  1. Disclaimer: My knowledge of what's in the game so far is based on the pre-alpha build, Lathland's videos, and the patch notes. I would appreciate any youtube videos that go in depth at what the closed alpha has added. I would like to suggest a part that, when activated, is treated as the current location of the cursor. Either that or have directional sensors and weapons able to be set to aim at it. Basically, it would be like the camera block, but for the cursor instead of the camera. I see it being able to be used for sticking onto a target so that weapons can auto-aim or just placed at a location for a drone with a direction sensor to fly towards. And if you don't have distance sensors able to detect the cursor yet, that might be a good idea to implement along with this.

  4. Hello! Recently, I've noticed that there is a flaw in hunting stagmoles. You know, the moles in the burrows. For purposes of demonstration, let me introduce you to Rameana. a beautiful product of nature Because of her small body and horns, Rameana has a total of 1 strength. The problem is, she really wants to eat a stagmole. she yearns for the meat There is one problem though. Because of her strength, Rameana cant murder it. Technically she can, trying to kill it with the orange symbol, but there is no guarantee. I suggest it is like bunnies. Sure, to kill them in one hit you'd need a creature with 2 strength, but a creature with 1 can already hit them, killing them the second time they do. Of course, with stagmoles they would still turn so you'd have to be a bit more precise with timing, but this way, Rameana could follow her dream to become a stagmole hunter. justice for 1 strength creatures

  5. The sound of crackling flames and the smell of smoke are pretty alarming to most wild animals. This should be reflected in the game by flames that show red to both senses.

  6. Seas! Grammatik? Is ned soo schlimm solange der Sinn erhalten bleibt. Bin a von dort 👍 Yeah, i know it's annoying. But there are more important things right now that need attention.

  7. Kein Problem, wir sind aus der Schweiz. Unser Englisch ist auch nicht perfekt Thank you for noticing. It's annoying for sure and I think we know a way to fix it (was discussed in the Testing Simulation, where it also often happens). We have to fix it eventually, but I'm not sure when we have time to work on that, because of other priorities It's noted on our Bug-List. Thank you for reporting it and thank you for linking Nimbatus. If you have any feedback, please tell us about it

  8. Here is the reason why I don't like the jungle: once you have adapted to the apes nothing else ever happens. If you know what you are doing it is boring (yes in a way that is the same with every island but I feel that very strongly with the jungle) because the apes don't bother you anymore, the bearyenas (if there are any) don't really bother you and if you have breed really strong creatures again nothing really is a danger to your creatures anymore. In my opinion nothing surprises you. You don't even have bunnies or something on the pure jungle islands. Just stinky fruits, carnivurours plants and apes. In the mountains for example there is always the challenge of hunting walrus deer and they move when you move so that's pretty cool. You have winters which can be hard because of the lack of food and the snow not to mention the cold, balance bears and for me they strike the perfect balance between to strong (apes) and to weak (bearyena). You have bunnies all over the place and depending on the island moles. I just need a lot of variety in my islands and I feel like the jungle doesn't give that, though I admit it looks cool I mean I hate the jungle but I don't really want to hate on the jungle if that makes any sense XD

  9. but Niche is about genetics and not about any mythological and open for debate things like afterlife a lot of people rp it like the ancestors are guiding the tribe and some ascend to godhood -I do too- but I think these things should only come from the player side and not from any game mechanics. in wildlife, dead is dead. and game mechanics wise it would feel a bit cheaty if one of your females got attacked by a rouge but don't worry, you can just let the baby be your deceased favourite instead however, I would like if you could 'save' a handful of your favourites and have them have a rare chance to spawn/reincarnate as wanderers. custom name included

  10. we have shield bubbles to give a shield but what about repairing? it would make sense if (or example) a shield bubble uses a lot of energy and has a smaller diameter.

  11. Hi all! This is the first time making a suggestion so here goes. Many animals feed on insects so why not nichelings? Potential food sources could be the bug swarms already in game, logs, and termite mounds. Logs would be found in grasslands and maybe jungles too. They would function like berry bushes, yielding a certain ammount of insect food and replenishing their supplies overnight. Termite mounds would be found in the savannah and can be cracked open, respawning two days after initially being destroyed. Like carnivorous plants, they can spawn as hostile or non-hostile. Non-hostile termite mounds can be cracked open and gathered from safely. When a nicheling gathers from or cracks open a hostile termite mound, they will be swarmed. The termite swarm must be licked off by another nicheling before the day ends or the nicheling will be bitten and take damage. I have designed an insectivore head inspired by anteaters and pangolins. I call it the Sticky Tongue! I imagine it would give 3+ insect collecting and 3+ smell. And perhaps the beak gene could give 2+ insect collecting.

