  2. Well, my walrus deer sometimes run of into the water which is super annyoing and they also defend themselves when you surround them on every tile with a Nicheling so maybe their fear stat isn't so high because of that? Ram foxes can be quite dangerous for weak, isolated Nichelings as Random Wanderer said

  3. Could we get an option for factory parts that toggles whether the parts attached to them will be there when the mission starts? Some of the autonomous things that I want to print with factory blocks have thrusters on them and I would appreciate being able to just not have them there until I'm ready to print and release rather than releasing them underneath the Nimbatus or trying to fly with them still attached.

  4. Well, this was what I thinked after watching some of jessimew's videos. The walrus deer just walk into the nicheling's greedy paws and no matter how many times they are attacked, they keep coming back! Do they have a fear stat? Why do they tend towander into nichelings? Also, what goes trough the mind of the ramfoxes? They dont seem to be too fierce, Its as if they only liked hunting bunnies.

  5. Hopefully I'm not restating something someone else said (and hopefully you can't actually already do this and I'm just dumb and can't figure out how to do it myself) but I think it would be nice to be able to rename saved games. I always forget to name my saves when creating them and I end up with them all named New Game which is really confusing. Especially since I can't go back and rename them later. Even when remembering to name them, it'd be nice to be able to rename my save to the name of the current biome I'm in or the name of my current pack or something , too, to avoid confusion with my other saves. Sorry if this is already a feature or someone else has already suggested it!

  6. when you are in the galaxy vieuw, its nice and all but it would be sick if the planets where orbiting thier sun, just a small estatic change that would make it look soo much nicer

  7. Quick overnieuw: If you have seen the guardians of the galaxy 2, there is a part in the movie with "quantum meteors" these meteors teleport short distances or "go to the 4th dimension and back" anyway, this would make for a crazy hard planet if the ground coult teleport in its atmosphere and fall back down. in defense of yourself there could also be a new defence mechanism that prevents rocks to spawn in you, its kinda like a shield but "in the 4th dimention" Planet theme: Colors: purle and gray? idk what looks best for this thing Added part: - Quantum shield (defence mechanism that prevents rocks to spawn in you, its kinda like a shield but "in the 4th dimention") - Quantum shooter (shoots bullets temporarely in the 4th dimenstion so it can shoot thru small walls) - Quantum storage transferer (can transfer resources in a short distance) By: Fire209 Extra difficulty: Pieces of the ground teleporting randomly and falling back to other positions Resources: Yellow, red and Maybe a purple resource? Missions: Destroy transmistter (has more protectors and also a 4th dimension protection), Destroy planet? kill the giant monster(3x bigger than the hammerhead and has some special abilities), Destroy the quantum hives (basicly bee hives but pruple and more dangerous and cant travel in 4th dimenstion but can shoot in it) I think it would be sick if this got added to the game, and let me know what you think of this idea If this post has a lot of spell errors, i have dislectia so you know

  8. Anyone remember those old harvester drone-things from the demo? Well, i thought of a possible weapon type/upgrade that essentially creates a tiny drone launcher! It would have different tracking settings (enemies, resources, terrain...), but it would use lots of energy and also fuel. What do you think?

  9. Some people at the steamforums suggested the same, I'll add the following to the discussion: Add a Toggle which decides what is 100%. Settings: Radius, Container, Nimbatus, Drone Brain Add a relative Altimeter, which measures not the distance from the center of the planet, but a raycast to the surface as a guide.

  10. There are quite some wishes for making advanced logic easier. We haven't found a good and satisfactory solution yet, but we definitely have the hardcore logic lovers in our field of view and at least try to find a good solution

  11. I like some of the ideas here, like maybe this purple resource could be used for quantum or spacial-esque upgrades, like as you said, a quantum shield, a short teleport that consumes energy, and other stuff, like maybe a short-range resouce transfer?

  12. By far the most terrifying is the meat eating plant one. A seven tile radius and they wander the island?! Gods help us.

  13. I had to do a project a few years ago about my future job that required an interactive component. I want to be a genetic engineer, so I was trying to find a video game that involved genetics and I stumbled upon the Niche Kickstarter. I was disappointed that the game wouldn’t be out in time for my presentation so I left it. Later, I was recommended a Niche youtube video and soon after found Jessimew and fell in love with the game. I’ve always loved genetics and video games so Niche was the perfect game for me!

