I'm making a project on Scratch where you breed a Nicheling-like species called Lalines. Feel free to suggest stuff, I especially need an idea for a way to earn the in-game currency, which will function like the berries in Niche Mobile. https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/408770757

It's looks cute so far. I hope you don't mind but I drew a little picture of my couple.

In real life, noses (at least on cat and dogs) on animals with white fur are never gray, like in Niche. Instead, they are pink. This would (probably, I'm not familiar with Niche's coding and modeling ways) be an easy fix. I just think it'd make nichelings with white fur cuter and prettier Some cats with pink noses:

Hello again everybody, some of you may remember me from the "The Future of the Game" thread. I am interested in text adventure games/interactive stories or better known as choose your own adventure stories, and I am considering creating one for Niche. I have always felt like storytelling is one of its greatest strengths, and I think that that could be expanded upon in a fun, meaningful and interactive way. I am looking at chooseyourstory.com as a possible place to publish such a story, but textadventures.co.uk, or Quest, is also a possibility. I would want to have permission for this first, though. Is this alright with you, @Philo?

Here is the sketch I made! All the shaded stuff is seaweed.

Finished centering all the costumes and moving the sprites back to their places. I also copied all the fur and eye colors that I did on the male to the female. Now I can add new fur and eye colors more easily!

Right now I'm doing the back-breaking work of centering all my sprites so that I can easily import new color costumes from the male to the female sprites using the backpack. That also means I have to move all the sprites back to their places since moving them in the editor means moving them on the result screen... UGGGGHH! But it'll make the other back-breaking work not be back-breaking anymore, and I'll be doing that work a whole lot, so this will all be worth it

Fae's Journey continues! Fae has discovered a rock, but decides to move around it, if she doesn't bother it, it won't bother her...right? (Forgot to take a screenshot ;-;) Fae sees a path of rocks that head to a new island 'oh! Should I stay here..? Or go forward?' She looked around the small, lonely island. 'I'm sorry friend, but you're not home' She dipped her head to the island and hoped from rock to rock to the next place..will this one be home? She looked around the new island, it was big, much bigger that the last. Fae headed near a huge red tree, wondering if it would give her food. She finds a crabbit near the tree and tries to attack it, it turned around and stared at her...making her very uncomfortable. She decided to eat some worms to try and distract her from the strange creature. Meanwhile a leech creeps closer in the waters... She looks at the leech through the clear water, and eats it. It tastes slimy. Fae does not like it. 'Is this what all fish taste like? Gross' Fae moves onwards, severely disturbed as the crabbit watches her. She finds some berries, still not as good as meat. Fae finds a tall..creature. She tries talking to it, but she gets no response. "Are you lonely too? Want to be friends?!" She huffs, 'Rude much?' Fae sleeps in a nest for the night, she is quite uncomfortable with rock, tall creature, and swamp tree surrounding her. She finds a mole, overjoyed at the sight of fresh meat. Luckily she kills it without it seeing her. Fae thinks it's delicious. Fae's first time swimming! She likes the refreshing feel of water. She discovers new berries! She's heard about these before though, they're toxin and Fae doesn't want to die just yet. There's also a bird overhead...not a good sign. And this is where I'm going to leave it for right now, let me know if you're enjoying the story so far ^^

These are too small to have their own topics little flowers blooming here and there. a tile with one flower on it could grow more flowers of the same type on the same tile, even the surrounding ones. maybe if a tile became full with (edible) flowers, a nicheling could pick all the flowers for a little food (2-4?)! If a grazing ability was added, grazers could eat flowers without the tile having to be full (1 food per 2 flowers?). little pebbles scattered about. when you break a rock the tile has a bunch of pebbles on it varying heights of grass areas (like 5-10 tiles) that are completely regrowing grass bush variants—same species, but different shapes and sizes, maybe even different berry counts (one might have a berry less than normal, another might have a berry more). This would just be nice to vary things up some On that topic, different tree shapes, too and rock shapes!

I tried getting the speech thingy the people say at a wedding but instead I got some many sketchy "get your ordination license online today!" websites that I decided to go from memory. Also I be lying if I said I wasn't considering it.

i've been feeling pretty terrible lately, and just, havent felt to updating this :') i still need to work out a few kinks in the story, anyway, so its probably best that i wait on the other hand: what would yall think about a mini-playthrough that follows Rain on the island she ended up at? it would feel refreshing to me, and i honestly have a few ideas for it if it does happen (and really-who doesnt want to see Clover in-game and not just in the sandbox creator? thats right. nobody)

please suggest better names for these, I wanted to call Live Birther 'Mamillian' but pretty much every other species lays eggs so there wouldn't be a good matching name for Egg Layer These genes would need an additional slot just for them.Live Birther is more common than Egg Layer. Neither gene appears in the mutation menu. Live Birther: The Nicheling gives birth the same way it does now. Dominant to Egg Layer. Egg Layer: When a female is mated with, she will be 'pregnant'. The female, regardless of pregnancy duration (more about that later) can go to a nest and lay her eggs at any time, including the day she is impregnated. When the pregnant-with-eggs female stays on a nest overnight, she will lay an egg (or two, if it's twins). The egg will hatch the next day in Story mode, and equal to the Pregnancy Duration in Sandbox mode (ex. Pregnancy Duration is 3 days, egg hatches after 3 days). The egg will stay in the nest until it hatches overnight, making the noise of a baby when they are normally born, and will appear as though they were live birthed; for special effects, you could do a hatching noise then the baby cry, along with some egg shells strewn about in the nest that disappear after a day. After hatching, the baby will act exactly like a live-birthed baby would. This gene is recessive to Live Birther. Ideas for what the egg could look like: -just white -randomly white or brown -baby's horn color -similar to baby's fur and pattern (and colors) this suggestion is like an alternate version of this suggestion, so please vote for it if you'd rather it be a Sandbox setting than a gene:

