A non-bender who guides students in unlocking sub-bending variations.   The Four Academic Cores Students are placed into intensive study tracks based on their primary bending affinity and technical focus: The Jing Core (Foundation): Focuses entirely on timing, waiting for the perfect moment to strike, and defense. The Specialty Core (Sub-Bending): Advanced classes for learning Metalbending, Lightning, Flight, and Bloodbending. The Arts Core (Expression): Blends martial bending with fan dancing, theater, calligraphy, and physical performance art. The Tactical Core (Combat): Teaches heavy-duty combat strategy, pro-bending styles, and multi-element defense tactics. [1]   Daily Academy Schedule   Time Block Activity Description 06:00 - 07:30 Sunrise Meditation Breathwork at the Kyoshi Statue to build inner focus. 07:30 - 08:30 Morning Feast High-energy breakfast in the Dining Pavilion. 08:30 - 11:30 Jing & Forms Training Practicing Neutral Jing stance holding and basic element manipulation. 11:30 - 13:00 Midday Meal & Rest Free time to study or explore the Kyoshi Island coast. 13:00 - 15:30 Sub-Bending Discovery Specialty Core classes to unlock rare bending extensions. 15:30 - 17:30 Combat Sparring Controlled duels in the open-air arena. 17:30 - 19:00 Evening Feast Dinner and social hour for all global students. 19:00 - 21:00 Spiritual & Art Electives Fan training, history, or spiritual energy tracking. 22:00 Curfew Lights out in the student dormitories.   General Sparring Regulations Circle Boundaries: Combat takes place within a 30-foot chalk ring. Stepping both feet outside results in immediate disqualification. Match Duration: Sparring rounds last exactly three minutes, or until a student submits, is knocked out, or is disarmed. Victory Conditions: Win by ring-out, submission (tapping the floor), total immobilization, or referee points decision. Jing Requirement: Every combatant must demonstrate at least one clear use of Neutral Jing (waiting and listening) before launching a finishing strike. [1, 2, 3, 4]   Prohibited Techniques Lethal Elements: Pure lightning strikes, vacuum suffocation, and bloodbending are strictly banned during standard school matches. Blunt Force: Direct physical strikes (punches, kicks) to the face or groin without element buffering are illegal. Environment Damage: Students may only bend materials within the designated arena pods. Ripping down academy pillars or walls results in suspension. Weapon Restrictions: Only blunt training weapons, traditional Kyoshi fans, or wooden gliders are permitted. [1, 2]   The Honor System The Bow: Combatants must execute a traditional martial arts bow to their opponent and the presiding Master before and after the match. Immediate Ceasefire: All bending must stop instantly the moment a referee blows the whistle or calls "Hold!" Medic Oversight: Mistress Kya or a certified medical student must be present at the ringside to treat burns, fractures, or exhaustion.