  14. I had been wanting to play a game with breeding mechanics for a long time. I just googled games with breeding mechanics. A lot of results were stuff I already played, and like.... it had breeding but that wasn't the main focus of gameplay. Things like pokemon, the chao gardens in sonic adventure 2, final fantasy 7 chocobo breeding, fire emblem awakening It was kind of surprising how few games i could find with breeding at its core. This game was like the only game i could find that came even close to what i wanted, and i am totally satisfied. Also, if the team who made Super Meat Boy ever do finish that cat breeding game called "Mew-genics" you kno i'm totally going to buy it.

  15. Maybe they can't feel pain but are just a little bit skittish. No, but really, it kind of forces your hand to make them that way as a foodsource. But you know that. I keep wondering what they eat in the killer mountains. Those plants for nestern material? The pine trees? That's never going to be enough... Maybe they wait till your nichelings die and eat the corpse. That would explain a thing or three. Wanderers would be their usual supplementary diet, and not strong enough to do much damage on average. Aside from that, there are quite some around, so they reproduce quickly and can take a risk. I'd be nice to have some game-lore. Just some non-nightmare inducing stuff.

  17. How did you find out about Niche? What were your first impressions of it? I found Niche through Seri! Pixel Biologist!'s videos. Niche was on verion 0.0.6 and didn't look very interesting. Still I looked it up on Steam. I was kind of interested, but my sister conveced me that this game was not worth it. My English was really bad at the time, so I tought this was a strange game about genets. (You know, the animal?) That made the game seem really unrealistic to me XD. And so I was left wondering what would happen if you filled an entire island with these strange creatures. Later Seri started making videos about Warrior cats untold tales. I started watching, because I really liked that game. She also had a Niche series called the Jannu tribe. I slowly started to understand it, until I was sure I wanted Niche. I got it during the jungle update and it's one of my favorite games. It has really helped me understand genetics! (but not genets XD)

  18. Immediately at the start of the simulation, any keys/tags bound to "FULL" state are not already set, so any logic that uses this state will think all batteries/tanks are NOT full. Getting around this issue is possible but requires an unreasonable amount of extra logic parts.

  20. Sometimes when I launch the game, everything appears to be running fine, except that when I deploy a drone onto a planet, I cant use my keyboard. I can use my mouse fine, but my keyboard seems to not respond. At first I would just close the game a couple times, then it would randomly go back to working. But today when this happened, I tried to tab out of the window, and realized that there was an error message under the game window, claiming that the game was not responding, when it was actually working fine. I hope this helps anyone else with keyboard problems

  21. In-game, when I go to the workshop to see other people's creations, it displays "unknown" for the authors' names. I didn't notice this until I uploaded one of my drones and started looking around 🍥 Does anyone else have this issue? Or is it just on my end?

  22. Things like Lightning, which electrifies enemies, with very low damage against enemies, but electrified enemies shock nearby enemies, dealing high damage, making it a good croud control weapon. Or Acid, which slowly corrodes away at enemies, with increasing speed the more acid is applied, but again, dealing low amounts of damage in the actual impact of the shot. Possibly even a Magnetic type, which deals decent enough damage but with the added benefit of magnetising any metal enemies, causing them to behave like a magnet part, attracting other metal enemies, broken ship chunks, or meteorites (or even bio barrels if one isnt careful).

  23. I found Niche through Seri, too! Whom I no longer watch! Anyway, I watched her first ten(?) episodes and I already decided I wanted Niche. When I first bought it on Steam, I was absolutely OBSESSED WITH IT. In fact, two years ago, I think about 1/2 of the art I made was all the creatures I came across in Niche. Here's one of them! (It's also up on Steam) I took this photo with my desktop's camera. The resolution is so bad, but I lost the original image so that's all I got. Deal with it. Every day after school I would play Niche, and I grew more interested in it every day. Even though I didn't watch Seri anymore, I still loved playing Niche. It was my favorite game to play (of course, behind THE DOG Island). I had my own stories, my own lore, and my own customs for every tribe. My favorite was a tribe that reached up to 1,000 days and had over 3,000 food! I called it the "Friendly Island" tribe! 😄 But then, one day in late 2017, I got super bored of Niche. I think this was a few months after the game was officially released? I dunno. But what's important is that I got bored of Niche. In fact, at one point, I was forcing myself to play Niche to rack up hours. Y'know, this tatic actually worked, because now I have over 100 hours! I got even more bored after the wings update. I would just check up on my 1,000 days tribe, move some creatures, maybe end the day, and then exit the game. That was all. Then, this Summer, I stopped playing Niche. I think it's in my top 20 favorite games now Oh, wait... You just wanted first impressions, not my entire Niche story. Damn it. Uh, I liked Niche until I didn't. There we go. Also, OH MY GOD I LOVE GENETS THEY'RE MY FAVORITE ANIMAL AHEUFSDYDGTDFY

  24. It's not very good but is a reasonable proof of concept. Not sure I have time to make it work consistently. Think you'd need to have the magnets quickly cascade in switching from repelling to attracting. That only took 45 blocks, so there's some room to make the core into a center seeker after it's attached (or if it doesn't attach). Also could have a bit of anti-carrier precautions, though ultimately this design will have a lot problems with carriers/shields.

