  1. Hello Stray Fawn. I was really excited to see the ranking system in the game when I just started to play, but there is something I do find uncomfortable to manage: Babies rank in the tribe. Depend on mammal kind in real life, some species giving first priority to feed babies, and then adults eat after; Some tribes where adults eating first and then feeding babies with what is left over. I do understand there is also being a "Strongest survives" term by meaning baby who did not get or there is not enough food is dying. ___ I played for a while now and if there is not enough food and some females are pregnant, their babies going to starve out when they just get born. What I mean is - I think it would be awesome if there could be some extendant hierarchy system in the game. And the player can manage overall if it's in the first priority to feed babies first, if babies eating only after adults, if newborn getting food first at all if it is not enough and so on... Thank You for Your Attention Stray Fawn :)

  2. Hello there! So I know it is a big ask, believe me, but I do notice you have a LOT of biomes and I especially notice the cacti in the dry grassland areas of the game. I was curious as cacti are found in deserts and it got me thinking: what about a new biome with new traits to compliment it. With the new birds update, it made me think. We have mammals covered on all bases, we now have bird parts to play around with, so why not add reptiles with the new desert biome? I believe it would be really cool as we could have scale-bodied creatures with a higher defense, or creatures with lizard faces that would help in the desert area, or even a crocodile evolution trait. The posibilities are endless and I think it would be an amazing idea, but again it is a big ask and/or task, so my hopes are not high. I love the game though, and hope to see many awesome new things! 3. Not all are combinations, there are fish swarms, and there are some creatures which are more like alterations like the goldleech, razorhana and others

  4. or maybe every action symbol gets its own color, like, swimm blue, walk green, breed soft pink, collect berries dark purple (berry colored), build nest beige, attack red or something like that I imagine that would even help to prevent missclicks

  5. @bostonlobstahI once got two Tata's from the same rogue male! XD

  6. Since there's currently only 3 types of hind legs, I thought one that matches up with winged nichlings would work. The gene would give them 4+ attack since a predatory bird's talons are pretty powerful. I might put up a drawing on what it might look like later.

  7. I would love to see carrots in niche, so I made this. Carroot is like a carrot but purple. (Because carrots used to be purple.) Carroots would grow in random places on grassland islands. You would need digging ability to collect them. They would grow like this: 1st day: Just top of the carroot is shown (You can collect it, but you get just 1 nesting material) -> 2nd day: Carroot is ready to be picked up! It gives 3 food and 1 nesting material. There's a hole for a new carroot. New one starts to grow when its raining. Adult animals can hold carroots in their mouths and put them down. When they put them on different places, more carroots will grow around them. They can't put them in their growing hole again. If you pick carroot in its first day (when it isn't ready) it will never grow up (gives just 1 nesting material). I haven't decided, which snouts could pick carroots. Any ideas? Facts/ideas about it: •Rabbils like them •You can stand on them without breaking them •Roots appear under it after harvesting them Do you have any ideas? Should something be different? I'll add some of the good ideas of yours to the Facts/ideas. Thanks to: Fishyfishyfishy500 for the re-plasing and planting new carroots - idea. Thanks to Dazenith for the idea, that you would need digging ability to collect carroots.

  9. This just came to my mind after I read a steam post where a Nicheling was stunned for ten days until it died because the coconuts kept falling. So here we go: once your Nicheling is stunned if you don't pick up the coconut no new coconut wil fall and the Nichling can be free again while only taking one point of damage.

  10. Hello all! I thought I would share a gene idea: Bat Head. We don't currently have a counter for the sleepy flies on the swamp islands, so I thought I would think of something to combat that. If a nicheling has a bat head, it is able to collect the flies as a food source since bats usually feed on insects. This head would disable ears and provide a high hearing ability. Bats are fantastic at detecting possible prey through echolocation. Basically, the bat hears echos from it's ultrasound vocalization (squeaks) and is able to track prey through that, hence the idea of a high hearing ability. Here's a little drawing I did in order to visualize what the head might possibly look like. Thanks for looking!

