  1. I suspect that this bug is caused by custom ages (where you can change how long a creatures is a teen, adult etc). My computer won't let me test this right now. In your save file, have you changed the ages in sandbox mode? The only time I can remember nicheling mating symbols disappearing like that is when they are babies, children or teens.
  2. This nicheling is one of the three Major Goddesses/Gods in my pantheon.
  3. New Genes: 1) I thought it would be fun to make a gene that can 'pounce' the way winged creatures can swoop down on prey. This would be a hindleg gene. Stats: +1 Speed +1 Swimming +1 Pouncing/Ambushing Console: HindlegPounce In game name: ? Gene: Hindleg Pouncing/Ambushing You can pounce on small prey (bunnils, fish, crabbits) within the distance of your speed, dealing as much damage as you have attack You can even try to pounce on birds of prey if they are close to you. You can 'ambush' predators, wanderers, rouge males etc using just one action (for running towards and attacking combined). They have to be within 2 tiles of your creature. This might do more damage/only work if the (insert wanderer, rouge male, bear, ape etc here) can't sense your creature. You can try to jump onto tree branches but you won't always succeed This could be related to how much speed the creature has. As in, a creature with pouncing and 5 speed has a better chance than a creature with pouncing and 3 speed. (That way, lean body would be better at jumping onto branches than big body) 2) This gene is to mimic the way various animals make themselves look bigger when near predators. This would be a body gene, mostly sleek but with raised fur along the back. Stats: +1 Distasteful appearance +2 Scentless +1 Stealth +0 Heat Resistance +0 Cold Resistance +1 Strength +1 Speed Console: ? In game name: ? Gene: Body Both of these genes are based on cats. The body gene adds scentless because of the constant grooming cats do (in real life, this helps them remain odorless and avoid predators). 3) This is a paw gene that would give an ability to scare/dig bunnils and moles out of hiding (only work once every 5-10 days). The creature would go to a burrow/den and use this ability. Then a mole or bunnil would come out. Stats: +3 strength +1 ability to scare rabbils and moles out of hiding Console: ? In game name: ? Gene: Paw 4) Head gene: +3 smelling +1 strength + venomous *disables horns* Console: ? In game name: ? Gene: Head Changes to current genes: 1) New ability for bearyena hindlegs Stats: +1 Speed +1 Strength +1 Swimming +Climbing (used to climb trees) Please let me know if you want to improve or change anything
  4. I've had this bug twice actually, here is the other save file (I think): Slot0.nichesave
  5. Here are the other posts reporting the same bug:
  6. I've had this bug. There are at least two other posts that this has been reported:
  7. Maybe instead of lowering speed, swimming and flying it could take away an action (like when nichelings are too hot/cold).
  8. And now I've had this bug twice. Here is the savefile:Slot0.nichesave
  9. The idea for this came from finding an easier way of adding animations. There are two main ideas that I will explain: 1: Start-of-the-day-positions How it would work: At the end of the night/when the screen is completely dark nichelings would 'pose' When a predator is next to them they might prepare to fight When they are in a nest they might curl up or look asleep When they are in a river they might be frozen in a swimming position When they can gather and are near a berry bush they might hold a berry in their paw Standing on top or beside a pile of meat they would hold some meat in their paw As soon as they move - but not as soon as they take an action - their pose would go back to the current look Optionally: after a few minutes and while the camera is not looking at them their pose would change - like that one game 2: Condition related look How it would work: A nicheling's appearence would change If they are starving they would look thin If they are an alpha, beta or omega they might look somewhat different If they are elderly If they are wounded If they are too hot they would look dehydrated If they are too cold they might have snow in their fur or something Note that none of these would be animations, they would be 'poses' or slight appearance changes
  10. Well, I was thinking it might be nice to decorate the land. So what if you could add 'cosmetics' to the world? How it would work: There would be some sort of mode you could enter that would allow you to add decoration to any tile There would be a number of options to choose from and each would be unique to the type of tile they were added to: Empty: paths (have the ground look worn), footsteps, small bones, small rocks, twigs etc Trees: Not sure. Nests: Shells, moss, ferns etc Burial grounds (like where a nicheling's bones are): Some sort of memorial to them Most of these 'cosmetics' would be 2d or placed around the tile as to not clip with anything. The ones that are 3d nichelings would not be able to stand on.
  11. It might make more sense to be able to mark things like tree stumps, nests, boulders, trees, berry bushes etc rather than empty tiles. It could be something where the mark is as strong as the strength of the nicheling. That way a tribe with 10+ strength would send a very clear message to all intruders but a mark from a tribe with up to 2 or 3 strength would be ignored. The marks themselves would have a certain radius around the object marked - perhaps to due with how much they have been marked - up to around 3 or so. Bunnies might avoid a bush marked with a strength of 3 A nicheling whose strength is equal to or more than the strength of the mark would trespass - with a slight bonus if they have toxic body or venomous fangs. A bearena might take the hint with a strength of 6 or more A killer bearena would be higher; 9 or so An ape or balance bear might need around a strength of 12 before they got the message
  12. Bear with me here as I'm not sure this is possible. Anyway, I was wondering if it would be possible to create some sort of nicheling 'painter'. How it would work: You could create a pattern for the nichelings. Then, download into the game. It would appear as a pattern type If you don't 'paint' a certain gene - like if you skip a head gene - then the gene would appear as the base colour You could have it change colour with different pattern colours and otherwise change with pattern shape, density and size Again, this may or may not be possible. It would be difficult, but it would add a lot to the game to have new looks for the nichelings. Note that we'd also need a way to share patterns. Probally would just be a file or something.
  13. Raptors are 'predatory birds' or birds of prey.
  14. I'm not sure about the dying part. After all, a lot of mammals have 3 or more children in a single litter often without dying. For example: cats, dogs, foxes and basically all rodents. But, I like the idea of triplets. So if the parents had 6 and 6 fertility, there would be about a 10% chance for three children. If they had 5 and 6 there would be a 5% chance. If they had 5 and 5 or 6 and 4 there would be a 1% chance.
  15. It should only spawn on the killer-jungle island and only after (and as soon as) a tribe has lived there for 1000 days.
  16. Would it be a percent based thing? Like every time you try you gain a 0.25% in that skill. Then when you try again you have a +0.25% chance to succeed?
  17. I'm not sure about the fire one. But climbing would be useful. Glowing would be hard to code I think, but maybe a creature could glow as an action.
  18. I missed 'insects'. While they could be classified as meat, they probably should get their own section.
  19. In one of my games, none of my nichelings can breed anymore. Here is the save file, it's only in this one: Slot4.nichesave Other posts that this has been reported:
  20. The idea for this, is that you could 'ban' certain actions. In the same way you can ban creatures. This would be through sandbox settings. You could ban; attack, gathering, inviting creatures in, taming bearena, clearing grass, breaking ice blocks, digging, destroying berry bushes/boulders and so on.
  21. More water based predators would be great. And the savanna really needs something to fill that gap.
  22. Hmm. This seems interesting. Having it just effect the body seems easier than changing every gene.
