  1. The dynamic thruster now has settings for the force change, so this type of thruster can be done.
  2. The new racing update has rotating VTOL Thrusters
  3. @Snowy Owl Unfortunately no error about this inside. Can you grab the logfile as soon as a child becomes a teen, but still has the movement reducing debuff? Without closing or restarting the game. Maybe then we can see it!
  4. @Snowy Owl Can you please upload the logfile as soon as this happens again? I tried to reproduce it, but all my babies grow up and can move around normally.
  5. The colors in the file are in hex. Here is a good website where you can get the codes (https://htmlcolorcodes.com/)
  6. We pushed a hotfix today that fixes two bugs and we also had to reset the racing leaderboards, due to the exploit. Bugfixes Fix that you could get highscores by exploding your drone in races Fixed offset of Angle Part when chaning to high or no friction plating
  7. Dear Drone Engineers, We just released a patch for the racing update on the preview branch! Thanks for reporting all the bugs so far. Please post your feedback in the discussion forum. Patchnotes 0.6.2 New Features Possibility to slow down time in drone vs. drone modes Added round basic parts Added hollow block part Added no friction and high friction plating for basic parts Added two new race tracks (Pisces Speedway and Sagittarius Drag Strip) Reworks New particle effects for afterburner Added radius setting for TnT, allowing smaller explosions Revamped catch mode to make it more challenging The racing test track is now longer Added a new font for better legibility in running text Added compensation for the lost time between logic ticks, this should allow large logic chains without losing a tick each time a signal passes from one part to another. Racing modes now use continuous collision detection for all drone parts New visuals for the sumo arena Bugfixes Fixed physics joints to make symmetrical drones fly straighter Fixed camera behaviour when following mouse cursor Fixed camera behaviour when camera trackers get destroyed Fixed the zooming behaviour in drone vs. drone modes Fixed sticky bullets when shooting large enemies Improved loading of savefiles after a crash. Fixed a bug where the drone selection screen stopped working Fixed that parts got deleted when pressing backspace and rotated with , and . while entering a setting value Fixed bugs in which destroying certain objects unintentionally counted towards the mission goal Fixed that the inverse rotation mode of vtol thrusters did not work Happy testing! Cheers, Stray Fawn Studio Here is how you can get the preview build on steam: – Open your Steam library– Right click on Nimbatus in the Steam library– Select Properties / Beta– Select the Beta tab– Select the Preview branch from the drop down – Restart Steam in case the game does not update automatically Keep in mind that this preview build is still a work in progress, therefore I strongly recommend to back up your savefiles before downloading the preview branch. 8. The fix I did for the thrusters that did not fly straight when not attached to the core, also seemed to fix this bug. I'll update it soon.
  9. I fixed one thing today, which might also be related to this: if you build a simple drone like this and attach the thruster directly to the drone core, it will fly straight. But if you attach the thruster to the button part, it will skew down, even if gravity is not enabled. The issue was that the joints between the parts were not configured accurately. It now flies straight both times
  10. Hmm we store a backup of the save in case it gets corrupted and load it if it can't find the original one. Could be that we have some bugs there. I'll look into it.
  11. Maybe they still dance a bit, but not as intense as before
  12. Dear Drone Engineers, We just released a patch for the racing update on the preview branch! Please post your feedback in the discussion forum. We are interested in getting more feedback about the new modes and racetracks. What do you like about them? What can be improved? Patchnotes Bugfixes Fixed detection when passing the finishing line quickly Fixed missions with collectable items Fixed lagspikes when going over accelerators Fixed catch mode locations on galaxy map that did not award points when won Fixed font size issue in freeze and collect missions Fixed stone manta caves counting towards lava bomber cave mission Fixed freeze objects missions Fixed wrong gravity and air resistance settings in the race test area Fixed lava planet cores not spawning Fixed focussing on camera tracker parts Fixed faulty waypoint behaviour when tracker parts got destroyed Fixed where factories would explode on startup Fixed issue of factories printing parts with wrong rotation Fixed shield offset when panning and zooming the camera Fixed false positive detection of sensors inside the drone workshop Fixed physics glitches with the sticky bullets upgrade Fixed the Around Me option on the leaderboards, it now shows the scores correctly Fixed that the highscore list got messed up when toggling the options too fast Fixed that gravity and air resistance was wrongly set in the PvP modes Fixed the ESC button on the drone import file browser Fixed wrong naming of AI drones in the tournament Reworks New universe seed and star system balancing New race minimap icon for drone Renamed normal races to manual races for clarification Changed the look and feel of the proximity sensor Smoothed camera movement Limited maximum zoom of the camera, it will now focus your drone instead of zooming too far out. Catch Arena now has randomized start position of catch target and new spawn locations Balancing Reduced Afterburner thrust by 25% and lowered needed thrust limit to 115 Sensor and logic parts are no longer allowed for manual races, as it was not inteded to just use your autonomous drones to get the highscore Increased maximum range of proximity sensor from 15 to 30 Increased maximum range of distance sensor from 60 to 100 Factory parts are no longer allowed in races, as they were mainly used to print fuel, which was not intended Due to balancing changes, the leaderboards of the racetracks and the dronepool of the racing and catch mode have been reset. Happy testing! 13. The camera will be reworked, so it follows more smoothly and the tracking bug will be fixed. We'll update the game again next week with all the fixes Allowing 1 factory part in the new PvP modes was an experiment, we'll collect some feedback soon and have a look at the drones in the pool to analyze the meta and see wether a factory part was a good idea or not. One way to balance it out would be to give the factory part more mass, or mass depending on how many parts are "stored". So racing drones are slowed down by factory parts. Or it could cost energy to print, so you need to have enough batteries, which will also slow you down.
