Am going to be on vacation for the next week or so, and will be unable to post.

The handsome newcomer introduces himself as Liri, and quickly starts doing his best in order to support the tribe. Equally talkative he and Adave quickly take a liking to each other, both enchanted by the other. After just a few days, the two of them feel as comfortable around each other as if they'd been tribe mates for years. And so, Liri confides in Adave that he left his original tribe due to being bullied for his crippled paw. Ever since he takes great care of his appearance, in hopes it will make others overlook his flaw. Adave snuggles up against him, licking his already perfectly groomed fur in order to comfort him. For quite possibly the first time in her life she doesn't say anything, yet Liri understands her perfectly well.

The very next day Adave finds a tree stump and, curiosity rising, jumps on top of it. Suddenly remembering one of the things her father had taught her, she calls out. Her calling awakens not only Dikeh, but also causes a stranger to appear. His scent is fresh and healthy, fitting his well-groomed fur and strong horns. Yet, neither of the siblings feel threatened by his presence. He elegantly bows his head as a greeting and Dikeh offers him some berries.

Next to a huge, strangely reddish tree the two of them rest for a bit. With soft ground and tall, lush grass this part of the island is quite the nice place, especially in contrast to the wet, swampy regions the had traveled through the previous day. After a short discussion, Adave and DIkeh decide to stay.

After a few days of traveling, the sibling's still haven't found signs of other nichelings. However, spending the last days together has helped them both process the passing of their parents, and made them closer than ever. It is usually Adave who leads the way, brimming with energy, while Dikeh follows a little behind, much calmer.

@Philo Please bring back defender bears. Since people didn't like them before, I suggest: disable them for story mode. in sandbox they are available in the world settings to turn on and off. The option could even be automatically unchecked. Or perhaps some sort of changes can be made to the bears so they're more likeable. they were really fun sometimes. when the game is hard, it's fun! i had a father and son get killed by a defender bear once and it was sad but it made a cool story for the remaining family.

mine involves: -time travel -a clone -a goddess that nobody's really sure about the existence of (+ she lives in space, is like the tooth fairy but with gems, and is the mate of the time traveler) -a nicheling that was born ordinary but convinced her tribe that she's a goddess thus creating her own monotheistic religion that's more of a cult because they make regular sacrifices to her -Adam and Eve have their own story where Eve is trapped in an eternal circle of reincarnation and Adam willingly joins her because she's his true love -Meringue hands out brochures and convinces nichelings that they should get sick and pay him berries for his "service" -and MORE ...WELCOME TO THE WEIRD NICHE MYTHOLOGY CLUB : D /hj

Puffer fishes must be poisonous, not just damage. In the real world they are super poisonous, but make dolphins high in very small quantities

I would love to see water only ports that maybe just have a small beach to start on. I also love the idea of more fish/food/enemy types and underwater caves as 'nests'. I also love the idea of seaweed as underwater nesting material. I would LOVE to see the following, in addition to the suggestions above: a lionfish mutation (poisonous and cool looking!) a clownfish mutation that allows your nicheling to change genders (in the wild, clownfish meet so rarely, that when they do, the largest one turns into a female for mating purposes). Anglerfish mutation allowing you to attract small schools of fish nearby Octopus mutation that lets you change your appearance to match your surrounding environment Giant Manta rays/sharks/killer whales as big enemies akin to apes/balance bears Octopus' as enemies (they could act like moving jungle plants that ensnare your creature and you have to free them). Squids as enemies that shoot ink (and give you a movement debuf like OP suggested) Maybe underwater nichelings with enough 'swim' or 'underwater' points could lay eggs instead? It would add an interesting dynamic of whether or not you would choose to guard your egg or just leave it. The underwater nests could still be in the shallows or have a bubble source nearby so if a baby is born that lacks underwater features it won't die immediately. Also, Bioluminescence, in the water, on the nichelings, it would be cool!
