  1. After burying Lilur's remains, Adave and Dikeh leave, continuing to explore the island. They walk close to each other, almost touching, finding comfort in the warmth of the other. The rain falling down on them reminds them of their mother, Kura, who had believed that rain preceeded or accompanied important events. Perhaps this is one of those moments, as they both walk off into their future.

  2. The next few days are bittersweet for Adave and Dikeh. While they grieve for their mother they can clearly see their father aging as well, knowing that soon they will have to bid him farewell forever. Still, the time they can all spend together is filled more with happiness and delight than with sadness.

  3. Kura passes away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family. Lilur, Adave and Dikeh spend the day grieving for her. But having been able to spend the her last day together has helped them prepare to say goodbye.

  4. They days go by fast, filled with exploring and a sense of love and belonging. Kura is happy, having seen both her children grow up to be kind, loving nichelings. Lately, her fur has been turning gray and her bones become more brittle - the feeling of strength she once had in her youth seemingly disappearing a little more each day. Looking at Lilur she can see that he has aged too, but he is a little younger than her and age hasn't taken such a toll on him as it has on her. While she looks at her tribe - Dikeh dozing in the sun, just as calm and collected as she remember her father to be, Lilur stopping his task of picking berries to come over to her and quickly nuzzle her and Adave suddenly leaping high in the air and landing on top of her brother, squealing with joy as she scatters berry sap all over him - she is filled with a strong sense of belonging.

  5. While exploring their new surroundings Dikeh makes a surprising find - a strangely coloured berry bush! After calling for his mother to observe his findings, Kura tells him that this bush carries berries that can only be eaten by certain nichelings, such as them. She goes on to explain that this knowledge was passed down to her from her mother. Dikeh is curious about his grandparents and while they pick the berries together she tells him more about Adam and Eve. Adave and Lilur join them soon after she has started her tale, both carrying berries as well. The tribe spends a relaxed evening telling stories about their ancestors.

  6. The short voyage to their new home hasn't taken long and the family arrives a little exhausted but healthy. Due to how tiring the day has been, they quickly clear out a little space and then huddle together to sleep. During the night Adave grows her third and final gem, starting her new life on the island as an adult.

  7. As Dikeh gains his third gem, it is time for the family to decide on what the future holds for them. Kura is very hesitant to propose her wish - that they move again. She feel reminded of her childhood and fear tearing her family apart for a second time. As she hesitates, Lilur, with gleaming eyes, asks her what she thinks about traveling again. Overwhelmed by a surge of happiness and relief, Kura can only press her head against his for a few seconds, before she answers. And so it comes that when Dikeh gains his second gem, the tribe prepares to travel once more.

  10. It had been one of Kura's wishes for her children to explore more of the island and so traveling on is almost therapeutic for the rest of the tribe. Lilur is doing his best to help his kids grieve in a healthy way. As a calming yet quietly joyful presence he teaches both Adave and Dikeh to value their own lifes while he tells them stories about their mother.

  11. The apes are pretty much some of the most terrifying predators in niche. Killing one is a huge accomplishment and killing all three different kinds of them needs at least a certain level of devotion. I think that would be worthy of its own achievement. Another fun achievement could be one for killing a peaceful bear, it could be named "Anti-Pacifist" or something along these lines.

  18. So like, as in, I have two empty saves and on one I select the settings and then I switch to the other? The way I tried to do it was by having one empty save slot, clicking on it as if I wanted to do a sandbox playthrough, selected a setting and then switched from sandbox to story mode.

  19. They don't sleep during the night, instead whispering back and forth. When Lilur falls asleep between his cubs Adave keeps on talking, telling her brother the story of his birth. Lilur's breathing grows quieter and when she finished her story, her father has left his body behind.