  11. Since we have Armored Body and Hammer Tail, I figured it would be pretty neat to have an Armored Head. It could easily be based off of the ankylosaurus or any kind of ceratopsian- I'd personally prefer ceratopsian simply because their shields are impressive-looking, but ankylosaurus heads are just as effective while being cuter so I won't turn them down. Now, I hear what you're saying: "Put MysticTopaz, ceratopsians' shields were more for looks than anything!" And yes, that is true, but imagine if they were reinforced and actually were viable shields- that'd be awesome! As for stats, I figure it could give at least a +1 in defense, but I'd prefer a +2. And a regular sense of smell. This would be a perfect addition to the ice genes, btw, just in case everyone was wondering where/how we'd get an armored head .::EDIT::. Thanks to Pokestardragacraft for the addition of this idea: instead of Ankylosaurus or a ceratopsian type of head, the head could be that of a Pachycephalosaurus, adding +1 strength +1 defense and +1 smelling. Meanwhile, the Ankylosaurus would be +2 defense +2 smelling, and the ceratopsian head, if we're going off of legitimate history, would probably be better suited as a +1 intimidation +1 attractiveness +1 smelling rather than having any defense stats. Pachycephalosaurus https://goo.gl/images/wrJDTV Ankylosaurus https://goo.gl/images/FGTUdx Protoceratops [I chose this instead of any other ceratopsian because it doesn't have horns, since this is a head build and horns are separate in the game] https://goo.gl/images/T8ficF

  12. I want to post lookouts on high perches to keep watch for predators and prey or maybe even help with scouting. I hit on the idea of using rocks as vantage points. A nicheling perched on a rock could have +1 or +2 vision, and see one tile further into surrounding grass. To balance out the benefits of this, the following restrictions could apply: - Climbing onto a rock requires 2 or 3 movement. (Climbing is harder than walking, and a creature that can barely move on land can't climb.) - Lookouts on rocks can't interact with surrounding tiles. (To pluck from that berry bush by the rock, you'll have to climb down, pick berries, and climb back up. No free lunch.) Additionally, nichelings might be safe from bearyena and ramfox attacks while perched on rocks, but not from apes, balance bears, or killer bearyenas. Predators of sufficient size or agility have no trouble reaching high places.

  13. this is quite small, but can anybody have their ideas on what happened to the snake that was originally supposed to be in the jungles?

  14. I've played about 20 hours of this game and haven't yet run into a tree stump! That's what I get for going too slow and careful. Their existence might invalidate my suggestion, yes.
    1 point
  15. Ooohhh why didn't I think of that?! That'd be perfect! Although Ankylosaurus is still cuter ;3 But I could never say no to the option of +1 strength +1 defense and +1 smelling as opposed to the Ankylosaurus +2 defense +2 smelling.

  16. yeah I know, it would need a very precise color coordination to still fit with the overll game aestetics if it is even possible at all but when I read this post it was the first thing that came to mind so why not share it

  17. Here's an old suggestion back before even the mountain update, so it's pretty outdated, but I'm too lazy to (completely) fix it up. I made another.. Suggestion.. With all of my old suggestions, but I've decided to split them up so they could be voted on separately. So, here it is. Goats- stick near high ground, are less common then rabbits but get more common the more high ground there is (How about instead of that, they spawn on the mountains?). Has the same movement as rabbits and drops 5 food. There are male and female goats- Males have horns and can deal 2 damage to a nicheling that attacks it. Females can move faster than males (2 tiles instead of 1). takes 2 hits to take out (Let's just say it has 15 health or so), if there is just one it will run, if there are multiple they would stay and try to attack as they think they are stronger than the nichelings. (Could possibly be called Geep, Shoat, or something similar, as it could be a Goat/Sheep hybrid)Baby goats- spawn after turn if a male and female goat are near each other. only give 2 food but are easier to get. Stick near older goats and don't spawn that often (Perhaps they grow up in 3 or 5 turns and randomly become one of the genders?)..

  18. In my favorite tribe (the Kikonokos), we have some pretty weird Bluebirds. First of all, there's three of them. Two of them are friends... ...and two are enemies. (Bluebird Battles!) And now they're circling a tree. What's going on with these three?? Meanwhile, the Stagmoles are having parties because these birds don't seem to care about them. Note: THESE ARE ALL THE SAME BLUEBIRDS. I think they're becoming more civilized because they live above 28 (Yes, 28, I overbred) Nichelings with some weird naming traditions.

  19. But what would be the point of it? Yeah, maybe it could be used for role-playing purposes like making a food pile, but at a survival standpoint, it doesn't do anything---you might as well put it in the food stores so your creatures can eat it.

  20. I think full out structures are a bit much but burrows might be cool.

  21. oh... and I thought the goldleach was a goldfish leach hybrid and the razorhana a razorfish piranha mix anyways, how about naming them Geep or Shoat (Sheep&Goat) because if they were part sheep they would basically be the same but with more wool, wich would help on the mountains though there are enough varied creatures on the mountains already

  22. I love this idea! And I also have something to add on to that. -when a mother nicheling and a baby nicheling are in the same nest the mother will occasionally lick the child

  23. I don't see this being a thing in Niche. Doesn't fit the way I see Niche. I can't imagine nichelings building human-like strucktures. More like a Spore thing
    1 point
  24. Good idea, and it would make sense, but I'm just not sure how it will work with Niche... But maybe this can fit if Niche will have more this kind of elements like scruff carrying... I think it could maybe be like this: Baby animals can't pick it and drop it. Just adult animals can. And if you pick it when it's not fullgrown, it would never grow up. And you can't place the carrot back to its growing hole. It would be fun to see nicheling holding carrot in its mouth. Especially with bearyena snout. XD Maybe just some snouts would have the picking ability?

