  1. @wolfhowlmay Currently, yes. But we'll maybe also add the option to choose the starting age or (again maybe!) even make the starting creatures customizable The only estimated time frame currently is Q1 2019 for the customizable sandbox update.

  3. IS THAT WHAT I THINK IT IS?? CUSTOMIZABLE CREATURE AGES? HHHHHHHHHHHHHH On an unrelated side note: I’ve been oddly obsessed with Super Smash Brothers lately

  4. What's funny is that all of these starters were on the whale island.... and all the screenshots were taken at nearly the same angle each time... coincidence? I think not

  5. Chapter 1 - Origins Our story starts with these two cats, the left being Briarsong and the right being Nightstar. Nightstar wants to have a best friend and mate from an enemy clan, and he also wants to kill a cat. Briarsong wants to train an apprentice into a warrior, to master the skill of fighting, and to convince an outsider to join the clan. She is rather short tempered and snappy, as well as very loyal. When she finds out about Nightstar's wishes, she'll surely kick him out by force, even if he's a leader. Today, two wanderers have been found while Nightstar and Briarsong were setting up camp with the help of their daughter, Specklesplash. Briarsong has fulfilled her wish of convincing an outsider to join the clan. These two outsiders have been named Weaselskip (red one) and Branchclaw (spiky body.) Weaselskip wants to convince multiple outsiders to join the clan, and to become a medicine cat. He is rather charming and friendly. Meanwhile, Branchclaw wants to leave the clan and start a different one and to find a mate for life. She is a master hunter. Specklesplash wants to master the fighting, hunting, and fishing skills to prove herself. She also wants to kill multiple cats for some reason. Possibly to rise to power? She also wishes to hunt on enemy territory. Perhaps she wants to master all those skills to fool her clan into thinking she's a good, loyal warrior. (By the way, if you are wondering, yes, I am using the console. I'm purely using it to have an easier time setting up. I'll get rid of it later.) ThornClan has finished setting up their camp today. Meanwhile, Branchclaw thanks the cats for their hospitality, but leaves, claiming what she wants to do in life lays outside the clan. In the meantime, Nightstar and Briarsong decide to mate to provide more kits for ThornClan. Weaselskip has busied himself with removing the toxic berry bushes to protect future kits. Briarsong has given birth to a kit she has named Cherryspots, but at the same moment a bearyena decides to attack the clan. Weaselskip, the clan's strongest warrior, and Nightstar, the second strongest, jump in to protect the queen and her kit. Cherryspots is an optimistic and opportunistic cat. She will be a master fisher (I'll edit her genes for that), and she will also be a rebel. Quite a spunky she-cat, I would say! And after this, the file broke! Thanks console commands, I knew I could(n't) count on you! Should've backed up the file. and also just killed the bearyena with console.

  6. Today I made some emojis for our Nimbatus Discord and thought, hey why not make an emoji for each person on the team while I'm at it Doing this was so much fun xDD @Markus @Roger @ArnoJ @Philo @inmiu @Micha got 2! And this is our sound designer, Claudio

  7. It's literally day two and I already have an ape two tiles away from my starters this is going to be fun

  8. One time, I just kept using the console commands nonstop and my game... just... exploded with bugs pretty much. So the first thing that happened was I had creatures that were able to move around endlessly but not explore shaded tiles (tiles you can't see from a distance) Also, the glitch when you use the command "ExploreAllFields" to where you can't see through the patches of regrowing grass even if you are sitting next to them

  9. me, reading this topic: aha! this look fun! rules: no console! only natural!! me:

  10. So I found this wanderer sitting right next to a mole (and what looks like he is in the mole's vision range) and the mole never went back down into its hole. Maybe this should be fixed? At this point so many wanderers get away with so many things... like one gemmed babies having a frenzy and walking around more tiles in total than my entire tribe could even match

  11. Please do make the starting creatures customizable. One time I started in a cold biome and the game gave me heat resistance. In a cold biome. Also, do you think you could make the console less buggy? Like, just remove the forever dawn thing where the game's stuck loading a new day and I'll be happy. I know you're not supposed to use the console it's just that sometimes it's annoying having to constantly stress over how longer you have left to live to set up a thing in your file. Also, recommendation for the console: Ability to give your creatures infinite energy.

