I'd think there would still be a "I need food. Must take risk" factor for the rouges so not 100% fail safe, but a definite warning. (Also rouges with little smelling may miss the scent.) Good suggestion!2 points

please suggest better names for these, I wanted to call Live Birther 'Mamillian' but pretty much every other species lays eggs so there wouldn't be a good matching name for Egg Layer These genes would need an additional slot just for them.Live Birther is more common than Egg Layer. Neither gene appears in the mutation menu. Live Birther: The Nicheling gives birth the same way it does now. Dominant to Egg Layer. Egg Layer: When a female is mated with, she will be 'pregnant'. The female, regardless of pregnancy duration (more about that later) can go to a nest and lay her eggs at any time, including the day she is impregnated. When the pregnant-with-eggs female stays on a nest overnight, she will lay an egg (or two, if it's twins). The egg will hatch the next day in Story mode, and equal to the Pregnancy Duration in Sandbox mode (ex. Pregnancy Duration is 3 days, egg hatches after 3 days). The egg will stay in the nest until it hatches overnight, making the noise of a baby when they are normally born, and will appear as though they were live birthed; for special effects, you could do a hatching noise then the baby cry, along with some egg shells strewn about in the nest that disappear after a day. After hatching, the baby will act exactly like a live-birthed baby would. This gene is recessive to Live Birther. Ideas for what the egg could look like: -just white -randomly white or brown -baby's horn color -similar to baby's fur and pattern (and colors) this suggestion is like an alternate version of this suggestion, so please vote for it if you'd rather it be a Sandbox setting than a gene:1 point

SkySplash seems to be doing a good job. You have two berry bushes and one tree, so you can support about 6 nichelings (2 per bush and 2 per tree). The island you're on isn't bad in itself. You would just need to find more berry bushes.1 point

Name Honeyfish Gender She-cat (female) Pic I haven't colored her yet, but she is a light honey (hence her prefix) with white splotches all over, which includes a white muzzle, white belly, and the bottom third of her tail is also white. Her eyes are amber. Her tail naturally parts into two long wisps of fur, which forms a sort of fish tail, hence her suffix. Backstory She doesn't have much of a backstory. She has a mate, Queror (it's Latin for "to complain', he complains a lot). Honeyfish is a warrior, but she fell in love with Queror, a (sorta snooty) kittypet. They have three kits whom I haven't drawn yet. Queror visits Honeyfish and the kits at the camp (the Clan knows about it) every couple of days. Personality Optimistic, easily scared by things, trusts easily, doesn't easily see other's flaws and focuses on their strengths, extroverted, friendly1 point

Gems hold a very significant role for nichelings, both physically and in the species' general culture for several reasons. 1. They are considered the primary container/anchors of the individuals' soul/memories/experiences etc. Hence gaining more gems as they progress through life. In the event that a nicheling manages to live an exceptionally long life they have been said to grow a fourth gem. This isn't something that happens often and is usually a precursor to them ascending into a deity or other supernatural entity. 2. On a related note, deities and the like have five or more gems that aren't actually connected to their bodies except for when they are disguising themselves as mortals. Instead they just sort of orbit free-floating around their neck/chest area. 3. They are considered the deities gift to nicheling kind and are w.hat allows them to have the ability to adapt and prosper to nearly every environment. This includes random sudden genetic mutations. 4. On a darker note various murderers, tyrants etc. have been known to collect the gems of their victims, or even wear them. There are a few different reasons why a nicheling would do this (As a show of power, to terrify and demoralize enemies, to serve as a twisted reminder of their victories, etc ). This is of course considered a very, very taboo practice in most nicheling societies at least as of the time period where most of my imagined characters/tribes are alive. 5. According to some tales there is also a way to do this that imprisons the spirits of the deceased, binding them to the will of the thief where they are used as a power/energy source or a forced supernatural servant. This is viewed as a particularly monstrous and unforgivable thing to even attempt, said to be practiced by several of the most infamous villains and monsters of history and folklore 6. All that being said it, isn't unheard of for say, founders, leaders, hero's, and the like to willingly give one or more gems to their tribe, where they are viewed as sacred by the future members. Having the gem of an ancestor around (so long as it was willingly gifted) is believed to help anchor their spirit so they can more easily watch over and guide those that come after them. These individuals are known as Guardian Spirits. Wow that turned out longer than I expected, oops.1 point
