I settle for a ghost I never knew Super paradise I held onto But I settle for a ghost There's an island, fabled to be the safest place on Earth. A place to live and play and be happy, without the threat of constant danger hanging over your head. A place to live out your life in peace. Nichelings far and wide seek out this supposedly blessed place, desperate for the protection of the gods. This place has been labelled 'Paradise' by outsiders. But Paradise isn't what it seems. It's safe from the common dangers, but it's not a place many would enjoy staying at. The island is, in reality, more like a corrupted dystopia filled with suffering nichelings and limited freedom, all ruled over by a former god, who fell to Earth due to mysterious reasons, cast out of his own pantheon. The only ones with any power are strange, mysterious nichelings who rule the next rank down. Rumored to be demi-gods or spirits of powerful nichelings. The rest live only to work and serve under the ruler, living in constant fear and under strict, violent laws. And once you come, you can never leave again. hAHA KAT MAKING ANOTHER STUPID PLAYTHROUGH GO BRRR I just really wanted to make this, and I have so many ideas that i wanna get out before i inevitably lose interest and stop updating this,,oops playthrough starts in next post because of reasons (haha isnt it funny how whenever Foxy makes a new playthrough i also make one??? its almost like we're friends and we planned this all out beforehand or something /s /s /s /s /s)5 points

Melan hopped up onto the trunk, raising her head and letting out a loud squeak. She tried a few times to make a call, then shook her head and turned to face everyone. “This island will start a new era for our tribe. A better, stronger nest for our generations will start here.” Truce rushed up to her side with an eager smile, looking back at the tribe, the same as Melan had. “And we get to heal ourselves here! I’ve heard places like these hold smelly healing fruits!” Melan stared down at Truce, narrowing her eyes a bit before looking back at the tribe. “Yes.. That too.” She crossed a paw over another, then turned around and lay upon the stump. Everyone else disbanded from there.3 points

if there was a """script""" i think it would be better for it to be just a general idea of what happens- in the words of ranboo himself "if it was straight up just read from a script it would be TERRIBLE" (probably a little different because i can't remember something that i heard once on stream a few days ago perfectly ok)3 points

'I don't know, she was like that when I found her.' Daisy says. 'Is she lost?' Baba asks. 'Yeah. Thats what she told me.' 'Are you lost?' 'I'm traveling.' Daisy tells her. 'Why?' 'Enough about me, how'd you come upon this place.' 'I get it. I left too.' The larger female says. Both sit in silance for awhile. A natraul, quiet silance.3 points

At that moment they arrive at the tree to see two strangers sitting at Leo's tree. 'Is that her?' Asks Baba pointing at Daisy with a fistful of berries in hand. 'No... uh.... who are you guys?' Leo is confused. Daisy steps off the rabbil den. 'I'm Daisy, this is Nina...' Nina grimaces at the new nichelings. The thought of sharing her food makes her sick. 'And we were just passing through. What about you?' 'I live here.' Says Leo. 'Oh, I'm so sorry if we'd known we won't have stopped.' Baba steps closer to Daisy. 'They're nice. Far from home too.' 'Do you live here too?' 'No. Just passing through.' 'Weird. We usaully don't get visitors, let alone three.' Leo says. 'I suppose you can stay, we have plenty of food anyway. I'm Leo.' 'Baba' Baba says.3 points

A bit of backstory to the twin starters, Truffle and Brownie, and the Rockfall-Snowfall rivalry. Truffle and Brownie were actually from another tribe I had. Basically, they were the twin daughters of an elderly queen of another snow mountain tribe I made. After the tribe got scattered in a giant blizzard (inspiration for the blizzard that scattered the Rockfalls and Snowfalls), they got separated from the rest of the tribe. They survived by hopping from hotspring to hotspring and fighting balance bears, single-handedly saving the tribe from starvation. It was a great concept and I got really attached to them, so I decided to copy all their genes and make the playthrough. Also, the Rockfall-Snowfall concept was from the original tribe (and a bit of explanation to why they hate eachother). Basically, the Rockfalls were separated into 2 groups; the warriors and the weak. The Rockfall queen, Serpent, left the weak to die out and gave the warriors more privileges. The weak plotted to overthrow Serpent and have the entire tribe as equals. Instead, the rebellion failed and the weak ran away from the Rockfalls, who hunted them down. Serpent got more strict about who should stay in the tribe, and banished all who were 'unworthy'; twisted snouts, no-paws, anyone who had less than 2 strength. The weak rebels renamed their group to the Snowfalls, and grew their forces. Along the way, a new monarchy arose, with king Iceberg. The tribe was unequal and uneven and quite literally became the very thing they swore to destroy. Iceberg had 3 children with his mate, Strawberry; Aster, Frostbite, and Sakura. Shortly after, Truffle and Brownie were born into the Rockfalls portion and the blizzard hit. Will the original Truffle and Brownie tribe become relevant to the current storyline? I don't know. Will the Snowfalls and Rockfalls reform in the current events? I don't know. But there's some prequels that literally nobody asked for. Although it's not relevant to the plot, these are the exact genes of Truffle and Brownie. Quartz and Thornbush have atleast one of these in each category. Blind genes is on, so I can't see exact genes for other nichelings.3 points

Meanwhile a little ways away are Baba and Leo making their way to the tree. 'There's a lot of fauna around here.' Baba says. 'Yeah to bad I'm not much of a hunter.' 'You live alone?' 'No actually. I share the island with a friend. She might come around if were lucky. Lady likes to steal my berries.'3 points

“The first step is repopulation.” A spotted male spoke up, turning to those around him. “If we want to thrive, we must repopulate.” The winged female beside him recoiled, baring her teeth a bit before scoffing. “Since when were you our boss? Melan was the leader’s daughter, not you.” “Calm down, prissy-paw. You can sit around on your high-top some more.” Zeno turned to Mary, raising a brow. “You?” “Oh. Uhm, sure, though I don’t know if I’d be the best fit.” She shuffled her webbed paws, looking down at the blades of grass surrounding her. Zeno leaned forward and wrapped his tail around her, intertwining with hers. “There’s plenty around to help raise a cub.”2 points

Try a survivor's journal maybe? Where you pretend to be a survivor of some disaster writing about your life. It doesn't take a lot of time since as a survivor you probably have other things to do, but I've done it and it's pretty enjoyable.1 point

'Hello.' She says to the stranger. 'Well hi.' He replies. 'I'm new here.' 'I'm a local. Name's Leo.' 'Baba. I came from the hills' 'The hills? I've always wanted to visit there.' Baba looks at his bright fur and skinny build. 'You'd probably get eaten. Where do you live?' 'Oh by the tree. It's a big one, the only one on the island. I'll show you!'1 point

I had the same problem and found this page after searching through my filesystem and finding the two locations ("unity.Team Niche.Niche - a genetics survival game" versus "com.strayfawnstudio.niche") and searching to see if anyone else had reported the problem before I experimented with copying files around. (It's ironic when the only way you can find the solution is to already know the solution, but so it goes.) I switch Steam to using the beta "release_preview" version, and it didn't help. Was that the right version? (For added fun, for ages I couldn't figure out how to rename saved games, and the game doesn't prompt you to (or at least not that I've ever noticed), so all my games are named "New Game" even when they're many hours old. But when I load them, the game starts the tutorial, so they're truly "new" and not my saved games.) I'm going to copy the files by hand for now, but I have "Time Machine" backups and can go back to how things were if you want me to test again/differently. Thanks.1 point
