  13. Name: Pineface Gender: Female (questioning) Pronouns: She/they/he Age: 23 moons Appearance: Personality: Pineface cares a lot about their clanmates, but doesn't often show it due to unconsciously not knowing how to. She thinks she will have kits only to give the clan more members, like how her mom did. Pineface doesn't think he'd make a good parent, preferring to interact more as an aunt or friend instead. Pineface wants to be deputy like her mother Sweetface, who he is named after. She is very strict on rules and will disagree with any big changes to them. Backstory: Pineface was born as Pinekit along with her sister Ravenkit to Sweetface, being mostly raised communally by the clan. As an apprentice he became closer to Sweetface as a teacher figure, wanting to be just like her and become a respected cat but not viewing her as a mother figure. Pinepaw was mentored by their uncle Seabreeze and they got along, maintaining a friendly relationship even after she herself became a warrior. Before getting separated from the clan, he wished to mentor one of Seabreeze's 3 young kits. They're currently focused on making sure Ravenfrost and her kits are safe. Skills: Leadership, hunting, knows like 2 herbs Do you want a chance to be leader?: yes Do you want a chance to be med cat?: no Relationships: Sweetface (mother), Ravenfrost (sister, littermate), Badgerkit (nephew), Winterkit (niece), Cherrykit (niece), Seabreeze (uncle), 3 unnamed cousins Other: She's basically a copy of her mother but long-haired, less white and doesn't have the heart-shaped marking Sweetface does. Isn't sure on their sexuality but isn't really thinking about it either.

  15. Hi! I've started up a few games now, but seem to run into issues with feeding my villagers, ending up in villagers being starved to death. I always make a farm quite early on. In my last playthrough I put 3 workers on the farm. Meanwhile, I also periodically harvest groups of berries, and prioritize them when I notice my food supply gets too low. But soon there are not too many berries left on the map. Regarding the farm: I often try to use all the plots (or a large part of them) for beets. Is it true that a fully farmed farm with beets is insufficient to feed 16 starting villagers? Also, I notice that beets sometimes get stored in the farm and then are not shown in the number of beets in the top left corner. Although villagers seem to be able to go to the farm and get beets there. In my large playthrough I also added a kitchen, although apparently that was already close to when my people started starving - currently I only have 13 people left, which makes it harder to continue to keep ourselves alive while also expanding stuff. Am I maybe making a mistake with the food stuff? Should I have more than 1 farm, or try to beeline for the wheat, mill and bakery?

  16. Last Update: February 2024 What to do if the game crashes or does not start - Update your Graphic Card Drivers (this solves most of the issues) - Make sure you have enough free disk space - If you have limited memory (4GB) and have a lot of other programs running, close them to free some memory for the game. - Create a bug report with the logfile (see below how to get it) What to do if all buildings and villagers are invisble Unfortunately this could mean that your graphic card does not support ShaderModel 5+ and does not meet the minimum requirements for the game. We display the Village using Compute Shaders which need DirectX 11 and ShaderModel 5. - Update your Graphic Card Drivers (Just to make sure and try again) - Try with a lower Texture Quality setting - Contact us or google to check if your graphic card does the minimum requirements What to do if the game runs slow - Make sure you computer is above the minimum requirements - If your graphic card does not support ShaderModel 5.0 or above, the game will not run - Update your graphic card drivers - Reduce the games graphic settings - If none if this helps, please submit a bug report using the ingame reporting tool so we can analyze it What to do if the Intro video does not play On Windows we require the Media Foundation so the video can be played. Normally this is installed by default. However if the intro does not play you could try this: - install the Microsoft Media Foundation from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/search/result.aspx?q=Media+Feature+Pack for your version of Windows. - Or go to Windows Settings --> Apps --> Manage optional features --> Add a feature --> Windows Media Player --> Install. What to do if the game scrolls automatically into village view Several people have this problem, mostly it hits with laptopts. We think the problem is the trackpad constantly giving scroll input to the game. Sadly we do not have similar hardware to take a closer look at it. But we try to find a fix for it. Currently this is what you can try to solve the issue If you have any devices (mouse, keyboard, joystick, gamepad, web cams) plugged into your laptop, try unplugging all and start the game a new. Then plug them back in. If this doesn't work or you have no attached devices, you can set the "Scroll sensitivity" in the game settings to 0. You will need to switch your views with the keys 4,5,6 now instead of scrolling. Reset key bindings to default, up to version 0.4.1.0 the game contains the following bug: if keys were mapped to mouse buttons and then were removed again, the said button is mapped to horizontal mouse movement. (you can check this by not moving the mouse and trying to switch view. If you can only switch view while the mouse is not moved, than you have this bug) Where to find Logfiles & Savefiles If you report a crash, sometimes it can be very useful for us to have a look at the save file or at the logfile of the game. The easiest way to provide us with both is to use the in-game bug reporting tool, by pressing the bug button in the top right corner, this will send us the files automatically. However, sometimes this won't work so here is explained how you can find the log and save files on your computer: Windows - In the Windows Explorer, go to view and tick the box to show hidden files - Navigate to C:\Users\Username\AppData\LocalLow\Stray Fawn Studio\The Wandering Village - Inside this folder is the "Player.log" which is the logfile - The save files are stored in the Saves folder Mac and Linux For Mac and Linux the paths to the saves and logfiles looks like this: - Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/com.strayfawnstudio.thewanderingvillage - Linux: ~/.config/unity3d/Stray Fawn Studio/The Wandering Village How to report bugs or get support The easiest way to report bugs is the in-game bug reporting tool, by pressing the bug button in the top right corner. However we won't be able to help or respond to those bug reports. If you need help the fastest way to reach us, is if you post your problem on our Discord: https://discord.gg/bJagRfx. Otherwise make a post on the forums.

