  4. so for some reason, I just hate basically all creatures that are made in the sandbox settings thing? its so hard to explain, but I hate how they look and hate playing with them. I think its because with natural creatures you can have basically every emotion possible leading up to their *completely random* creation. excitement, dread, anger, love, hope, sadness. and then you're in a free environment to shape their personality with no beforehand planning I find that, when im making a set of sandbox creatures to play with, I already create their personalities and what relationships they have- maybe even how they die- before I start playing. alternatively, in story mode, you just have to roll with it. moosestar, for example (high five if you know who im talking about) was supposed to have hybrid babies which were viewed as monsters by her tribe. that was my only guideline for her story, and that fell flat on its face after she couldn't tame the bearynea baby in time and it attacked her. after this betrayal from her "one true love", she decided the island was cursed and they had to leave immediately, kicking off the migration for her tribe.

  5. i agree. I tend to make really "perfect" creatures with the sandbox creator with no flaws, so sometimes i like to randomise my starters. I prefer to have random and more unique creatures with personalities that develop over time, rather than a bunch of nichelings who have a story planned out for them and who also all look basically the same. I tend to get more attatched to creatures made without the sandbox settings tbh

  6. When I play sandbox, I like randomizing the starters. It's more fun for me that way I get bored easily with super custom starters for some reason.

  10. The reason most birds (and aquatic animals) don't have outer ears is because of drag. That works two ways: For one having floppy outer ears can hamper the ability to fly/swim and for two, drag causes noise, which in turn actually makes it difficult to hear anything else while flying/swimming. Stick your head out of the window of a moving car and I'm sure you know what I mean. Still, I don't agree that having a beak should automatically disable ears. If anything, evolution is a gradual process and Niche reflects that quite elegantly. A more subtle solution that I'd like to see is as follows: Introduce "inner ears" as a new ear that can be evolved. Then make different ears have a different effect on flying (and perhaps swimming) ability. Basically: bigger ears = less flying. What I'd suggest is to leave the medium ears as is (same for bearyena), but give "inner ears" a +1 on flying/swimming and big ears a -1. To ensure these "inner ears" aren't entirely overpowered, their hearing should be less effective. I'd suggest +2 hearing (where medium has +3).

  13. ` + ` Why I Love Platypus Beak ` + ` Platypus beak, you may feel left out Platypus beak, don't pout I know of your potential And everyone shall Know how you saved a tribe from starvation Without the use of berries or condensation How you saved the tribe from the fate of old Your story will be told How you got me over 300 food Why are you so good? The only meat was a single bearyena and a rabbil I will sing this gene's use from this post's windowsill From Deadly Hills Which usually kills Let our nichelings feast On a secluded isle away from the beasts Digging up worms from the shore Holes everywhere, I say from the core You still will carry us, this is not yet your ultimate peak I love you, platypus beak

  15. It really depends in what mood I am in. Recently I started a clan for the ultimate warrior cats challenge and randomized the names and then created the Nichelings after the names. That worked well. But when I am left with no guidelines my Nichelings tend to look very perfect which can be boring in the long run. Starting of with total randomization is certainly fun, but with all the water genes that are usually thrown around can get really annoying. So yeah. Sometimes I do random sometimes I don't but I totally get what you are sayinng

  16. if i dont use the sandbox setting to create my creatures, they always end up having SOME water related gene. Thats why i prefer to customise them, even if i dont make them look super cool, and really just plain

  17. I tend to copy starters from actual saves or use the same ones all over again, so they already have a personality. Which they attained by playing with them. It's a cycle, but it hasn't been bad, with no fixed stories. Maybe planning or the lack of it really makes or breaks sandbox

  18. I understand! Usually when I use sandbox, i just take off all forbidden genes and set it to full random because it's more fun that way ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  20. Thank you guys again so much for all of the support. Hearing these from someone else besides my boy and my family really does speak out to me, and I appreciate every single minute of it. Not sure what I think about the cuddling, though! I still appreciate it nonetheless Lexapro, Day One: I forgot to take my meds! Grr! But I’ll do it tomorrow! But nonetheless, I thought today was more exuberant than usual. I was more social and I felt like myself from, I dunno, last summer. Most of the first-half of class after lunch consisted of me having fun socializing with some friends I haven’t spoken to in a while. It was oddly refreshing. Not much for today, really, other than “I CAN FEEL X AGAIN DEJA VU” —Alex

  29. Lexapro, Day 3: This time I did not forget my medication! Yay! But anyway... uhgggh, I just need to let loose some steam. So in my school, on every May 31st they host this thing called “World Day”. It’s basically where all the classrooms “become” a country of some sorts and students talk about their chosen country. As a geography enthusiast who nuts at the sight of a map, I always look forward to these days, but this year’s World Day sucked. It was super stressful and I mostly felt bored throughout the presentations. Come on, the sixth graders did friggin America! I thought that wasn’t allowed since we live in America and learning about America is apart of the regular school curriculum! I’ve already heard about a good majority of the countries, too. Yeah, a younger person would’ve probably had a blast, but I didn’t. The rest of the day was... fine, though. It wasn’t very productive. But hey, they played Minecraft music after everything! And I love me some calming music— goddamnit. I have something else I wish to speak about, but I’ll write it privately because it goes off assumptions. But it bothers me nonetheless! Thanks for... at least skimming through this entry! —Goggles

  33. I personally like the current bird beaks with ears, and feel they would look strange without them. Besides, disabling ears would also remove hearing, which is important. If it's just an aesthetic change, it should be optional.
