Just swim into the ocean! If your nichelings take damage, it's just a glitch, keep swimming and it'll stop! How do you get away from balance bears in the mountains? Don't get toxic body, poison fangs, or scorpion tail, they'll poison your nichelings! Why do some nichelings get cold in the snow but others don't?