  25. Hmm, yes, our idea was indeed that we wanted the player to encourage to build/adapt the drone design. If it does not enough, we have to make the effect stronger Otherwise, yes. you always have to destroy the transmitter again if you restart the mission. You might just "relaunch" a drone, but the planet will be reset every time as well, with that the transmitter and the effect with it Maybe in the future we'll have a more sandbox version/mode where you can setup/configure such things to your liking

  27. Oh, I have an unrelated question by the way! Is there a way to get rid of the "Intercepted Signal" effect which reduces your thrust while flying a drone with more than 25 parts? I know you can find the transmitter on the planet and remove it, but that only works for that try. Meaning that if you die afterwards, you have to crawl to the transmitter again, and it's making my drone so slow! I get that you might want to discourage players from making enormous machines that can clear every mission, but I think the treshold is a bit too low on the effect. That's of course just my opinion though

  36. Lightning should be a weapons, not a element (else it can get too op) Acid, already suggested by other but in a better way, Magnatic, could be done that a small bullet sticks to enemies and then attracts other enemies. So would be cool ideas with slight modifications

  37. So, I've found that weapons decoupled from a factory block do not count for the "Only 1 laser, no other weapons" requirement for the Mega Laser signal. While this is advantageous to my plans for death laser satellites, I feel that it was unintended. Please enjoy this build I used that includes an energy-free laser attached to a factory block. While it is attached to the factory block, it is MEGA. Once released from factory block, it becomes wimpy until the factory block prints another laser. Decouple to make all the lasers wimpy, and print to make them all MEGA. Also, I couldn't find where Nimbatus saves screenshots to, so I just used print screen and Microsoft Paint.

  40. Rogue males mate with pregnant ladies, the friendly neighbourhood bearyena, teens, males, clams and the seagrass, all resulting in the same untraceable notification. Walruus deer eat your creatures whole and leave only the skin behind. Meat eating plants now have a 7 tile radius and wander the island. Food rots after two days. All nests are replaced by dancing apendages every time it rains. Dodomingoes get the respect they deserve and develop into winged rogue ladies. Rabbils steal the shape of your young and drain their lifeblood, replacing them with an infertile copy. All berries are replaced by extra crunchy eyeballs, giving the "existntial despair" debuff (complete with a spelling error).

  41. This has been a topic already. Please don't expect too much, but it was discussed and maybe we can get this functionality back in some form of an optional 'cheat'-mode. Maybe. Eventually. Definitely later 😁

  42. Sounds like a good idea! Maybe it would be a start to make a visual when you mouse over (+shift or ctrl?) a part in the editor so the upgrades are shown.

  43. If a gamer can use logic gates to achieve complex functionality then i think that user can also understand a truth table. If a gamer only manages to create simple logic then they have no need for a truth table. So as i see it there are only 10 people who know how to use it. One either knows logic algebra or not. 😉

  46. I found Niche through JessiMew. It was just randomly suggested to me on YouTube and I watched the vid. I wasn't even subscribed to Jessi back then. Well I was immediatly in love with the game (and with Jessi). It was a no brainer. I binge watched everything from Jessi I could find on it and then convinced my brother to buy it for me and then I played like probably almost a 100 hours in the first week or so (it felt like a lot of time though Steam didn't record any of it due to poor internet) and ever since then it has become my favourite game together with Skyrim and has currently almost 490 hours in my Steam library ^^ At that point I already understood genetics very well and that is a big point why I loved them game so much. I love all the different gene possibilties

  48. Interesting idea. It could be something like a targeting-laser. You can aim at a position and let your smaller drones fly there

  49. So I just thought of an alternative that can avoid the problem of multiple beacons. Basically it would be a part or weapon upgrade/ammo that shoots out a beacon that sticks to whatever it hits, whether it be terrain, an object, or an enemy. Each time it is fired, the previous beacon is lost/destroyed. Maybe have it have outputs for if it is attached to enemies, terrain, ore, or something else and an input that causes it to self destruct or deactivate. I can see it being part of a setup where once stuck onto an ore deposit, automated drones will seek it out to gather resources until the ore around it is collected and it drops to some non-ore terrain, whereupon it gives an output that matches its deactivation input.

  50. A quality of life module! 👍 Can the amount of outputs be changed with a slider within the module so there are less modules in the bar?