  13. I have a tribe that has survived for over 1500 days now, and the plan for when I created them was to send them to the jungle. They had spent a whole load of time in jungle islands, and i've learned to love that type of biome. It's easy enough to keep them alive if you know what you're doing. At one point, I was fed up with hiding from the apes and my creatures were going to be the ones to rule the jungle. I bred some really strong creatures to sit under each ape spawning tree and destroy each ape that dared to step foot on the jungle floor. I soon noticed that once you kill two apes, it seems to take a little longer for another to spawn. While my warrior families are waiting for their ape, they go around destroying carnivorous plants for our collectors so there's a chance they'll go back green. I often see people complaining about the jungle, and i'm very surprised about that.

  14. What is your favourite island type? Mine is Archipelago, because I love the way you can create different cultures on different islands, and have different types of nichelings. I have an island for winged nichelings, one for Derp snouted creatures, one for bearyena hybrids, etc. I love how you can essentially have multiple games in one huge island type, and how there is so much space for underwater creatures. What do you think?

  15. Maybe make a Docking block, like the disconnector but it disconnects/connects two seperate parts when both have these blocks, at least one of the blocks is activated and the docking blocks of both are touching/near eachother

  16. Suggestion: Ability to use camera trackers for split screen Reasoning: One of the interesting ideas I've had while drone designing is the realization that there is nothing stopping me from having a friend help control my drone. I could very well let my friend handle navigating the drone with a USB controller while I handle the weapons with a mouse and keyboard. I could even just make a drone that decouples into two drones, one controlled by me and the other by my friend. And then I realized I would need a way to make sure that me and my friend could see both of our decoupled parts of the drone at the same time. And I guess other people might find it useful for multitasking between multiple decoupled drone sections.

  17. But the current one works better with multiple generations and different mates and different mates from different generations

  18. Peaceful Meadow and Oasis. Both are really conducive to telling stories with the way I play.

  19. I figured that you could handle it the same way you handle multiple camera blocks (the camera is able to point to a specific one of those right?), just having it work with where the weapons and sensors think the cursor is instead of where the camera should go. I could even see using camera blocks as a watered down version of this if the view wouldn't move ahead of the block during movement and the player left the cursor in the middle of the screen. In the pre-alpha, I can even use the drone brain for a watered down version of that watered down version. I wouldn't be surprised if you implement my suggestion by just taking the camera block and giving it a toggle that lets it act as the cursor location instead of the location for the camera to track. Maybe even have it able to be set to different channels so that sensors and weapons could be set to point at different ones (with the default being either the cursor or the drone brain).

  20. I think the mountains or something like Grass Adventure, Grass Mingle oh and the Oasis. I just love the way you can specialze on fishing and cracking nuts in the Oasis and especially in the first few days/ generations it is really exiting to try to survive. The mountains are just cool in general. I love snow and the walrus deer are cool and just the mountains are awesome And Grass Mingle/ Adventure that have very good role playing potential

  21. Rameana needs to find her a big strong mate to kill her a stagmole. Every time she makes an effort, there is always a chance she'll get it! And it will only take one swipe. That's just the way it is with stagmoles, you get one shot only!

  22. Nah, I’m totally with you @seahorsepie. I’ve had my fair struggles against the apes, but now I really enjoy taking them down. I also love the jungle for my life purposes as well. With all of the things to keep track of and wildlife, there’s tons of things that can happen and make for great stories.

  23. Since my creatures do end up changing from what the save file name says they should be, I decided to just come up with random save file names. Usually i'll just use a recent inside joke so it's somewhat unique and i'll be able to remember which is which.

  24. My all time favourite has to be the Deep Jungle, since my favourite tribe originally kept travelling from jungle island to jungle island. The Deep Jungle is just so big and so full of life, and it is easy enough to survive in if you came prepared. So jungle islands are definitely my favourite, but some others that I like are Whale Island, Deadly Hills, Grass Mingle and Home Island.

