I legit beat her by drowning in honey. (A summon thing summoned her.) Just try and have water mobility so if you do fall in the honey your good. (And water bolts tend to help if you are staying in the original hive.) Just be sure to turn off your bee/wasp/hornet thing before going to the hive. I'd like to get that going at some point Also, for hardmode, should I be worried about the corruption and hallow that spawn after the wall fight? Or the faster spread for those biomes? I think the Dryad should sell anti-biome spread powder. You can also put hallowed around so it doesn't spread to you. (But some of the enemies can be annoying, not sure about harder.)
