  5. As long as a nicheling is brown and white it's stolen my heart, brown and white is my favorite color combination (not as in brown and white fur mixed together but brown with white pattern and vice versa) I also really like orange eyes (because orange is my favorite color) but not a lot of nichelings have them šŸ˜” Mask is great too, I love just how many different and weird combinations you can get on different head and body types-my nichesona for example has a rectangular stripe on the top of her head As for non-cosmetic genes I don't really have a preference. I like scorpion tail and gills, which sadly I've never managed to breed into one nicheling to get the scorpion fish I so desperately want šŸ˜”

  6. Starting Stuff: 1: Create 1 ugly female in sandbox. (Derp snout/bat head, webbed/deformed etc paws, toxic body because its lumpy and hunched, stinky tail, webbed or bearyena hind legs) 2: Make her your only Nicheling and give her plenty of food so she doesn't starve before the challenge starts. Have damage multiplier at whatever you want, but at least 1. healing multiplier must be 1. 3:Set ages to: 1 baby, 2 child, 4 teen, 30 adult. 4: Use only wanderers to breed! 5: The goal of the challenge is to breed out all her 'ugly' genes in as little generations as possible! Other Rules: When your first female dies, control one of her children. Your 'main character' is either your first female or the new child who you picked. They are an alpha, the rest are omegas, they are the only one who breeds The traits you're going for (good-looking stuff) is stuff like big nose/short snout, nice eye colours, lean/medium/big body, fishing tail, medium tail, velvet paw/runner leg, runner hind legs, and whatever fur colours you find attractive. Mutation menu is banned.

  7. I go into the game, and do not see Mist and Pearl so i zoom out to find them. Here they are, and I take a screenshot cause I'm so excited! Pearl's family tree just cause, it's not that useful.... I see my first rouge male. Andre thinks they might be a wanderer and goes to greet them, but they refuse to join the tribe. Andre has a weird feeling about them. Yosurke successfully hunts a mole, I pick it up before I take the screenshot though. Makiia curiously comes over and her dad explains hunting to her. I breed them just as a rouge male shows up and tries to breed. Thankfully, Iakii's pregnant in time. Andre figures out the strange male is after his mate and hits them with his claw. The rogue runs away. Pearl tries to move over to the nest Oinu found, but her blind mate is unable to move when she does, so she has to move back so Mist can see. It is the first of the blindness struggles. This is when I realized pregnancy duration exists and what it does. I can't just breed a nicheling and plop them in a nest like I usually do. It took some getting used to but is actually kinda cool. BTW the duration is 4 for future reference. I thought it was funny that the dodomingo was sitting on a nest, and the rogue male were there staring at my female at the same time. I titled this one "talk about lust" Andre slices the rogue male again, since I realize it doesn't do much damage to them. He's trying to knock him down to size. Chisel is curious and a bit horrified. Thus ends part one of my first community challenge run. (I'm breaking it down into parts for posting and story but I played this pretty much continuously for an hour and I'm going to post part 2 right away)

  11. Name: Prisidon Gender: Male (he/him) Personality: Is quite responsible. Eldest son of Kirdon, only son of his first mate Prisada Wants to continue on his father's name and mother's line. Is very protective (and a bit controlling) of his siblings. Wants to make sure they are all safe, and can continue on their father's legacy as well. Really loves them and wants the best for them. Is respectful of tribe norms and traditions. Will generally obey the orders of those with more experiance and in authority, though if he thinks they're wrong he's not afraid to make his voice herd. Doesn't trust Meadow (mainly because of her personality but there might be some family rivalry there as well), or Rata, (he's broken up with a couple mates before their deaths, doesn't settle down, and is an orphan with no real family line, whose parents were not respected by the tribe). Though thinks they could be good fighters and defenders of the tribe anyways, if carefully watched. Pic: Extra: Has a mate back on the tribe's island. Neither of them knew but at the time he left they were expecting his first child. He didn't want to leave her behind to go and do this mission, but she encouraged him to go because she knew it was important for him to protect his siblings and he would never forgive himself if he let them go alone and they died. He didn't want her to come in case it was dangerous, because again he couldn't forgive himself if he brought her along and she died. So he went along with his siblings, and she stayed behind.

  13. Yeah, you can post it here, and if you change your mind, you can always ask a mod to put it in another section. You can also post it in playthroughs if you'd like, but that's for the actual game itself mostly, not written stories about the game.

  22. Part 7 Stronger than ever After much tracking down and chasing of the bunny through the grasses together, Lurk finally managed to kill it. this was a romantic moment for Yosuke. "Yes I love you, very much," he said as they shared the rabbit and looked at the ocean together. They also gave some to Pridukro since he had helped them track it down and was heading back to camp. Yosurke and Lurk bred for what will probably be the last time. Pearl had been with her youngest son down at the berry bushes. Mist was with bear up in the grasses picking from the cactus to feed his son (and the tribe during the starving years). Pearl died having lived half the lifespan of nichelings in this save (the other half taken by a bearyena amoung other factors). The youngest child was left alone. The bird was coming. Mist was blind but could still see thanks to his son. He went to the exact right square so both his sons could take one step toward him and be safe. Any other square one of them would've died. Bear has his mother's sticky tounge recessive so I'm really glad he survived. I'm greatful and relieved I was able to save both sons. Another bearyena showed up. This time Iakii, Andre, and their daughter Memela circle the bearyena and continually attack it, killing it in one turn. They have a feast of bearyena meat once more. This screenshot is titled "killed another one" This is a screenshot of a bunny who stole my berries and is about to get killed. They stumbled right into Yosurke, Lurk, and the helpful scout Pridukro. They're gonna die now. The screenshot is titled "you messed with the wrong guys" maybe it should be titled "you messed with the wrong tribe." Cause so far, the more adversity these guys go through, the tougher they get. They're skillful hunters and bearyena slayers....let's hope it stays that way! End of Part 7. End of my first turn of the community playthrough

