  3. Hello to all the new and old people here, since the awesome Niche Team made me a mod here as well, I thought I might as well introduce myself. My name is Jojo or Jojo of Faraway (yes that is a Shrek reference). I am currently studying comparative literature, german language and skandinavian studies and want to become an author one day (fantasy or science fiction). As you might have noticed I am a huge Niche Fan, the only game in my steam library that has more hours than Niche is Skyrim and they only differ by 10 hours currently. I am pretty sure it will skyrocket with the wing update though ^^ I love horses, dogs, wolves, really all kind of animals. My favourite book series is Warriors (or Warrior Cats). I am a huge Marvel fan (going to see Infinity War tomorrow). I also love the TV series Lucifer and Castle. That's all I can think of right now

  4. Hi I'll go ahead and start My name is Philomena. I was born and raised in Zurich, Switzerland. I still live there and run a game studio together with @Micha @Markus and @Roger. In my freetime I love to read books and Manga. Every Monday I'm going to a Japanese class with Micha and Markus. I want to read japanese Mangas at some point! I used to have pets, but right now I have none. We travel around a lot and I don't want to leave them alone too much. It's hard to fight down my urge to get a Shiba Inu though >_< In summer I love to go swimming and in winter I'm a huge couch potato. Then, I love to watch series such as Steven Universe, MLP, animes, etc etc. How about you guys?

  5. So, I suggested fluffy ears in the last community voting. It didn't get enough votes though, so I thought I would suggest it again with some art I did. They would be floppy (just because I'd love some more ear variety) and the stats would be: +2 cold resistane -1 heat resistance. +2 hearing (a little less hearing than normal cause of all the fluff!) +1 Smelling (I saw someone suggest this) I would really like to hear what people think. Also, digital art is not my strong point so I apologise for the awful drawing.

  6. So, I came up with the idea of a new plant called Snake Ivy. Basically, it can be found in Jungles and looks like a dark pink snake attached to the ground. When any creature gets next to it or on top of it, and stays that way throughout the night, they take one notch of damage, for three days they're left near the Snake Ivy. Now, after three days, even if no creature has taken damage from it(the three days start when the island is loaded, and resets back to three days if a creature takes damage from it), it curls up for a day. While it's curled up, you can collect it. When collect it can be carried by a nichling. If a nichling is carrying the Snake Ivy, rouge males, rabbils, wanderers, bearyenas, and seeing apes will stay away. After being collected however, a Snake Ivy will wither completely after three more days. Well that's basically my idea. Enjoy!

  7. I also have a 2nd improvement on Derpsnout that I'd like to be considered: I think Derpsnout's ears should aesthetically still be reflective of their ear slot genes. I can see it going 1 of 3 ways: 1) The small ear can still be round and deformed, but the larger ear should be reflective of whatever ear type they should express as the dominant phenotype. OR 2) Both ear SHAPES are reflective of whatever ear type they should express (e.g. both ears are pointy if they have normal or large ears), but one ear is still smaller than the other. I prefer this one. OR 3) The small ear is the one that is accurate in shape to whatever ear type they should express as the dominant phenotype, but the larger one is the current oddly formed larger ear of the Derpsnout. I would have suggested another option, that is, graying out the Derpsnout's ear genes like Spiky Body's tail genes and keeping Derpsnout's current ear structures while adding +3 hearing by default to Derpsnout, but that would negate hearing boons, like if you had +4 hearing from Big Ears.

  8. So, gem colors are great but are kinda limiting with just five colors. This isn't the biggest change or the most important but I think it'd be cool and nice to have. This idea is also incorporated with another idea here: So to do it, the home screen would look like so: And upon opening it you get a screen like so: and to explain it:

  9. I noticed while playing one of the "destroy snake eggs" missions that there isn't really much of a challenge. It is fairly easy to avoid the giant snake. I think it would be more interesting and difficult if the giant snake got more aggressive and targeted the player more the more snake eggs you destroyed.

  10. Make the plasma weapons/parts do more damage and set enemies on fire, but have the ability to overheat and explode, but have the opportunity for the cryo weapons/parts to freeze enemies, but also cool themselves. Add heat makers/generators to help heat up your drone, heat sinks/heat coolers to remove heat, heat resistant blocks that are resistant to temperature change, and modifications to shields to help resist heat/cold for the parts covered by it (For my shielding suggestions)

