  1. I feel like starting a new file and sharing my progress with you guys. In this run, I will attempt to form Nichetopia. What's that? It's basically a Niche metropolis. A thriving society where food is plentiful, and it is populated with perfect beautiful nichelings. For this run I will need: 1) Over 2500 food 2) Over 150 nichelings 3) More than 70% of the nichelings are "pureblood" that means homozygous body genes (head, hand, tail, etc) 3a) Bonus points if they all have the same cosmetic traits as well (fur pattern, fur color, eye color, etc) I got close to these numbers before, but I just want to see if I can push my limit. How many nichelings can I really support without everyone going hungry and such. I'll try my best!

  2. Our first baby is born. In a utopian society, everything must work efficiently. I mean, how else are we going to get so much food and such? So that also means an efficient naming system. Identification serial number: M-MB-X2-G2-NP-BH-R2-R2-MX-6-AS

  5. It's sometimes annoying when I try to find my friendly bearyena, but it just keeps running away. It would be good if nichelings with bearyena snout could call for friendly bearyenas. It would also be an useful way to call help if nicheling is attacked by a bearyena or some other predator.

  6. This suggestion will be in a series of suggestions called "Random Suggestions". Well, as long as I remember to do them. So, since I am an original human being, I'm going to make a suggestion about a new animal: the Fodger! "But wait," you say, slightly recoiling away from my suggestion. "What exactly is a Fodger?" Well, a Fodger is very simple: it's a combination between a Red fox and an American Badger. (If you want, devs, you could also make it a European Badger. Also, do you capitalize animal names? I dunno.) I'd imagine it would have the speed of a fox and the strength of a badger. And some cold resistance. Where They Appear: Long Winter Frost Lands Summer Mountains First Snow Grass Adventure (Maybe?) Stats: +2 speed +3 attack strength +2 resistance to cold +1 vision (badgers have bad vision) After some research, I learned foxes and badgers have outstanding night vision and smelling and hearing. +4 smelling +3 hearing Other Facts: When killed, they drop 10 food points. They live for 20 days with no damage. They will actively hunt rabbils and steal berries. They'll also steal healing plants. Like Walrus deer, Fodgers are neutral until provoked. Anything else I need to add?

  7. As they are small enough to be prey to bluebirds... you'd have a chicken sized bird, stronger than a bear. Just how does that work? Further, flighted animals have little defense. If they're OP in the strenght department, this part here really pushes what is believeable to me. A balance bear might not be the strongest, but since they ambush nurseries in deep winter, they certainly are trouble. They're balanced that way with their lifespan. Your RRP would kill the average nicheling in three hits. Three hits. Give your early to mid game basic hunter a strenght of 6. Thats 7 attacks (Edit: lifespan is 40, not 45) And you have two dead and one badly hurt nicheling.

  8. either !!! i'm happy to draw nichelings of any sort. and thank you so much !!! i'll be updating the story again on and off today so keep your eyes peeled ❤️

  9. You mean from your story? Or our own nichelings? Mildrain was my faw from this story too. You're good at drawning nichelings!

  10. Finally made it to the northern part of the island. With big-bodied nichelings that took forever. They are so slow! I wish this game was better at differentiating which tiles go to the island and which ones stay. Is that raised tile part of the port? Omg it would just be so much easier if they made them very clearly a different color. Well, I'm too lazy to wait another turn to get all the green tiles filled with nichelings so let's go. That's it for tonight. I'll continue more tomorrow.

  11. Whenever I get really bored, I just stop playing, sometimes for weeks or months, it can take up to half a year or even more (though usually not with Niche but I had and still have it with other games I play occasionally) until I really get the urge to play the game again. I don't think there is a better fix if challenges don't do it for you Maybe the next update will help out

  12. A dystopia? Me? Pffff... No way. Bwahaha... Every nicheling has a place is Nichetopia! Just look at F-MB-W2-G2-V2-BH-N2-R2-SX-4-G2 here. She was born sickly, and so has been separated from the rest of the tribe. But even omegas are still useful contributing to our wonderful society by gathering food. She looks so happy picking poison berries and cracking coconuts! Ignore that she is pregnant with a rogue male and I probably will never let her give birth.

  13. It's been a few generations since, and our population looks like this now. Little F-MB-XW-G2-NV-H2-N2-R2-M2-6-KA is my first niche born with heat body, and she got me the achievement "King of the Mountain" My screen always glitches out in the corner like this when I get an achievement in this game. Oh well

Can't post every child being born. Welcome our first child of foreign blood. Identification serial number: M-B2-W2-G2-NP-MB-R2-R2-MP-4-GK

  26. Yeah, the hounds are toughies. My friend purposely spawned them in because some rabbit was a sacrifice: Also I'm a Willow main (Top to bottom: My friend Coduk spawned in all the hounds. We don't really talk anymore. The middle gal was my old username (THE DOG and Friends), and Kira is another friend I don't talk to anymore.)

  29. Geez, a bird that is stronger than a balance bear or killer bearyena? While having insane speed? Even the female is as strong as a normal one. Maybe nerve the attack to 2 and lifespan to 30?

