  1. This is Rikuta, his name is a combination of his father's name and his mother's name. His mother needed to pass on an immunity gene before she died but had no mate. His father desperatly wanted a mate and to be a father. They happened to meet on his mother's last day alive. She died as she gave birth to Rikuta.

  2. I think in order to make it fair the bearyena would have to be offered 15+ food in order to tame it? I absolutely love the idea of a new body type from it, though maybe add some negatives so it's not just an upgraded big body? Maybe enough reduction from heat resistance that even in climates that aren't that hot, resulting in reduced energy. That would exclude winter islands of course.

  3. It would be nice to have more weather types in Niche, not only for immersion but for gameplay as well. The new antenna gene would also benefit from this change by having more weather to sense. I have compiled a list of possible new weather types below. Fog sight reduced by -2 white fur increases camouflage by +2 Thunderstorm all animals have a chance to be struck by lightning lightning has a chance to start a wildfire Hail all animals have a chance to be stunned animals are protected by taking shelter Suggestions on how these new weather types could be improved are welcome.

  4. From what I saw in the promotional material for this game, I noticed one picture showcased nichelings with different pupil types (I've included the picture in this post for reference) . I was thinking that it would be a nice addition if nichelings could mutate different pupil types. It could either be purely aesthetic, like the nicheling's eye color, or the pupils could have some survival advantages. For example, the slit pupil gene could make sight better in darker biomes, like the swamp, Cephalopod eyes would increase sight underwater, etc.

  5. I was thinking that there should be some more Niche sicknesses in the game, and the one I immediately though of was rabies. Here is what it will do and how it will work. - So first A niche may be attacked by a bearyena/ other predator, this gives the niche a chance to become infected. (Though still pretty small) - The infected Niche will first start resisting user commands, and will lose life slowly. (Day 1) - After a day it will be entirely inoperable and will start attacking the babies of the tribe. Eyes will also appear red or milky. (Day 2) - On the third day it will start attacking its own tribe members, resulting in more rabid niches. (Day 3) - Unless killed they will continue losing health and attacking niches and any other creature nearby. Their lifespan will be cute in half. - Remember this is a rare to moderate chance! More so depending on the predator. Red-eyed Bearyenas have a bigger chance of having it. - Rogue males may also have a VERy rare chance of obtaining rabies and passing it onto your tribe! Edit: The editing button works now yay!!! Thats my thoughts!

  6. On my first experience I found it challenging that there was such a small building area around the "brain". After playing for a while I was able to realize that by dropping a part on another you can change it's "root" there by allowing larger builds to take shape. I'm proposing adding a slide to the instructions that explains this mechanic and also highlighting the "root" part when you have a part selected.

  9. I really enjoy your idea! ^^ I think that the progression of the Rabies could be a little slower. for the first three days, the nicheling could lose one energy to their total amount of energy left. they start off with three energy the first day. Then it decreases down to two the next day, and it keeps decreasing until the nicheling has a day with no energy, as if it had used its turns for the day. On the fifth day, it would "banish" itself from the tribe and start attacking its tribe mates. However, if it get to a healing plant before they lose all their energy, they can be cured.

  10. This sounds like a really nice idea! Since it limits the repetitive aspect of the game that can sometimes make it a bit boring! Great idea!

  11. Aww I am so sorry @Pokestardragacraft but also wow that are a lot of pets and all of them together *-* so cute! @Philo that with your cats is also sad but as a dog owner I'd say small dogs can be just as a handfull as big dogs ^^ (I'd recommend taking a dog from a shelter :3 )

  12. There is a suggestion for Bird Hindlegs. Maybe these 2 could be combined :)?

  13. You both have very cute pets :D! Very sad that Dedenne died @Pokestardragacraft I'm sure she had a great life with you. I currently don't have any pets. Since my two cats died (both had a sickness from birth that we only learned about close to their death) I stayed away from pets for a bit. I'm currently considering to get a small dog. My favorite breed would be a Shiba Inu, but from all I read they are quite a handful

  14. Ah, your pets are so cute! Here are my pets (from left to right-ish): Sunny the bichon frise, Dedenne the hamster (rest her soul, she died last night), Fall the guinea pig, Frosty the New Zealand white rabbit, Fade the Netherland dwarf rabbit, and Peanut the Flemish giant rabbit And I also have a fish tank and I couldn't find any current pictures of it, so maybe I'll upload a picture of it later.