  20. As Lilur awakes once more, he can suddenly feel that this will be his last day. Looking to his left he sees his children snuggled together, beige and brown fur mixed into one heap of warmth. He stretches, his joints aching and starts to pick berries, far slower than he used to in his younger days. When Dikeh and Adave wake up no words are needed for them to recognize that this will be the last day Lilur will spend with them. Dikeh silently presses up against him, barely leaving his father's side, while Adave jokes with them, trying to dispell a little of the seriousness around them.

  22. When Kura wakes up to find that a certain tiredness has taken over her body she doesn't panic. Perhaps she has never been more calm than now, as she calls her family around her. When she tells them that it is not her time to go, Lilur says nothing, only pressing himself against her. Dikeh and Adave suddenly seem to be much smaller than her, and when they snuggle up to her they are suddenly back to the small, one-gemed cubs they once were.

  24. If you think it would be necessary, yes, go for it. I give myself a grace time of 5-20 days where I kill off all attackers and then use no commands after that point, maybe it would be good for this playthrough while the tribe is still settling in. Maybe just use commands in life-or-death. Tribe is on the brink of death? use commands. Tribe is about to starve? use commands. etc.

  25. Damage multipliers only apply to nichelings. Balance bears and ramfoxes shouldn't be affected by multipliers.

  28. Good news, I have screenshots of each of the starters' genes so I can recreate them. Also, does anyone know another frost lands/mountain I could start on that would be easier for this challenge? Berries don't matter since we're carnivores. Do the easier mountains have more animals to hunt too? Which island would you reccomend and why?

  29. Thank you for your suggestions! I feel like this might be a bit OP...but I need to know more about what certain creatures give. What do balance bears and walrus deer give? This seems pretty fair, will probably go for the higher end of that if I do take this suggestion

  30. Fearless' Name Horizon and Ghost went down to meet with Lichen, Fox Heart and Plum. Horizon tapped her claws. "Well. It looks like you're having your child soon, Fox Heart. I'd like you to nest on that stump up there. So we can keep a close eye on the child." There was something malicious in her tone. Fox Heart was going to protest, but instead politely said "Yes, Your Majesty." Horizon nodded at the group as they passed her. She turned to Ghost, whose unnervingly emotionless expression watched her carefully. "Strange how rebels always fight us, then act submissively and correctly after they're threatened." Ghost nodded at her words. "Indeed. Although I do wonder what a fortune-teller would be planning in means of escape." Horizon shrugged. "Lichen is going to die soon. We don't have to worry about anything for now." Ghost watched after Fox Heart, and then turned to Horizon. "I feel like I've heard that name before.. Fox Heart.. sounds familiar, yet I can't tell what from.." "Deja vu?" "I suppose.." But Ghost couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong with the tan nicheling. King, Magenta, Alecto, and Fearless had reached the rest of the tribe. Horizon was coming back up from the lower mountain. King saw Fearless' eyes gleam in the blue light of the mountain. He had to do something. Jumping between the two, he shoved Magenta down the mountain and away from Fearless, before grabbing Fearless' paws firmly. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING!" Fearless ripped their claws free. "ARE YOU HELPING HER?" Horizon, startled, looked up at Fearless in surprise. "You can't kill Horizon!" King stared at Fearless desperately. "Then you'll just be as bad as Evergreen, killing a leader to become the new leader! A coup! Exactly why you're doing all this!" Fearless glared at King. "Karma is evil. Everyone's going to have to deal with it." King looked back at them, scared by determined. "You're just going to punish everyone. You're going to do exactly what you say Horizon is doing. You're going to become a monster, exactly as you say they are." Fearless grinned. "The ends justify the means." Alecto grabbed Fearless' arm, who tried to shove her away. "Sibling, you really do live up to your name, you Fearless creature. This wouldn't have worked. Evergreen would just kill you." She pointed to Horizon. "We're saving you from death, idiot. Just accept a punishment." Fearless glared at Alecto hauntingly. "Now I know why mother never loved you." Alecto just looked stunned; not surprised, not shocked. Just stunned. She paused, mouth slightly open, staring at Fearless, who continued. "But she will if you help me to avenge her and kill her killer. She tried to kill Evergreen herself, before that idi- before Tiger's Eye intervened. You didn't help her. But you can make it up to her now, if you help me." King looked at Fearless and Alecto in complete shock. But Horizon's voice surprised him even more. Horizon's horns were lowered in battle position, and she looked confident. "King, Alecto, step aside. Fearless needs to prove their strength. And I need to prove mine."

