Thinking about how maybe there could be a "death roll" in the last days in the lifespan (this wouldn't be influenced by damage, it'd be something like 20-25 days old so if a nicheling has less than 5 days left because of damage the death roll wouldn't happen unless it's already in its twenties) with the chance heightening each day. So low chance to die "early", medium chance to die in the middle and high change to die late Could be modified in sandbox mode

I just thought of something new - Maybe on the mountains you could have areas where the nichelings would have to climb to get to the next part of the island. Climbing could be a skill - a 1 in climbing would let you climb up 1 block, a 2 would let you climb up 2 blocks, so on and so forth.

NICHE TWO WOULD BE SUCH A COOL IDEA! 1. I know whatever is came up with I will love no matter what, so I don't have much suggestions, but I think multiplayer would definitely be cool, and maybe new genes (from suggestions maybe). 2. Also I think it would be amazing to have (I don't know the word for it, defective?) genes where, for instance, a nicheling born with antlers has a small chance of having stubby antlers instead of normal ones. It would impact the stats too. 3. Like Tako said, some small animations would be cool! 4. And last of all, some new npc animals maybe? So far nichelings can only breed with friendly bearyena, but it would be cool to expand on that. Ok that's it I know it's a lot but these are just some ideas :).

For the past few months my brain has decided it wants to think about a potential Niche 2 🧠 No promises or anything yet, since this is a big decision our studio needs to make with many factors going into it. But still, out of curiosity: If we ever made a new Niche what features / changes would you absolutely want to see in it :D? At this point everything is on the table: Modding, Multiplayer, turn it into a Real Time Strategy Game, go wild!

Big yes to all three of these! Separate groups would be really fun to play with.

1. I would love to see maps that are all underwater, and also to have more underwater genes! 2. I think a new setting in sandbox that would let your nichelings have litters would be cool. For example, if you set the litters setting to minimum 1 and maximum 4, a random number generator would pick a number between 1 and 4. 3. The ability to split your nichelings into 2 groups would be awesome! Instead of having them all as one group that shares the same food and nesting material, you could have 2 groups that need to both earn their own food.

I've thought that it would be neat if some genes, namely horns/antlers had small cosmetic variation! So there could be several different antler models that are randomly chosen. Maybe there could be a gene that controls the variation, or it could be completely up to RNG. I like the former better since it would allow for easier customization in sandbox mode Oh, and a MASSIVE +1 to modding support! also add small ears please :3

another thing i think would be neat but you might have already thought of is sneaking in some references to your other games! for example, a select port could have a vaguely onbu shaped rock :))

mods are an obvious answer, but i wanted to brainstorm a bit more. i highly doubt they're original ideas but i think they're cool so i'm posting them anyways. also, me being me, i couldn't not include some concept art. first of all, an underwater and mushroom/underground biome. i just think they're cool ok? if not all of the nichelings' actions were used up (or it could just be a random event) there could be a chance of waking up during the night. there would also be new genes to help with surviving (since it would be more dangerous). introducing: cat eyes! some other genes (such as bat or bearyena head) would also give +1 night vision i'd also love to bring back my lizarpion suggestion from a while back, just because i think it's still kind of cool new concept art: and i 100% agree with tako that more animations would be fantastic i also understand that a sequel might not even ever exist but it's fun to just brainstorm around :))

whoa..................................... I am very excited for this brainstorming session, even if it never even exists, it may be fun to see what we come up with!!! Personally I think 1. modded genes would be interesting, the ability to add genetics to the game in order to make it how players want to. 2. multiplayer seems complex, but maybe could be cool? 3. this is a big one I was thinking about. The gradual evolution of genes. The ability to get bigger and smaller over time, to actually go through processes. I would love to be able to see my nichelings interact like actual creatures, have children that aren't just either or but mix genes. I'll have more eventually

EEK :3 ermmm i think more animations would be cool, like nichelings sleeping when all their actions are used up or panting when theyre hot if tje action system is even going to be used in this potential niche 2 mod support would be cool even if it was just simple stuff to make your own genes or islands or somethin like that :3

The main animal I use in animal jam is a Fox My name was originally Foxleaf, but now I’m Loxfeaf. And sometimes my name is shortened to Lox, which could also be Fox So I basically named the Fox ‘Fox’