  18. * When building something and there are resources on the ground, the square shows as red. * However it's still possible to start building * This is kind of confusing. Red implies it's not possible to start building. * Took a while to grok that the harvest tool (or build/action orders in general) are global and not per person. * Great that it's possible to queue build commands with shift. * This feels like from Total Annihilation (or similar) * It's not documented or mentioned (or i haven't seen it...) * Building two research buildings i expected that it's possible to research two things at the same time. * As far as i understand it, it just increases the research speed in a non-linear manner (150% with 2 buildings(4 people) * When building buildings with a range (e.g Farm and Mycologist) it would be great to see the range of already existing buildings. * Some names seem inconsistent. e.g Farm and Mycologist refer to the place and the person. * Consistent would be Farmer and Mycologist, or Farm and Mushroom Cultivation * Windows (like the research tree) can only be closed with `esc`. Not an issue, but i was kind of looking for the x to close the window. * What does the free workers slider in the population dropdown do??? * There is food available at my kitchen, but still some people die because they just don't go and get their food? * In the end this is what killed me. I had enough food, but people still died

  36. Here are the profiles (complete with DNA sample analysis) of the young adult creatures born in our Savanna Exploration and Experimentation Plan that we have deemed not completely suited for the task of exploring and examining the creatures of the Burning Savanna where we are currently stationed. If unclaimed, some may go to zoos, others may remain at the Burning Savanna regardless as the transition from wild to zoo life wouldn't suit them. @HOLD THE MAYONNAISE and anyone else who has rehabilitation or observation programmes or run a zoo are welcome to claim nichelings as well. Please only claim 3 or less to start to give others the chance to claim some of them. Thank you. Here is our most prolific breeding pair so far! This unlikely pairing has developed into a regular mateship and even romance (you can see the rogue male has only mated with Drone 2!). They have 4 children, 3 of which are ready to go to their new homes. Meisel is the eldest. She is adventurous and bold. She is the most independent of her siblings, though she is responsible for watching the younger ones sometimes. As a child she was threatened by a bearyena but through the efforts of her mother, her mother's best friend, and her father she was not even attacked. The incident hasn't made her timid, rather she will defend anyone she loves with great gusto. Best suited to a rehabilitation programme, observation programme (where she is apart of the nichelings being observed), or the being kept on the island she is now Age: newly gemmed adult +7 (10 in my game but urs probably has longer lifespans) Tame is second eldest. She was threatened by a bearyena as a child and attacked by that bearyena as a teenager. She is thus timid and cautious. She looks up to her older sister Meisel, but has an unbreakable bond with her younger sister Komira. She will fight to defend her younger sister, despite her timid nature. She is worried about her sister's illness and looks after her because of it. Is adventurous and loves to explore with Komira or Meisel. Whoever takes her must take her sister Komira with her as well, she would be devastated and confused if separated from her. Best suited to an observation programme, rehabilitation programme, or a zoo. Age: Newly gemmed+4 days She was never threatened by a bearyena like her siblings, but she is threatened by the sickness she was born with. She has an inferiority complex. She loves and looks up to her bigger sister Tame. She feels her parents don't love her. She is adventurous when around Tame, but timid all other times. Whoever takes her must take Tame as well. Because of her sickness she will have the longest life expectancy in a zoo, though it may be possible to cure it at least temporarily to give her a better chance in the wild. Age: Newly Gemmed+1 day The other nichelings ready to be released into the wild are the offspring of a wanderer. (dad's genes) Drone 7 fell in love with this wanderer and was the first to have children with him. These are her children: The youngest of her mother's children thus far. Rais is fairly sedentary and wants to settle down and start a family. She also likes to stock up on food. She isn't the best at gathering it herself, but she is good at managing resources. Best suited to a rehabilitation programme or a zoo Age: Newly gemmed adult Memi is the eldest child of her mother. She has a strong relationship with her and her father. But she also is adventurous. She likes to hunt. She is kinda naive. Best suited to a rehabilitation programme, an observation programme, or staying on the island she's on. Age: Newly gemmed adult+1 day Drone 8 was less sure about breeding with a wanderer but she wanted some children so she gave it a shot. She nested in a tree. She had twins! She has a close bond with her twin Elme. They are adventurous and get into all sorts of trouble together. She is the follower of the two, though she disagrees with her sister on plenty! Lara likes to hunt. Naïve. Would prefer that she and Elme stay together. Best suited for anything except a zoo Age: Newly Gemmed Adult Has a close bond with her twin Lara. She is the unofficial leader and leads them into trouble a lot. She likes to fight and dreams of killing a bearyena. Rash and quick to rush into things. Would prefer that she and Lara stay together. Best suited for anything except a zoo (though she might cause some problems wherever she goes!) Age: Newly Gemmed Adult