  26. Eeee! Particularly excited for the scruff carrying, caves and creature creator mode, but I think all of them are great additions!! Also looking forwards to the challenge mode- once you get a stable population and immunity system, you’re good. But this will make it so cool! I’m imagining it to be like a notification that says something along the lines of: ”What was that? A tremor ran through the island.” and end up being like: ”The island is no longer stable and is falling apart!” Sooooooo excited for this! 😆😆😆

  27. I agree with @Sheireen. Maybe when it pops up again (they do that, right? I forgot), the stagmole will still have the damage from before, so if Rameana hit it again, it would die. Also, if it died from poison while in its hole, maybe you could dig it up with Digging ability. Rameana would finally be able to taste the sweet taste of stagmole

  28. I never drank enough salt water to actually feel sick but it makes you more thirsty, also it tastes really horrible, still think there should be a debuff for it
    1 point
  29. I like the idea, but we would have to make a differentiation between salt water and river water. Drinking salt water would either make your creatures sick (not spreadable) or something else to show that drinking salt water is bad.

  31. how about instead of using lots of energy, it uses resources (not from your stash, but collected and still onboard your drone)?
    1 point
  32. I think that idea is very interesting and would be a convenient way to get rid of unwanted nichlings. However, it might also be a bit op since the issues that come along with overcrowding are meant to be one of the challenges of expanding your pack. I think there should be a price in food for sending a nichling away since it takes time to find new food on the island. Since you start with 2 nichlings and 20 food, having 10 food per nichling sent away makes sense, though that would be a heavy price, but if you have a useless nichling that would just be a food sink for all its life, that price might be worth it. It would also be cool if, when you send a creature away to an island and then travel to that island later, you could see that nichling there!

  34. Okay, this is a half made idea, but we can expand on it. Here's my suggestions: Mouse Snout Further smelling, like, 3. Mole holes themselves are lit up even when a mole is not present, and are a different color. Roots are also a different color from just green. Unlockable by either: 1) Digging 100 times. 2) Killing 50 moles. 3) Digging 50 times and killing 50 moles. Hope this can help you expand! Also, a mouse snout would be so cute! I hope we can take this idea to new heights!

  35. But it would just be much faster to kill them right after they're born in the nest wouldn't it? No need to move them or anything, and they won't eat your food either while you're trying to drown them or wait for a predator to arrive. It just takes too long in my opinion, especially if you don't want them at all. It's extra resources. You click a button, boom, that's it.

  36. Maybe when you fish with a fishingtailed creature on the shore, it dips it's tail in the water?
    1 point
  37. Perhaps also tail movements like wagging or twitching? I noticed the other day that I can barely see my nichelings' tails unless I position the camera directly overhead.

  38. Nice idea! I like especially that sleeping idea I hope that I'll see some of these in Niche someday!

  39. Perhaps the Sticky Tongue could also eat bug swarms? They might not be worth much food, as getting rid of them is reward enough.
    1 point
  40. I love that idea! I think it would really help bring the nichelings to life even more and add to the overall charm of the game. Maybe a nicheling's tail could swish side to side occasionally, I think that would be cute to see

  41. That brings up another point I am sometimes annoyed by creatures with double no paw never starve. No wanderer starves or is eaten by a meat eating plant (not sure if they changed that yet). I also didn't mean that wanderers should only have three energy points. I can see how that would be hard to implement. I simply meant that they should move according to their speed stat, so babies should only move on tile when you make a move and not shoot across the island like flash. Are wandering babies eaten by the bluebird yet? If not that should be added as well.

  42. I would like more idle animations for nichelings, but I think they would have to be simple. Complex animations might not work well since nicheling models are static, but simple animations like ear twitching, nose licking and yawning would be perfect. A sleeping animation might even be possible, since it would only activate after a nicheling uses up all of their turns.
    1 point
  43. I think small idle movements would be good, but no walking animations and such. It would be odd for niche's style in my opinion. Plus, think of the times you can spam the walk buttons. How would the walking animation cope? But, I love the suggestion! Upvote my friend!

  44. I really really like the idea of permitting the drill to collect resources. I'm not sure range and spread is appropriate, since they're supposed to be contact weapons, but digging and energy use are absolutely candidates.
