they were very close to a construction site. It seems the mother visited less and less and eventually lost her milk. This one was a screamer, though. Allerted the whole neighbourhood. As I visited them daily, they saw me more and more as the actual mom, which was a situation I had never had when feeding strays. Something was very wrong. There was no resistance when we took them. She didn't search. They didn't call. Sick and malnourished, the three survived and have homes now. Two didn't make it. I still don't know if they would have had, had we taken them earlier, or if more would have died, as every day counts at that age. This isn't a single tragedy. There are way too many strays on the streets. Even in Austria, cats like these "belong" to certain farmers that don't feed or feed too little. They refuse to get the females fixed. There are too many cats, too little space and too little food. If they don't starve, the road gets them. It's the same every damn year. The few that make it prolong the cycle of misery. I am not sure which fate is worse. The construction was just a trigger.
  8. I don't make a habit of drawing, so I downloaded some scetch app and attempted something with my fingers. This cracker jaw is from a whims of fate challenge, the first matriarch to inherit the tribe. She would be a guardian spirit to guide wanderers, rule over hearth and reward the daring. Now you might be asking why someone would establish a matriarch when playing blind genes. I blame the random generator that lifted the creature limit from two to fourteen. As she didn't pass on her shortsighted eyes (or so it appears...) I am willing to pretend she lost an eye with her mother to the balance bear. From that angle, though. It's just a weirdly shaped cat with weird posture. I suppose that's how I see nichelings...
  9. That can vary very widely. The fastest way is to stick to as few animals and as few immunity genes as possible. Skipping islands, especially the starting ones is key. I recently got to whale island very soon and had the option to travel to Crossing directly. Realistically, 2 hours would be quite fast.
  10. On the other hand, this half-cat half-duck was born on the last day of his very colourful parents lifespan. He looks perennially pissed off.
  11. Here are some of the toxic line. I am sharing this one, though, because I am in love with that pattern. By far my favourite toxic-water-warrior-bird. Child of four lines. I hope she'll like the distasteful heir.
  12. I wonder if they'll use the bat-head to replace it. It might just turn out like a really adorable or really, really creepy version of the short snout.
  13. I'd like to check it out sometime, however... The last time I tried,... Well, rogue males everywhere and the home island immunity wasn't passed on normally. Which version would you recommend to other players?
  14. Rogue Island. I am not sure you'll like it, though, I tend to follow too many rules. Hard rules: it's best to use a safe that has all genes unlocked. You start on a hard Island with 100 food. You cannot mate with or allow wanderers into the tribe. With the console, your starting pair will be puny rogues. Derp snout, double no paw, no horn, frog legs, barely fertile, hemophilia, lean body, white fur, mask pattern. Either fully shortsighted eyes or one blind and one normal gene. Both mutation slots are decided by a random generator. In Addition, there is a 0-10 system attributed to each male. Roling a 0 means the female can receive a rec. mutation now. The mutation is chosen by rolling the random generator 3 times. Which genes will be best for the tribe is your choice, tough. Rolling 1-4 means the child born to the male in that order will receive a mutation. 8 allows one gender change. 10 to move one slot to the left or right when rolling for mutations of either parent. 5,6,7,9 will give you nothing. So do sick children. The goal is to create a functioning tribe without any of the starter's bad traits. Tip for feeding yourself: Picking poison berry bushes with a double no paw has a way higher success chance than normal berry bushes. This is the only challenge that might lead you to thinking: "I hope my starting female finds a rogue male, they have way better genes on average." Defining your own rules is fun, though. These are just some inspiration.
  15. I got my only J creature in the Jungle, aswell.
  16. Do you think they'll bring them back? They were so common, after all, but they don't really have much purpose.
  17. I am not sure if I catch your meaning. Is this a good or bad thing? I didn't really play niche when they had short snouted starters, so I wouldn't know.
  18. I suspect it might end up... As very large. Sorrounded by deep dark water With grass that only rarely regrows Plagued by seasonal heat and cold waves. The only solace being under the larger trees of the gigantic forest, spending shade and prey in Winter. Not very original overall, other attributes would likely be build on that basis and what would be available to make it more interesting. As it is, those are just preferences.
  19. I think I understand why the purr snout is unappealing to some, now. It really channels intent.
  20. Or has anybody found a short snouted wanderer lately? I don't miss it for the more obvious reasons, it's a little odd, though. My findings were mostly: Derp Snout > Purr Snout >/< rec. beak = active platypus beak. > big nose. With an influx of platypus beaks or purr snouts, varying from tribe to tribe. The big nose was rare, and when they had it, they were blind.
  21. How did this all start? I experimented on a rogue male. Before the hunt, I recreated some legendary nichelings with the console -- or at least, attempted to. They never look quite the same. The rogue got wings, as he was meant to mate with a bird of mine. However... I was curious if he could fly properly now. Fly he did! Right into my water line. The funny thing is, they mate as they land, simutaneuosly. If you have good eyes, you might have spotted the product of this forbidden relation. And so it ended as it all began. My nichelings committed the same crime as the hunted.
  22. 10. The last Hunt. The northern morale is shattered. Our birds are on their own. Mama angry bird delivers the last blow. Have they truly won? Has she attained revenge for her sister, when the rogue male population is as steady as ever? These are the last moments of her life. In the war against darkness, stalemate is victory. Deep down she knows though, that her line and her purpose will never die. Because her husband has a thing for ducks. There ain't any rogues in the sea, man. Yet
  23. 7. Tired of using the Pale Lady as bait, the south decides to join the northern families in hunt of the more daring rogue. This daring rogue has permitted atrocities. Wherever it steps, bearyenas follow. Wherever it goes, it sexually assaults the wildlife. 8. The showdown. The birds have joined the northern hunt. The rogue is cornered! Victory is ours! Or is it? In a last act of defiance... the rogue does nothing. (9)
  24. 5. The distasteful family plots a heinous crime. Rogue #2 enters the picture. 6. Meanwhile... Angry bird junior has his way with two rogues. Not to be outdone, The three families in the south chase the rogues for many, many turns. However, with very little success.... The rogues evade our protagonist again and again!