  23. Part 6: The Starving Years I'm low on food now, way lower than before. I'm trying to gather enough food for the turn, and then of course a bearyena shows up, ending the relative peace of the nichelings. Pridukro was a wanderer I invited in, and he makes himself useful by gather a few berries and then when the bearyena shows up running to get members of Lurk and Yosuke's line. The screenshot is titled "getting help" Lurk calls back her mate from his mole hunt and runs into the battle herself.Iakii defends her newborn with her life. It is an epic battle. Meanwhile, Mist fumbles in the grass for berries and ends up picking for a cactus, ouch! They're still trying to get Pearl in a nest. Ruby and Oinu have left to explore together. I want (and may have to have) them be a mating pair. But they have overlapping immunity genes. Still, I think Ruby is very much in love with him and if they find no wanderers they'll become mates. This is another picture of the ensuing battle, showing the home front in Lurk and Yosuke's camp. Pridokru watching Retare, and Makiia watching her little brother. The bearyena decides to look for an easier target, and goes over to where Yosuke is standing (perhaps on his way to Retare). Yosuke delievers the final blow. The nichelings have a much-needed feast of bearyena meat. Next turn it's back to starving. Ruby the blind nicheling with the help of Oinu's sight kills a rabbil, which is some much needed food in the starving years. Proving herself a capable huntress. She's falling more in love with Oinu every day, and he thinks she's a great traveling companion and a capable friend. Yosuke kills a stag-mole as Lurk kills a bunny. They're a good hunting team. This screenshot is titlted "double kill" The end of the turn. I had 0 food at the beggining of this turn. Also, the last few turns I had been marking creatures omegas who I thought could afford to take hunger damage, and alphas those who could not. It had truely been the starving years and creatures had been taking starving damage. At the end of this turn I had hope that perhaps the starving years were over. End of Part 6, part 7 is the last part!

  27. I just finished playing, played something like 17 turns (you can see exaclty how many if you subtract 25 from the turn bar). Definately different than I'm used to with those age settings but I had alot of fun! Only one founder (and one nicheling overall I think) died. I took alot of screenshots and will post them with some story. Then will post the save file and story challenges/nicheling personalities.

  29. I agree with others here that variety is key. In my niche world I generally haver distinct family lines; though they often mix when it comes time to choose mates and that's how I keep from sick nichelings....although it's also why I have like 10 different gem combinations to represent them now instead of just the base color lines (red, blue, yellow, pink, green doesn't count....even though I now have a green line). Anyways, my point is, each family line generally takes on a specific look, especially those that inbreed which tends to happen alot but don't worry I make sure the immunity genes are compatable, sometimes the look changes with each breeding pair, sometimes it stays the same for a long time. Pink line creatures are known for purr snout, yellow line also has some purr snout in their genes (and I'm pretty saure they're also the only place big nose is still alive) but not as much, so not as many purr snouts end up being born. Any red line generally has poison fangs (though they're also the only line with bird beak), and green line is known for cracker jaw because I'm pretty sure the wanderer that started the line was the only one who had it in their genes and green line's last breeding pair were ssiblings. As for fur color, I don't generally pay much attention, I just let it be what it's going to be and every once in a while I note a nicheling that looks pretty in my opinion. Pink and red lines have alot of red fur, it was luck of the draw I think I got it from Eve. I've grown used to it, it doesn't look too bad with purr snout and pink or red colored gems. Though my first baby in storymode ever had a mix of red-black fur (and black eyes pretty sure) and he looked to me like a demon....I don't think that's repeated since, but that's my biggest taboo of red fur and I don't want to repeat it. I don't pay ANY attention to eye color, I don't know why. Don't seem to in real life either. I have to really look at eyes before I see their color and note where I like it or not. I like blue eyes, but green ones I think are my favorite. Anything but black is good in my opinion, though I don't usually notice and I think black eyes are good on psychopaths and some color combinations. As for patterns, I like spots, cause I think alot more spotted nicheling are pretty, don't ask me why, I don't know....yet anyways. Also I like to keep stripes in the family because they are Adam's original pattern, I do have creatures with stripes but most too thin to see it, so when I see a creature with stripes I can really see or effect the parrtern in some cool way I love it. No-pattern nichelings can be pretty if the right color. But I love all my nichelings anyways, and those with the most dynamic story are those I love most.

  42. I like yellow fur mixed with redbrown fur. It makes a nice orange color. Also my fav nicheling had yellow mixed with white. Other yellow combinations do look bad tough. Different eyecolors are nice.

  43. I'm boring and favor more functional genes. Things like nimble finger and ram horn (it's hard to get mega horn when u r starting new files all the time). Usually all my nichelings have the same useful traits and I leave the cosmetic traits alone. I like having variety. Tho I usually try to get rid of yellow fur because it's just plain ugly. Two yellow genes r way too bright of a yellow, but at the same time it doesn't look good mixed with other colors like brown or black. It's just horrible all around. I like mask and spots. Stripes are sometimes hard to see in my opinion, i like how they looked in older versions better. And I usually try to breed out black eyes. I like when my niches have all sorts of different colors, purple, yellow, green, blue... But when there's a lot of black eye genes they just dominate everything.

  44. Agreeing with Jojo, here. I made a save where important creatures/lines are reincarnated and held eternally young. Pretty diverse, just no derp snouts, pure red or pink fur, or black/yellow fur (until I got one good sir that could actually rock the look...).