  15. First is of Laralee, she was from a savannah tribe and sacrificed most of her life chopping down cacti so her tribe wouldn't starve. Second is of Meana, a creature I freed from the ice. She saved the tribe from a balance bear with the help of her children, unfortunately the tribe died off after a few generations to sickness due to lack of immunity genes. Third is Kirkuduk and his mate Lako. Kirkuduk led an attack against a balance bear even though he's not that strong. I allowed him to have a few children even though there was a risk of double deformed paw, but somehow, the mutation menu helped all four of the children have double bearyena claws. Fourth is the Meane family. The white porcupine is the mother of all of those ones. They were a jungle family who wasn't too suited to the jungle. I absolutely loved them. Unfortunely at one point twins were born, both were lost to the ape due to the others fleeing.

  16. Yeah! That would be a great idea that they aren't guaranteed to always be friendly. Maybe we'd have to keep feeding it in order to raise the chances of it being friendly? The idea of even stronger genes from it does sound nice, but I agree that it would be overpowered.

  17. A possible addition to this could be the creation of a new gene: the killer bearyena body. the bearyena currently doesn't have a separate body in it's genetics, just big body. maybe there could be a baby bearyena that the same with it's weaker counterpart needs to have it's mother killed resulting in it becoming tamable and then potentially requires a higher amount of food to tame it due to it being larger. it could have all the same genes as a bearyena but two new ones: a bearyena body that gives off the same killer bearyena defense (which I currently don't remember, is it 2? 3?) and then as you suggested, red eyes. Due to the defense you would gain from this body and it should probably give +1 or +2 attack as well, in a way that's balanced with the defense given, it should be like you said where the bearyena needs to be tamed before it grows into a teen or else it will become wild again. the main issue with this is: too overpowered. But I think justifications for this would be 1: the limited time to kill the mother and tame the child giving a challenge and the fact these creatures only appear in one of the most difficult islands, meaning most players who would be able to gather this genetic would either be end game or very experienced, which to me justifies the addition of a bigger badder genetic to really amp up game play As always I would love to hear thoughts and ideas on this, especially from the OP

  18. Maybe add slots for shields allowing for upgrades like physical interaction (Slowing your drone from hitting walls and such) improved efficiency, heat/cold resistance, explosion resistance, improved size, a healing effect for blocks within the area, and other things.

  19. Whenever I go to start a new game, I can't watch the intro scene. The audio jumps a lot, and then the cutscene wil randomly stop. It doesn't always stop at the same time, but it's always before the bluebird grabs Adam. I'm not really sure whats going on with it, but I thought I'd report it.

  20. Hello! So I think that niche could use a little bit more idle movement. The eye blinking is already a nice step, but besides that and head moving, there really isn't a lot of interactions or movements, so here are a few things I think would be nice to add. -Maybe a nose lick, scratching and itch or just moving their ears around? -when going to sleep, they can curl into a little ball. - Maybe (If its not too much work!) Add a little brawling, perhaps a rare animation that happens between two males one in a moon? Those are my suggestions! thanks for considering

  21. I have found it frustrating when building a drone that I cannot either select multiple parts at once or a way to copy/paste the settings from one part to another. I realize both these scenario probably work best when the part type is homogeneous. If this was implemented it would make updating the configuration of a set of parts much easier.

  22. Ok this is actually more of a role-play aspect of the game. Perhaps there should be a little bubble that you can write stuff about that particular niche. Maybe about the most successful babies born to that niche, roles in the tribe, or just little reminders to breed that niche with another! It would be really helpful to me, who often forgets about breeding my best niches together, and it would be fun to make a little story in the progress!

  23. A block that acts as the cursor for the gravity sensor. It'd be in another mode and set to specific tags. You could use this to build automated resource collection drones, just drop off one of these babies in the resource collector, and you could automate around the fact that it knows where the resource bin is. You could also use it for other purposes, like building satellites that follow your drone about from above.

  24. I love the new minimap! But there are some areas it could be improved. 1) Greater contrast between your ship and the planet/rings. Right now if you are over an already-colored area, your ship can't be seen. 2) Show ore and/or other resources on the minimap. Maybe only show ones you've already seen (to aid when you return for more gathering).

  25. I saw this idea suggested in the first community voting, and was disappointed when it was overlooked, so I am glad it is getting proper recognition now. Carrying baby nichelings would be an immersive and useful addition to the game, and would save many tribes from extinction, so it is definitely something I would want.