  30. I like what you made here. Something that might make it better is if there were a nest it would go back to every couple of nights. If you could get rid of the nest than they would leave the island altogether or in the den, there would also be little children. If this happens and you killed them, then the parent might come after you or leave entirely. Or if you killed someone and no one can collect it before night, the Skunkadillo will sneak by and take the food. Same with the berries bushes if no one is near them. But I like what you made here.

  31. Nichelings should, now that they have wings, be able to have Feathers and now that they have scorpion tails, other arthropod appendages should be able to get in Let me start with this Avian Genes Feathered Body +1 flying with wings +2 cold resistance +2 heat resistance -2 stealth Feather crest(in horn slot) +1 attractiveness +distasteful appearance Clawed wings +1 digging +3 flight if genes are identical Feathered tail(like archeopteryx) +1 flight with wings (maybe the easy movement idea with 25% dodge chance) Bird talons +2 seize(additional damage when swooping) +1 speed + 2 fishing +pickup(can pick up creatures the size of crabbits and smaller and drop them later) (there is another talon suggestion, look in the comments) (just paying attention to the one there) Arthropod genes Pincer paw +1 attack +1 defense(per pair) +1 cracking chitinous legs(like a crab, hind legs) +1 defense +1 speed +1 swimming Ant queen gaster(tail, only active in females) +4 fertility -2 movement -1 flight -2 swimming +effective nest building(nests cost 5 material for that creature, can also nest for free in torn earth and stagmole burrows) others Cool body -2 cold resistance +4 heat resistance +2 cooling effect(to counteract warmed up) Dextrous feet +1 collecting +1 speed +1 swimming unlock conditions: spend time in jungle(10 days) Hood(like a cobra, with no fangs though, horn slot) + distasteful appearance + hypnosis(hypnotizes small creatures like fish and bunnils to not run away and leechs and insect swarms to stay away, makes larger creatures attacks do 2 less damage) unlock conditions: spend time in savannah(25 days)

  32. You could set yourself a tribe size limit, that you could change during game (if you watch Niche: Whims of fate, you know why this is needed). When your tribe is full, you can't invite wanderers. You can have your nichelings mate, but no babies will be born before there's room in the tribe. If you have multiple females on nest, but not enough room in the tribe for all of the babies, the females with he highest rank will give birth first. If you have too many females of the highest rank, the oldest ones give birth first. You can't set the tribe limit smaller than your tribe is. You'll need to get rid of your extra creatures before making the limit smaller.

  33. Hey pack More and more people are using the console. That's cool because if gives you more stuff to play around with. But we're also receiving sooo many emails with bug reports and in the end, it pretty much always turns out that the problem was console related ^^' So we're now considering to run a console fixing session What bugs would you want fixed?

  34. Hey crew, We just released the update 0.5.9 for Nimbatus. We have read through alot of feedback since the release and addressed some of the problems with this patch. Thank you very much for reporting bugs and posting feedback! New Features: Added 2 new jungle missions (you will have the choice to reset the map or continue with the previous one) Added a popup to draw attention to our tutorial (can be skipped) Added zoom using the mousewheel to the test area and the planets Added new Delay gate Added speed setting for motorized hinges Added full and empty events to resource tanks Added a setting for the start state of the factory part (Printed / Not Printed) Reworks: If the loading of a savegame does not work, we now show the error on screen instead of automatically resetting the progress. If you encounter any errors, please post us a screenshot, restart the game and try again. Changed the galaxy map, so you will encounter lava planets earlier. Bugfixes: Fixed that Camera Trackers still were displayed on the minimap after being destroyed Fixed that Sumo drones were not correctly added to the opponent pool anymore Fixed that Batteries or Fuel Tanks still provided energy after being decoupled. Fixed that Resource tanks could not be filled-up after being printed by a factory part. Fixed Issue where Impulse Givers were always on after destroyed Fixed false positives on distance sensor while detecting own drone parts Fixed that decoupled parts get destroyed if the previous parent of the decoupler was destroyed Balancing: Increased the difficulty of Sumo Tournament opponents by increasing the number of required wins to be added. Lowered the difficulty of the Bio Barrell mission by improving the spawn rate and decreasing the amount of deadly cannons. The new start state setting of the factory part was the most upvoted suggestion in our forum, this is why we have added it to the game! Please keep upvoting ideas for new droneparts and features! The difficulty of the planetary missions was not really well balanced, it was too hard for beginners and too easy for advanced players. The starting galaxy should now be a bit easier. We will improve this in the future to make it more challenging and fun to play We will now start working on our first big update which will be all about Drone Racing. More information will follow soon! Cheers, Stray Fawn Studio

  35. I have a need for the option to have switches and on/off switches start ON. I'm dealing with synchronization issues that can't easily be solved by adding more logic gates.