  14. I love thunder and lightning. Somehow it always calms me down and I sleep better.
  15. We should add the option to hide the sensor visualization so swarms look better
  16. Yes currently we can only save your own score when you are playing, but not when someone else fights against your drone.
  17. Dear Drone Engineers, We just released the new Racing Update on the preview branch! We need your help to test the game, report bugs and give us feedback about the new gameplay modes, so we can improve them before it goes live! This testing phase will go on for a few weeks depending on your feedback and how many bugs you'll find Please post your feedback in the discussion forum. Keep in mind that this preview build is still a work in progress, therefore I strongly recommend to back up your savefiles before downloading the preview branch. Here is where you can find the savefiles and logfiles: https://strayfawnstudio.com/community/index.php?/topic/651-please-read-this-before-posting/ Patchnotes New Features New Location: Racing Ring with three different racetracks and highscore lists New drone vs. drone tournaments: Race and Catch New training mode for tournaments New tutorial for autonomous racing Added possibility to sort drones alphabetically or by date Added text field to filter drones Added new steam workshop tag for racing drones New Drone Parts: Proximity Sensor (can detect things inside an area defined by radius and angle) Rng Gate (the rng gate has a configurable probability that the output key is activated) Vtol Thruster (vtol thrusters rotate to a target direction automatically) Afterburner (afterburners are strong thrusters that are only usable at high velocity) Position Tracker (position trackers can be used as target for the directional sensor and the vtol thruster) Reworks: Synchronized logic and sensor parts with the physic simulation Reworked the solar systems to contain less sumo rings and added racing locations. Sumo and racing test-areas are now always accessible from the drone workshop Added individually configurable detection layers for the distance sensor and proximity sensor. Added option for sensors to detect harvestable resources The laser of the distance sensor is now better visible on higher zoom levels Made the distance sensor round, so it can be rotated better Added dynamic mission objectives. For example if only 9 eggs are spawned, the mission will no longer require you to destroy 10, Removed velocity limitation for droneparts Increased upper limit of the speed sensor to 300 m/s as reaction to the unlimited velocity Keypresses are now allowed in sumo and racing test-areas to help testing the logic Importing your own drones from steam will no longer apply the downloaded flag. Changed the tournament statistics and added the option to not upload your drone Replaced some images with videos in the tutorials to make things clearer Added a confirmation dialogue when deleting a drone Bugfixes: Fixed randomly changing planet sizes on galaxymap Fixed decimal input for drone part settings Fixed scrolling of drone descriptions using mousewheel Fixed too high thruster force while playing with low fps Fixed spawn system to avoid unsolvable missions Improved drone workshop performance when working on larger drones Improved loading times of drones with factory parts Misc: Upgraded our engine to Unity 2018.3 Because this update contains new drone parts that are not yet live, the upload of sumo drones into the tournament is disabled. You can still play sumo tournaments, but the drones wont end up in the existing pool. We had to reconfigure almost every aspect of the game due to the engine upgrade, so please also test some planetary missions and things like the weapon workshop and report if anything is not working. Happy testing! Cheers, Stray Fawn Studio Here is how you can get the preview build on steam: – Open your Steam library– Right click on Nimbatus in the Steam library– Select Properties / Beta– Select the Beta tab– Select the Preview branch from the drop down – Restart Steam in case the game does not update automatically
  18. I have no idea how this happened But you can change the icon back if you rightclick on it and then open the properties. On the second tab (web document) there is a button where you can choose another icon.
  19. 1.) Have one "main drone" with a position tracker and slap some vtol thrusters on the other drones 2.) Maybe have a fast drone with a tracker that you control yourself to guide the swarm (unless you want it to be fully autonomous)
  20. You cannot set it to 0 degree (The way I implemented them does not make sense for such small angles), for that reason you can use a distance sensor with a higher range. I'm open to feedback about the range when we release the preview version next week. I just set it to something I found reasonable.
  21. Yes the sensors point towards the nearest active tracker or the drone core if none is available. I also made the distance and proximity sensor round now, so we can rotate them better
  22. @Lurkily Psst, don't tell markus
  23. Looks like some sorting / clipping issues. @llamadragon07 Does this error only happen in this one savefile? If not, I'd strongly recommend to update the graphic card drivers. If just one save has this bug, please attach it here so I can check it out
  24. I reworked how the distance and proximity sensors are configured Now also includes detection modes for resources and more specific things.
  25. Here is another new thruster I'm working on: The afterburner, it's about 7 times stronger than a normal thruster, but can only be activated at a high velocity. This was on a high air-resistance planet. Therefore I used jump thrusters to catapult the drone to a high velocity and activate the afterburners.