  12. These guys were okay by themselves. It's more about luck after the starters for me, though. (Horns, claws, one cracker jaw, digging paw and no big ears, guaranteed fluffy tail = good mountain starters in my book). Their first two children were compatible, full fluffy tail and eyesight. But the island itself was also amazing. Great layout, enough nests around trees with much food. Met a creature with double big body on day 6 and a lady with poison fangs, purr snout, rec. Big body and rec. Scorpion tail not too much later. She was also compatible with the best nicheling, who had rec. poison fangs, scorpion tail and active big body. That was somewhat a miracle to me, as his mother had very questionable genetics, yet passed on only her best to this guy: A dream came true as my next generation of mountain starters... who had 1/8 th of blood on him and none on her of the original ones. Also met her infertile sister And this lady a bit too late. Oh, well (Took a detour in breeding goals as one of my females had two cubs with a bearyena, but couldn't find it again. These guys all have on rec. Bearyena gene to breed in and unlock).

  13. @Snowy Owl Currently, it would be both. And also the Rogue Males But maybe it makes sense to add seperate options for them?

  14. sad, but as long as the console does not bug out the game i might use it. also the age thing is it only our nichelings or the wanderers to?
    3 points
  15. @Snowy Owl Nope, these settings are defined at the start of the game and will remain the same. What you suggest sounds like a thing we could consider adding for the console
    3 points
  16. @Philo will we be able to change the sandbox settings, in game to? like you want your nichelings to have longer or shorter lifespans as you play.

  17. This was one of the first ones I wrote that was instant magic. I tried to edit it and clean it up, but I couldn't even touch it without damaging it. It just came out right. This was written in response to this prompt: "You run a night school for assassins. The other professional assassins loathe you for turning customers into self-sufficient killers. You would get frustrated by their constant attempts on your life, if they didn’t make for such good lessons for your students…" Timid Reaper I strode across to the podium, before the diagram of the human skeleton and circulatory system. The class was small, ten people. I found it to be my optimum class size. Any more and my students began to look like a forest, not trees. Any less, and I might have trouble with my payments. “Well? Anybody?” One tentative hand rose up. She was a slip of a girl. Her demeanor was timid, her hand trembling in the air. None of her classmates took her seriously. They were new, yet. Not all of them quite realized that I wasn’t here to teach them how to fight, but how to kill. Ellen’s ‘fragile flower’ act would serve her well. Behind her, Ross put his hand up. He was what most people thought of when they thought of an assassin. Quiet, self-assured, quick on his feet and quick with his hands, able to switch between a fight and an innocent demeanor in a heartbeat, agile and strong. His assurance would probably betray him this time; it would be a good lesson. “Ross.” “Under the armpit. The gate through the ribs to the heart.” I had taught them this last week. It was an easy way to the heart in the heat of combat, but that wasn’t what I had asked for. “Very good. You’re almost right. If you were in a fight, it would probably be your way in. But the shortest clean path is elsewhere.” Ellen’s hand was still up. I pointed to call on her when the hair on the back of my neck stood up. I opened my hand flat, calling for silence. It came from the window. Of course, it came from the window, it’s why I held class in a room with a window. I stepped back from the inevitable assault. Something whisked through the air, and severed strands of hair swirled in the air before me. Several projectiles flew right back in the opposite direction, crossbow loaded tangles linked to the threads strung across the glass. They would hold him for a few brief seconds. I closed my palm to point at Ellen once more. “Ellen. Step up.” “M-me?” She looked around, playing it to the hilt. The attacker rushed at me – nobody remained calm when I decided my class was more important than their attempt on my life. The girl I called was obviously nothing, beneath his notice. I leaned back as a blade licked out at my eyes – my counterstroke was at his wrist, but his blade twisted in his hand, and I struck the steel pommel. I wove my blade through the air, passing in and out of striking positions. I struck where I saw weakness, and where I saw strength, I used the threat to force him to react. Finally, I led him into risk by giving him an opportunity too good to pass up. His blade struck me in the upper arm as I caught his elbow. I bent his arm backward into dislocation. I stomped on the side of his bent leg, shattering the tibia and fibula. With his good arm pulled up behind his back, I looked at Ellen. “You had a different answer, Ellen? Show me.” She strode forward without hesitation, without any of her typical timidness. She knew that the incapacitation of pain wouldn’t last long, and this man was still dangerous. She pulled her hairpin out, a few inches long at most. Her hair fell to her knees, and for a moment, fanned out like a black wing. She carefully positioned the steel spike at the top of his collarbone and slid it straight down into his heart. I pressed my fingers to his neck until his pulse quieted, then stood and let the dead weight drop. “While I did teach you how to go through the armpit in combat, never assume there isn’t a better answer. The shortest open path from the skin to the heart is three inches, from behind the collarbone.” “Now for your next lesson . . . ” I began pulling my shirt off. I could feel the wetness of the blood from the stab wound I had taken, and the burning that spread down my arm. I cast the shirt aside and looked at the red lines creeping toward my fingers. This lesson wouldn’t have been possible if he’d struck a vein instead of an artery. “Open your pharmacology books to page one hundred and twenty-five. You’re going to identify and neutralize this poison.”