  31. For my lore playthroughs I prefer having the least amount of nichelings possible, I think the highest amount I feel comfortable with is 10-12, after that it just gets too stressful to keep track of everyone. So before my nichelings have kids I usually take care to make a copy of the safe file so I actually get a kid with home immunity after about two tries. Kura was a first-try success and carries HI and so do Adave and Dikeh, however for those two I had to make about five attempts to actually get an HI kid. So if I hadn't made a copy of the file Kura would probably have 3-5 kids now I find that a nicheling having four kids is the maximum I can deal with when writing lore, everything above that just takes the fun out of it for me. But yeah, I like being minimalistic with my story mode playthroughs. Takes a bit more managing but adds a whole lot of fun in my opinion!

  35. Xee had been out calling early in the morning, which disturbed the sleeping Duke beside him, who was just about ready to bash his head in. He was even about to, until they heard a voice to the side of the stump. “Hello? Sir? Can you please stop? Your voice is terrible on the air.” Xee and Duke both looked down at the child, Duke blinking before giving a smirk up to the other male. Xee huffed, then shoved the kid away from the stump. “Whatever. Scram, I don’t wanna look bad in front of the gals.” The child lifted an eyebrow, before taking a big breath in. Xee immediately covered his ears when the child let out a blood-curdling scream. She child then gave a big smile. “That outta make you look bad. Have a bad day!” The child ran just quick enough to avoid Duke’s angry claws.

  39. Floo feels terrible for the little one. He couldn't imagine the weight he must be feeling. 'What your name?' Floo asks. 'It's Glacier. Was a common name it my tribe. What about you?' (Also, is this port to whale island? I think it is but idk.)

  40. But what's this? No great beast with great deadly claws? Just one little billed boy. The small pinkish creature gasps with relief. 'I'm alive!' he says joyfully, 'Oh on, I'm alive!' his cheeriness soon turns to a paniced dread. The pink nichelings runs to the shore. He looks wet and cold. Poor little guy was probably in there for ages. As the little one turns away from Floo, he can see his giant tail. It's shaped like a hammer, good for crushing nuts and stuff.

  41. Floo, still waiting at the ice burg, tries to make a plan. He could break the ice with his paws, but that would take a lot of time and strength Floo doesn't have. Then he has big brain moment. Also here's a blue bird. Carefully he presses his green, toxic fur on to the side of the ice burg. If he is right, the radiation from his fluff should melt the ice within the hour. (he has that expression because he is now a pro scientist.

  42. The next morning Lula wakes Floo. She knows that today will be her last day of the journey, so she must ensure that he is safe before she passes. Little do they know that not far away is an ice burg, stiff, cold and waiting to be broken. Something, or someone, awaits in there.

  43. As they settle under the pine tree for the night, Lula thinks to herself. She knows that she's old, and that she's not gonna last much longer. Soon Floo will have to go on without her, and the lemon&lime team will be no more. She worries because if Floo is caught in the terrible weather that this island is capable of, it could be the end for him. Luckily, not too far away is tall and strange looking chunk of ice, standing all by it's self. Looks as though it hasn't felt warmth in ages. Maybe theres something in there that could assist Floo on his journey when Lula is gone...

  45. In the morning, Floo finds a stump to sing on. And by sing I mean he says 'CAW-KA.' Like a bird. Sadly this does not attract any little critters or nichelings. In fact, they probably ran in the other direction but that's not important. Anyways, Lula waits at the berry bush while Floo does his morning singing. She encourages him from the sides.