Based off of ants, I figure I can bring this head back into the active suggestions now that we have antennae Last year an insect head was deemed far-fetched, but I figure it's a little less so at this point. ❤️ This was, after all, my personal favorite among all my suggestions from last year Consider this head a jack of all trades- except smelling. It can't smell worth a lick. But dangit, it's cute, so I'd be willing to overlook that. It gives +1 strength, +1 gathering, +1 cracking, and +1 digging. The eye would also be a solid color with no iris/pupil, and would bulge out a little from the head. "But Mystic, what do we have to do to gain this new gene?!" Easy- STARVE your nichelings. What? You have to take physical damage to gain Spikey Body, so having to starve in order to gain Clever Jaw isn't that much of a stretch.

So I have finished my Masters program and am now returning to the wonderful world of Niche. I opened Steam to discover I have spent over 500 hours playing Niche, which is incredible to me! I definitely thought I was around the 200 mark. Anyway, what's everyone up to? Any fun new challenges for a returning oldie?

Welcome to the forums @Ribboness Please make sure you have an internet connection and try to reboot Steam. It seems Steam does sometimes not register when achievements are reached (and sometimes awards it after some time).

Right now there is, of course, no breeding, so I put in the temporary feature of clicking a body part to randomize Clicking the fluff randomizes only the fluff, clicking the right eye randomizes only the right eye, clicking the left eye randomizes the left eye and coordinates the tail tuft, and clicking any other body part randomizes everything else

well, anyways, I really want to see this and because of you I may make a language on my own for some roleplays just to confuse ppl.

'Then, by the power invested in me, and by the state of Blue Bird Bay, I now pronounce you both.... mates. You may kiss... or something.' And that is that. Glacier and Rosie are married now. After a few coconuts and a small after party, the newly weds go to retire for the night, leaving Floo to be alone.

'Come friends! We are gather here today to celebrate the union of two very important nichelings, Rosie and Glacier.' Floo starts loudly. He wants the whole island to hear this for it is very a very important day for all of them. 'Now Glacier,' He turns to Glacier, 'do you take Rosie to be your mate, through sickness and heath?' 'I do,' he replies. He turns to Rosie and repeats. 'I do,' she says.

And then, it begins. Glacier, covered decoratively in seaweed, steps out from the bay and onto the damp, rainy shore. He takes a deep breath and starts walking towards the tree where his best friend and mate-to be await. As he approaches, he can see Rosie smiling, quite amazed by his efforts. Glacier comes to a stop at Rosie's right. They glance shyly at each other, each blushing redly. Rosie notices the blood sucker attached to Glacier and picks it off affectionately.

And finally, the day has arrived. Glacier sits at the bottom of the bay, awaiting nervously with his best man. 'What if she doesn't like the seaweed, and would rather me wear something more land-breather like?' He turns to the crab. 'Do you think she'll like it?' He stares deep into the crabs orange eyes. They remind him of his childhood, in the waters of the cold, mountainous island where the crabs roamed around on the bottom of the ocean. Thinking back to his home island calms him. 'Okay, I think I'm alright now. Thanks little guy.' The crab keeps staring back. He remains quiet, but his eyes say your welcome. Glacier's so busy thinking about the wedding that he fails to notice the blood sucker.

Floo and Rosie decide to have it under the tree that shades part of the bay shore. It's always been a very polite tree.

After having discussed with Floo, the pair start getting ready for the ceremony. Glacier finds some nice seaweed to decorate himself in. Since Floo is ordained and will do the preaching part, the crab offers to be Glaciers best man. How thoughtful.

just for future reference, the 8 nichelings that are gonna appear in the new playthrough that were taken from the 'Breeding Clover' one, are: Abandon Serenity Aymi Clover Pidge Tuyo Feather and Peril i cant exactly recreate all the tribe members in sandbox, and i dont even have the save they came from anymore, so-

That's a good idea! I think I might add that! I haven't thought of the exact food cap. I'm thinking for now that it will fit as much food as you can start with in sandbox On tiles that have the same or almost the same ground level, you can place a food pile. I haven't decided how many tiles it will fill. Yes! You can destroy it, but only if you have at least one strength/attack/whatever u wanna call it. Again, you can destroy it and get rid of all the food you have stored in it. I'm thinking no, but maybe! If you collect food, it would go to the hand-held counter and there would be an option on the food pile to put hand-held food into the pile. That's a waaaaaaaay better idea! Again, great idea! You're great at coming up with this kind of stuff! I think it would just be auto-stored into hand-held storage, even if it's a really high number, then it could be auto-deposited when you put down food storage. You are not able to collect food when you are in this state.
