  1. Visually "Big Nose" has always seemed to be the canine snout to me, so I'm not sure if this is really needed. I do like the howling option though.
  2. I know this is an older comment, but given what the Rogue males do to the females, I'd say the kids can handle cannibalism.
  3. Ah, so it does do something. I guess that negates some of my reasoning then. I just picked Niche back up several days ago, and I forgot what some of the genes do (ha ha.) I remember they were talking about it, and even when it was called Spit Snout as well. There was talk of reducing the hearing and sight attributes sometime ago as well, but I don't quite recall if that was among the devs or the fans.
  4. Short snout doesn't appear as often among wanderers, but you start with it unlocked, and once it's in your gene pool it spreads like wildfire. I don't really think too much should change given the above reasons. Also in anatomy not every body part technically needs a function. Some are leftover relics from previous times on the evolutionary tree. Considering how long its been in the game that could be the case here. Though if purpose is something in question here, why are we not looking into the derp snout as well? It doesn't affect anything and is purely cosmetic as far as I'm aware. Not that I want it gone either; it's charming in its own unique way. If we must adjust the stats of short snout, however then maybe make it more attractive or give it a better advantage in terms of calling out for wanderers.
  5. Honestly my first save with Oasis went really well. It was a slow grind in the beginning, but I believe I started off with one clawed Nicheling and was able to unlock a lot of fishing genes that way. I'm had nearly 100 food, so life was very good. I think it's really luck of the draw when you decide to make a hard island your starting point. If you aren't lucky I'd suggest plunking those creatures in the water ASAP and hoping you unlock genes before they all die out.
  6. I don't see it as much, but once it's in a gene pool it spreads like wildfire, so I think it's actually balanced now.
  7. Yep. I still call deformed paw "no paw," and rogue males "horny males" as well.
  8. "Kneesh." Though the pronunciation debate (for the word, not the game) is likely due to dialects as opposed to one being more correct than the other.
  9. Peaceful Meadow and Oasis. Both are really conducive to telling stories with the way I play.
  10. Honestly this isn't a bad idea. The first thing that comes to mind is the Spore species timeline where it shows the major events in a species' evolution. If this were implemented I imagine it wouldn't be a thing for videos but something akin to what the afforementioned game had. I think it would begin with "[insert starting pair names here] arrived on a new island!" It would then track the days at which children were born, deaths occurred, wanderers invited in, and new genes unlocked. I think this would make a very interesting way to see how far our nichelings have come, though I do fear the space it would require.
  11. I'm on board with this one hundred percent. This is one of those features I dearly miss. Same with being able to name them from the info window as well.
  12. I can't support this either. Not due to lack of realism or anything like that, but I don't quite understand why this is needed. We already have low to infertility to reduce the chances of pregnancy. I don't really get why a game about breeding would need an extra nerf when one exists as it is.
  13. I much prefer the new version for patterns and coloration, but an option to toggle older ones would be cool.
  14. Yep, I believe it was said on their Twitter.
  15. You're just super unlucky. This happened to me a handful of times, but it's generally an uncommon occurrence. It's just how and when things choose to spawn. It sucks to be on the negative side, but it happens. As far as rogue males are you sure they're showing up on Peaceful Meadow? I've never seen one on that island type. The new update may have changed this, (though I haven't seen them there yet) but I thought only Grass Adventure and maybe Archipelago (can't say for sure as I don't really play the latter) had them. Perhaps I've just been lucky.
  16. Are you collecting them each time they fall? I may be wrong, but I think collecting them encourages them to fall more frequently than if you aren't. I'm fine with the amount they fall, but I would definitely like more clarity on their rules. Is stunning only supposed to last a day? If so I don't get notifications or any nicheling screams of pain indicating that more coconuts have fallen. Certainly keeping them as a shake only type of deal would make things easier, but other nuts don't work like that, and you'd still have to get stunned to eat them, so I don't think this would alleviate the issue. Maybe adding a sort of "Hard Head" effect to certain genes would help or even preventing them from falling on easy islands could do the trick.
  17. I get the confusion, but I like that it's difficult to achieve. I don't really think it should change personally. It keeps this gene special and more like an accomplishment.
  18. They seem the same to me, maybe you're just unlucky in that regard.
  19. Maybe it is XD. I was so happy to think I understood, when ironically I probably didn't.
  20. I agree. We do need more water related things. Perhaps even a mostly underwater island. Like a beach, with a thin strip of land that tapers off deep into the ocean.
  21. I love how the creatures are mixtures. I noticed it, but never really focused on it. Somehow I'm just coming to the realization that a rabbil is a mix between a rabbit (obviously) and a gerbil. Don't know why it took me so long to figure out its other half.
  22. The call is a temporary. They're still adding things for this update. The tail, I'm unsure.
  23. I think they'll continue making new updates as long as Niche remains profitable. They've done three giveaways in succession, so I imagine the game isn't doing too badly in the money department. I even doubt this is the last huge update as we have staff coming by pretty frequently to support our suggestions or tell them why they can't be implemented. Now for the dreaded acronym: DLC. I absolutely hate it. The Niche devs haven't fallen into the trap of leaving out content that should've been in the game to begin with, but I worry suggesting it may go down that road. It's - unfortunately - a smart business decision, and younger gamers don't know the difference compared to now and how things were before, (meaning they'll buy DLC content regardless) but it's a slippery slope that makes me nervous. I feel like raising the price of the game for future buyers is more fair, but I know money talks louder than anything, so I suppose we'll just have to wait and see.