(Grass mingle) ‘Focus, please.’ Kat sighed. She knew this was going to be a long day the moment she saw Nikaj wake up in a grumpy mood, but she didn’t expect it to be this long. ‘I am focusing.’ Nikaj growled, lashing her tail. In her paw she held the herb that Kat was trying to teach them about. ‘It’s simple, you tear up the herb and soak it in water, before crushing it into paste with berries and waiting three days, before dipping it into water once more, wrapping it in Jefa leaf, before giving it to the patient. It’s simple, Nikaj.’ Kat liked to think of herself as relatively patient with kids, but Nikaj was much harder to deal with than the little children in her old clan. ‘Simple to you.’ Nikaj rolled her eyes. Ramsi glanced nervously between the two. He was definitely the more calm one. ‘I have something to do. Bye.’ She got up and walked off in huff, leaving the herb on the ground. ‘Are you going to listen to me, at least?’ Kat sighed drily. The Kanir tasked her with teaching the children, but she couldn’t handle even that, apparently. Ramsi glanced at his sister, before taking a small step after her. ‘Sorry. I’ll be back, I promise.’ Ramsi said apolegetically, before trotting after his sister. Those two were inseparable. Ramsi was the calm, quiet, clever one, while Nikaj was loud, boisterous, and always up for a good laugh. She was intelligent in her own way too, but so far Kat hadnt seen a real reason to praise her. She never worked to learn anything, and it seemed she only took lessons from Kat because her parents told her to. Kat sighed again. She knew those two were off to spend time with Mita. Kat didn’t understand it. The rank difference was insane, they shouldn’t even be looking at Mita. It’s not that Kat didn’t like Mita, but rules were rules, and Mita was the rank that she was because her family had done something treasonous. ‘You were just like her you know.’ Enki’s voice snapped Kat out of her thoughts. She scrunched her face up. ‘I was not.’ ‘I remember. Do I need to remind you of the time you told the Kayan himself that he needs to be more respectful, because he told you your herb paste needed more work?’ Enki had one of his rare smiles on his face. ‘That was fully justified though.’ Kats face burned. She turned around to face him. ‘I honestly don’t know what’s bugging her.’ Enki shrugged. ‘You’ll figure it out.’ ‘You are such a huge help, thank you so much.’ Kat snorted, but she couldn’t help but smile at him. Enki had been her friend since day one, and even though they were polar opposites, they understood each other. Maybe that’s what Nikaj needed too. ~ Mita was troubled. She was on her way to the Kani and Kanir to clear away anything they wouldn’t want anymore. Old bedding, rotten food, twigs and branches that were blown in. That sort of thing. But that wasn’t what was troubling her. The twins tailing her were the trouble. Nikaj walked quietly, which was extremely unusual for her. Ramsi was walking beside her, and Mita slowed down to get beside her as well. ‘Are you guys gonna tell me that the islands gonna blow up or something? You both look like Ainijaya.’ Nikaj attempted a joke, but it fell flat. ‘You can talk to me if somethings wrong.’ Mita said calmly. She had admitted it to herself a while back. These two might not be her children, but she would never let anything bad happen to them if she could help it. ‘And me!’ Ramsi piped up. ‘Nothings wrong.’ Nikaj rolled her eyes, but her paws were dragging on the floor. Mita raised an eyebrow silently. ‘Okay, okay fine! I’m just…worried. I’m meant to be learning all this stuff as a royal, but I don’t understand a single thing Kat says, Enki is always saying I’m too reckless, and Hu always talks to me like I’m some little kid who needs everything explained to them! And on top of that, I’ve been feeling watched for the past few days. Like someone’s looking at me. Ramsi feels it too.’ ‘Nikaj…none of this means you’re not good enough. And have you tried telling your parents about being…watched?’ Mita’s voice was soft. ‘She’d just laugh me off, I-’ ‘Laugh off what?’ Ainijaya looked up at her daughter. She hadn’t realised they’d already reached home. Mita immediately glanced down and waited to be dismissed. With a nod of the Kanirs head, Ramsi and Nikaj were on their own. There was no choice but to explain it. The Kani’s eyes narrowed. ‘Go tell the warrior to guard more carefully now. I don’t want anyone to sneak up on us.’ Ainijaya’s eyes flicked around the clearing, before resting on her children. They softened a little. ‘And when you’re done, you can come back here and rest a little, okay?’ ‘Okay mom.’ Ramsi and Nikaj went off to find Enki. ‘Okay, I wasn’t expecting her to believe us.’ ‘Easier for us then.’ Nikaj grinned, back to her usual self now that she had gotten everything off her chest. The two didn’t notice a yellow nicheling watching them from the bushes.