  36. Imagine a creature so big, so uncontainable and uncontrollable that it grew so large as to leave the planet it once was on in order to find more food/resources to sustain its hunger, floating through space from planet to planet devouring everything that bumped into it. I think a planet designed to be one whole creature would look very interesting and would have some really cool elements to it, some dangers/problems you'd have to overcome could be: 1. Giant arms/tentacles on the surface of the planet that try to grab you when you get close. 2. Impenetrable skin which couldn't be destroyed/mined through. 3. A huge gaping mouth at one part of the planet which you'd need to go into In order to explore the inside if the beast. 4. Giant evolved bacteria inside the planet which are basicaly working to digest food for the planet and try to destroy you. 5. A brain/heart at the center of the planet which would be the only way to kill the beast. An idea like this is probably too big a project at the moment for the people working to create nimbatus, but if they ever fully completed the game and had time to add more, or wanted to release DLC, then I think the idea would be more plausible. I'm not sure how the missions would work, maybe there could be a rescue mission, or just a mission to kill the plant from the inside, or even a mission to collect tissue samples, I honestly don't know.

  37. So, we got a family tree and a day-counter, but we don't have a timeline?? Uh, why not? Programming, Goggles-kun... That'd be a ton of money, Goggles-kun... I'm thinking there'd be a button you can click to pull up a timeline of your tribe. If the timeline gets too long, there'd be a separate page for the continued part. Simple enough! "But wait; what exactly would go on the timeline, Goggles-kun?" Shut it Francis. Oh, wait. That's a wonderful idea. Here is a list of what would go on that timeline... The names of your first creatures (They go at the start of the timeline, along with...) The island you first started on When you migrate to a new island (Maybe not the name of the island? And it would say "You migrated to a new island on day [number]") Creatures you added to the line (Maybe there could be an option on the family tree where you can add a creature to a timeline, and it would appear as "[thiscreature] was born on day [number]"?) This is what I'm thinking it would look like: For the "Add to Timeline"... I'm thinking once you click the "Add to Timeline" button, it automatically turns to "Remove From Timeline"? Anyways, that's all, and stay tuned.

  39. I'd never be able to remember that ^^ You probably know that but you can test which tiles are ports by placing a pregnant Nicheling on them, if the Nicheling can build a nest it is not a travel tile

  41. Okay, one more. The clan is settling in on the new island nicely. Littlestar II dies peacefully, and Lightsand a day after. Conejaw is crowned leader. She offers Mildrain a position as deputy, and he declines. Therefore, the two of them search the wild for a fitting deputy, much like Mildrain's mother did all those moons ago. Thank Starclan, Mildrain finds a young apprentice one rainy day. Her name is Cryleg. Seemingly an eternal teenager, Cryleg had a touch of mischief in her eye and a spring in her step. As she grows into an adult, Cryleg is interested in romance- specifically one with Mildrain, much to his confusion. Conestar hears of this from Cryleg, and encourages Mildrain to court with her, since they could expand the clan that way. She says that medicine cats don't necessarily need to not have a family, and gave him permission if he was so inclined to be attracted to her. Reluctantly, he decides that such a union would be good for the clan and he agrees. Before her death, Conestar makes Cryleg deputy, and Cryleg convinces Mildrain to have a kit with her as she is renamed Crystar. Their kit is named Sleekbuck, and becomes a nosy, optimistic overachiever. Upon patrolling the border one day, Crystar finds a young apprentice-sized she-cat- one that reminds her of herself at that age. Being moved by seeing such a young apprentice in such a similar situation, she takes her in and raises her alongside Sleekbuck. She is named Gravelsnout. Gravelsnout and Sleekbuck become like brother and sister: Crystar makes Gravelsnout deputy, and Mildrain dies of old age. Sleekbuck is more upset over not being deputy than the death of his own father, which Crystar points out is a clear sign that he isn't ready to be leader anyways. Sleekbuck cares too much about Gravelsnout to take it out on her, however, and prefers to just sulk a little ways away from his mother. He is approached by Dandelion, an opportunistic rogue female interested in joining a clan. He allows her into the clan, and they seem to be getting close. Could Sleekbuck have found a mate? Find out in... Cedarclan!

  42. A not gate adds a 1 tick delay and that makes the event arrive too late (it must happen before another fires, so I'd have to add an IF gate to delay that by 1 tick too) Besides it should take almost no effort at all to implement this. and there's no reason not to implement it. Low effort feature, saves having to use extra gates, etc.

  44. There has been a bunch of weird genes that also only exist in the console, too. I've gotten ones like "Armadillo Armor" and I think there was one starting with "Triceratops". I mean, I'm not complaining, because Triceratops are my favorite dinosaurs...

  47. What if when you edit your sandbox mode, you could choose to add your own nicheling NPCs? You could choose whether they'd be agressive or not, or possibly some other options of what they do? Such as maybe they only steal a certain type of food. Maybe in the jungle you could make them try to attract the apes? Possibly edit them so all they know how to do is kill. You could choose if they move the same as your nichelings or at night like bearyenas. You'd have to choose all of their genes and choose a name for them. Just, this seems like the closest you could get to making your own NPCs, just to add some more fun as you play.