  26. In the closed Alpha we have added a Sumo Tournament. Here is how the Sumo Tournament works: Visit the Sumo Arena location You enter the tournament with one fully autonomous drone Your drone fights against drones that other players entered the tournament. The score you get is the number of consecutive wins You cannot change or edit the drone between fights Internally we use a highscore list to save your drone and the number of wins. You get placed in this list as soon as you finish the tournament or get beaten. We then use this list to find matching opponents for your drone depending on your score. Also the best Sumo Drones are also placed into the Sumo Rings all across the galaxy and all other players will have to defeat them! We would love to hear your feedback about this! Do you like this kind of tournament? Do you have ideas to make it better? Let us know!

  27. Either falling apart or flooding. Maybe one end of the island starts sinking/ flooding first and you have to get to the other side, or there is higher ground on the other side. If there is flooding the rivers would also rise and cause problems. A timer could be helpful.?

  28. I definitely like the idea of more sicknesses. The question is could it be healed by the healing plant? And or could it only be healed on the first day of infection? Also, I like the idea that we would not be able to control the creature anymore. Still kind of feels a little unbalance ^^

  29. Maybe an upgrade that'd allow your bullets to explode the enemy's projectiles (Shooting a wave of bullets as a shield), Wards, that have 4 slots, but do nothing by themselves. You can input things like a damaging effect to enemies (Maybe attuned to a certain element) A heating/cooling effect, increased range, a healing effect to your drone, a health buff to blocks in range, increased efficiency, slowing down enemy projectiles/speeding up your projectiles, buffing any shields in range to also cover it's radius but be weaker overall, increase specific attributes of weapons in range, repel enemies.

  34. In this mode, there would be two different leagues, one standard league, where you enter your drone to be placed in a random batch of drones used to allow others into the league, and one professional league. The standard league would, when won, allow for your drone to be entered in the standard rotation (Identical drones would not be allowed in the rotation, and old drones ould maybe get purged out of the system if their win/loss ratio is too low?) It would consist of random drones already in rotation. The professional league would consist of 10 drones. Whenever you win against one or more drones, you take their spot in the ranking, with top spot maybe earning you decals or a mark on the forum or something similar. Current holders of the top spot would have a shinier medal than old holders of it. If you held it multiple times you may get multiple awards. THis top 10 list would likely be cleared every month or so, to keep things fresh.

  36. To add I think the base drain should be lowered and add a per-hit/damage absorption energy cost so heavy fire would drastically drain energy while avoiding fire would help shields not eat up all your energy.

  37. A leaderboard of who has won the tournament how many times would be a nice addition. Independent of the drone used.

  38. Well, I'm new to this forum so I guess I'll introduce myself I'm commonly called Flamingo by my friends so feel free to call me that, I'm a girl, I was born in Louisiana but I have lived in Texas for most of my life. I am a big Niche fan and have been playing since some of the earliest versions (the version with just one island, but I don't remember it's number :p) I own a group for Niche called Niche Challenges, which I started a few months after I bought Niche. My steam profile is flamingogyrl~ (link in my about section). I am a huge fan of Warriors (Warrior Cats), it is by far my favorite book/book series. That's basically it, so ya. I'm also bad at closing off or ending stuff.

  39. I admit I completly misread your post at first I think if we got this there should sometimes be an event when the killer bearyenas hits one of your creatures, like a randomizer determines each day if it'll stay friendly. Why? Because I feel like these big and strong creatures might just lash out 'accidentally' one day or maybe you get lucky and they never will. But you'll still be able to breed with it. I also think that it should give slightly different genes as they are stronger and have defense opposed to the normal bearyenas but that might make the following hybrids even more overpowered

  42. I made a similar suggestion to this in the first community voting, but it was not among the most popular suggestions at the time, and was overlooked. I would still like to see this added to the game, because it would help roleplayers and increase immersion. Separating the family tree by generations is a good idea to prevent lag, but preferably it would be seamless.

  43. Worms... I remember when the first one got released! Now i feel a bit old... As i dont know how to solve it either i can just hope there is a "simple" solution to it. Maybe the drone can "damage" the landscape with its mass / inertia? So when the drone hits landscape head on there should be not much difference to how it is now, depending on inertia of the drone there could be a little dent, but a tiny pixel will just be "killed" from the impact of the drone.

A glue that connects blocks together, with only the originally glued blocks able to make additional connections, blocks that can form connections with a limited number of blocks around them for armor and support, an anchor block for the web, so if it is broken the entire web of glued blocks fall.

  49. Personally, I would make it a different kind of gamemode (like story mode or sandbox). You start off normally, but you can easily customize your Nichelings. This would also give easy success to commands (old and new), like Give Food, Give/Take Age, etc. Maybe even one wheree you can choose a different island to go too, then select some of your creatures (probably with a limit like 15 or something).