  11. OLD IDEA, LOOK AT EDIT I always feel sad when a Nicheling dissappears from the family tree. Even ones who have family still dissappear at some point... My favorite Nichelings and such, i dont get to remember what they look like that easily when this happens. Im hoping maybe the Devs can make a scroll for the family tree? I know most people would like to be able to look through many of their generations. With a scroll, you would be able to look at your oldest Nichelings and recent Nichelings. I know one or two problems may occur, as such as a very, VERY long game's generations. {I think it would be fine if the oldest Nichelings would be.. "erased" in that situation) Edit: Thanks to everybody who voted this up. I now realize how much lag would be made. So, i think the best way to save files is that every 3 generations or so, the family tree would be saved to the menu to be seen. The tabs would say "generations 1-3". You would find this in the menu game/tribe tab, once you click on the game's/tribe's tab. To still prevent lag, the devs could add a notification asking to delete an old game's tree, such as 9 generations ago. Note: whenever i say "game", i mean not Niche, but the game you are saving the tree in

  12. To start off - what is the button to take GIFs again? I forgot. Also I love a bunch of what has been done! Exciting stuff. General Feedback: Unlock system is fun! Being able to drag around the weapon tree is fun too. Love the animations! First level seems a bit hard for starting out - but I understand wanting to teach good ship-making mechanics through trial and error. Glitches (maybe?) The drones that surround the Transmitters occasionally shoot through terrain. After depleting an energy source, if you make one of those terrain-generating-fungi explode (where they "grow" more ground) it re-fills the drained resources. Is that on purpose? Excited to play more, but wanted to jot down what little feedback I have... mainly to ask how to take GIFs again. >_>;

  13. First is of Laralee, she was from a savannah tribe and sacrificed most of her life chopping down cacti so her tribe wouldn't starve. Second is of Meana, a creature I freed from the ice. She saved the tribe from a balance bear with the help of her children, unfortunately the tribe died off after a few generations to sickness due to lack of immunity genes. Third is Kirkuduk and his mate Lako. Kirkuduk led an attack against a balance bear even though he's not that strong. I allowed him to have a few children even though there was a risk of double deformed paw, but somehow, the mutation menu helped all four of the children have double bearyena claws. Fourth is the Meane family. The white porcupine is the mother of all of those ones. They were a jungle family who wasn't too suited to the jungle. I absolutely loved them. Unfortunely at one point twins were born, both were lost to the ape due to the others fleeing.

  14. I admit I completly misread your post at first I think if we got this there should sometimes be an event when the killer bearyenas hits one of your creatures, like a randomizer determines each day if it'll stay friendly. Why? Because I feel like these big and strong creatures might just lash out 'accidentally' one day or maybe you get lucky and they never will. But you'll still be able to breed with it. I also think that it should give slightly different genes as they are stronger and have defense opposed to the normal bearyenas but that might make the following hybrids even more overpowered

  16. Hello everyone! I'm Taiko (as I'm called in many places on the web). I'm a Software Engineer originally from Southern California (US), but I've lived in Washington State (US) for over 10 years and love it here. My favorite game currently is "Factorio". When I heard about Nimbatus originally in November I was immediately taken by the range of challenges and building and look forward to helping test the game. (btw I'm a Close Alpha Tester)

  17. Worms... I remember when the first one got released! Now i feel a bit old... As i dont know how to solve it either i can just hope there is a "simple" solution to it. Maybe the drone can "damage" the landscape with its mass / inertia? So when the drone hits landscape head on there should be not much difference to how it is now, depending on inertia of the drone there could be a little dent, but a tiny pixel will just be "killed" from the impact of the drone.

  18. I did think that using a mechanical arm seemed a bit difficult. A magnet makes much more sense. I just used some blocks in a claw shape attached to 2 motorized hinges. Here is a GIF of it:

  19. That's a wonderful idea! I want to have more play modes and that way it would be much easier Also I would really love to see a "blind genes" mode (that you can activate and desactivate) where you can never see the genes of your nichelings (to make the game more interesting) but you're able to actually see the family tree and change the nichelings' names.

  20. I do, but maybe make a practice round where you can test your drone against different set drones or the player drones, to refine your suo drone. It would not be worth points, but you could use it to prepare your drone for the tournament

  21. About the lag for longer games, someone suggested that they'd be stored in boxes instead of scrolling so a box for generation 1 and or 2 and then another box for generation 3. That way only one or two boxed will be open (or scroll through) and the other ones wouldn't be loaded. In addition to that we could have the option to export the file to see it whole?

  22. I think this is a super cute idea so I tried to edit what they might look like onto a nicheling model, thoughts?

  23. I was wondering if facial hair on nichelings is still planned to be implemented. It did say that if the "Bearded Beaver" got enough backers, it would be in the game. However, I'm not sure if it managed to reach its goal. Does anyone know if it has been confirmed for the game? Thank you for your time Here's the link to what I'm referring to, btw: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/80250451/niche-a-genetics-survival-game/posts/1589166