  25. Currently, you start with 2 creatures, and 20 food. So... 10 food per creature.

  26. maybe you can pick them up and drop them in different places so that you can make a cluster of them? this would great for farming because you could for example move them to an area where the bunnies have difficulty getting to them, like a cluster of rocks or a small island in the middle of nowhere

  27. Perhaps also tail movements like wagging or twitching? I noticed the other day that I can barely see my nichelings' tails unless I position the camera directly overhead.

  29. A new body gene that would implement symbiotic relationships with other organisms.( Inspired by the relationship between sloths and algae) There are two variations: (I will talk about the second one in another post) The first one is a really hairy body with pointy hairs. These nichelings have a relationship with small creeping algae like plants that grow on their back. They have no plants on them when they are babies, but it starts growing on them once they have 2 gems and start fruiting once they have 3 gems. These nichelings essentially become walking berry bushes, and other creatures can gather the berries from them. They also attract berry eating creatures. Their symbiotic plant works like a berry bush and it can be replenished by standing in water, but the berries dont grow if the water is too deep and they grow slower if their host is unhealthy. Nichelings with this body can hold up to 5 berries. Edit: This could be perfect for savannah and mountain islands, but it does not give any climate resistance.

  31. This idea is great as a toggle able idea. Dodomingo chicks sound so cute!

  32. Another thing I think would be cool is permanent underwater nests. If the water is going to become a biome of its own, which it often is, I think more food and predators should definitely be added, as well as nests. For the nests, I'd think they'd be like coral-ish with little kelp fronds or something with rock!

  37. 🐍🦎Pythadillo lizard: Pythadillo lizard is a combination of a ball python and an armadillo lizard. They spawn from perchable trees in the savannah, swamp and jungle, like acacia trees and mangroves, as well as spiky grass in the swamp Movement: Pythadillo lizards move during the day and night, with 4 moves each, with them only moving for 5 days at a time, then settle in to a spot for another 5 days Habitat: Pythadillo lizards live in the savannah, swamp and jungle biomes Predators: Nichelings, Bluebirds(can't be grabbed in a burrow, a tree or in water) Bandit bird also apes are afraid of it Hunting: When you attack it, it curls up into a ball with high defense. Also if it sees you before you attack, it will curl up, which will increase it's defense. It can also bite your nichelings for 3 damage, and will not hesitate to attack nichelings that come within striking range for said 3 damage and a 30% possibility to inflict bleeding and they give 20 food when killed, it is not recommended to tag along a 1 or 2 gem nicheling due to its coiling ability, but it will prevent it from fighting back, however it will gain it's superb 7 defense and still retain its spikiness when coiled around prey, it can also violently swing its tail and spike nearby predators, causing bleed(this is aoe and has an extended range of 1 extra tile) Diet: They are strict carnivores and will eat almost any small animal, mostly bunnils, insects(like flies),stagmoles, baby bearyena and 1-2 gem nichelings(paralyzes then one shots them three turns after, regardless of defense) also even if their prey retreats into their burrow, they enter it, kill and eat the prey, then stay in the burrow for 5 days until more food comes by the burrow in a 6 hexagon radius, if not, they will leave and move elsewhere Statistics: 3 sight 4 smelling 1 hearing 3 attack 2 speed 3 swimming 5 stealth 2 scentless 2 spikyness 2 defense, 7 when curled up or coiling climbing(can climb and hide in trees and climb on top and over rocks/cliffs, meaning yes your babies aren't safe now) lifespan: 75 days reminder: this animal will also be invisible in a burrow or a tree, making it hard to pinpoint its location, it can also move through and hide in jungle foliage and the spiky grass in the swamp(without taking damage) the mechanics of this animal are similar to the skunkadillo made by Lilytuft Currently struggling to create art for this guy

  38. That's a wonderful idea! I want to have more play modes and that way it would be much easier Also I would really love to see a "blind genes" mode (that you can activate and desactivate) where you can never see the genes of your nichelings (to make the game more interesting) but you're able to actually see the family tree and change the nichelings' names.

  39. Yes, either a bit less than +4 or maybe +4 but they only work when swooping and not when attacking normally.