  18. Same goes for how wanderers don’t get eaten by meat-eating plants, but as far as I’m aware bearyenas and apes attack them.

  21. Does this mean if you increase the length of time a creature is a baby/teen they're going to spawn in to the game as such? (reading this back sounds confusing, i mean if you change the ages and then go into the game, are your first two creatures going to spawn in as kids/teens?)

  22. Nice. Btw, I also have and play shelter 2, and if you're ever suspicious of something, just call to your kittens. If your meow comes out as a hiss, look around for danger. In the case you described, you were most likely in range of a bear, or being stalked by a fox. You know when a fox is there if you hear twigs snapping, and for bears, the music will stop and become frightening to put you on edge. Use your scent view if you have to know if danger is there. Also, be careful during rain. Fires can start if you're in the right place. But sometimes they start out of nowhere. You'll know they've started if the sky suddenly goes super dark and the music stops. During fires, don't run, just walk around them. I learned this the hard way. In the tundra, btw, you can sacrifice bunnies to wolves if you have them. Simply place a dead rabbit on the ground, and when the wolves come, they'll take it instead of your kits. Btw, keep watch of bear for me, will you? That was the name of one of my old kits who got snatched by a glitchy fox who came out of the water.

  24. It never made sense to me that blind Nichelings were virtually useless when lots of species are completely blind, like some kinds of moles and fish that live in dark places. I suggest a few different options: A new, cave-like or underground biome would be added. In this biome, the blind creatures roam freely with the use of scent and hearing. Who knows, maybe the Vision button would be disabled on this island to make the regular-eyed Nichelings at a disadvantage. Blind eyes would give the Echolocation ability, allowing the blind Nicheling to move freely. The Echolocation screen would be added to the toggleable senses, where it looks like smelling or hearing. Maybe blind creatures would also become nocturnal? The blind Nicheling is free to move while any of the toggleable senses, except sight, are activated. Tell me which one you like best, and which one you think might actually be implemented in the game. Thanks for reading

  25. Hey pack More and more people are using the console. That's cool because if gives you more stuff to play around with. But we're also receiving sooo many emails with bug reports and in the end, it pretty much always turns out that the problem was console related ^^' So we're now considering to run a console fixing session What bugs would you want fixed?

  26. I'm assuming he spawned up there or something? Cause I don't think they can just waltz their way up the tree and be able to perch up all high and mighty and away from the apes... angerly stares at the ape in the background

  30. When I'm messing around w/ the console, it's always super annoying (and scary, considering the forever dawn glitch), to have to skip the day when I want to do something with my nichelings after they've gone to sleep. I have a proposal to fix this: changeenergyammount <insert number here> / changeenergycount <number> / giveenergy <number> / something else! Using this command, you can give you nichelings more energy or less energy at will. (changeenergyammount You can also abuse this by doing giveenergy 9999 or smth. I just wanna not have to go through 100s of days just to move a tribe somewhere.

  35. please yes, make it separate because i don't want a rogue male to live longer, or any wanderer in general.

  37. I have a lot of pretty children, but here's to the prettiest adult female in the tribe! Yellow/orange fur and blue eyes is a wonderful combination. She doesn't have any children herself, but she is a medicine cat! Update: Most of her tribe left for the Swamp and then Savanna, leaving Koreme and several others behind to start a new tribe. That wandering tribe has since perished.

  38. LOOK I DID AN ART THAT I'M REALLY PROUD OF! born with the first heat body in this tribe, and he was the first born with the scorpion tail in this tribe, all coming out of nowhere. And he is also the mentor to all messengers. (I have quite a few messengers XD)

  39. Allright, since I couldn't decide, I made an extra save. One first, two second and three third places for these. I liked this back best: But also love this sort of mask. Golden flames were still my favourite. So Isis was the Herald of Flames for this former mountain tribe and my submission.
