  1. With the customizable starts in sandbox we could recreate her Or at least we should be able to

  2. I once had a nest free island -- except for one, exactly in the middle. Niche gets weird at times. I'd love if they would fix the first island in story mode, aswell. Nothing worse than not finding a permanent nest and leaving only one incompatible immunity heir, if any.

  3. Okay, I know what you're thinking, but I have a very good reason for not putting on a head, tail, or coloring the legs: I wanted the full focus to be on the body! XD You will most definitely still have a tail and head and colored limbs, I just wanted to focus on the body. Speaking of the body, though, let me first focus on the actual main body then I'll get to the wings: The body is broken up into three sections. The top section of the body is very fluffy and puffy, similar to that of the Big Body, and takes on the dominant fur color. The middle section is smooth and takes on the recessive fur color. The bottom section is also smooth but matches the top section in taking on the dominant fur color. The middle and bottom sections are supposed to be round/cylindrical like a butterfly's body; I did my best to get that kind of impression. The middle section is where the top wings connect, and the bottom section is where the bottom wings connect, though since they're butterfly wings they look like it's all one big wing, so I guess it doesn't really matter when it comes to actually making the models for the game. XD Now for the wings attached to the body: Butterfly wings can vary from bottom [facing toward you] to top [when you view them from the back], so as a result I decided to draw three different types of butterfly wing. All of them offer +4 flying and you can fly with this body, but no swooping. Having two bird wings instead would get you a lot farther a lot faster, of course, but flying for this body is more or less a background ability; it's what you'll see below that's the real stars of the show. Type 1 [at the top with the gradient]: +1 attractiveness, +1 distasteful appearance, +1 poisonous [when being attacked] Type 2 [bottom left green one]: +2 camouflage +1 attractiveness Type 3 [bottom right yellow one]: +2 intimidate +1 distasteful appearance .::EDIT::. I figured it would be best to show a full body complete nicheling with this body as an example, so below I will do just that! Type 1: Type 2: Type 3: .::EDIT2::. I had the idea to draw out variations of the wings, so here we go! I included as many fur colors, horn colors, and eye colors as I could to make these Type 1 Variations! But first, a little info: The body's midsection is the recessive fur color, and the top and bottom are the dominant fur color. The wing's outline is the same as the horn color. The wing's semi-transparent gradient goes like this: The color closest to the body is the recessive eye color and the color closest to the tip of the wing is the dominant eye color. I replaced Violet with Pink because I like it better that way. Besides, pink stands out more. The wing's spots go like this: The big spots are the complimentary color to the dominant eye color [example: Blue-Orange, pink-yellow], and the little spots are the complimentary color to the recessive eye color. Now on to the wings!! Just the wings by themselves: The wings with the body outlines: [because I've been told these are easier to see] The full examples of wing variants with colored bodies: And for flavor, here we have an example of an Albino and a Melanistic nicheling:

  4. Interesting take on the crab claw being specific for crabbits, but if that’s the case I think I would only pair that ability with +2 strength. Other takes on crab claws can be found here:

  9. I know. I hate Cracker Jaw. The prettiest Eve that I had was the most recent who had Peacock tail. But even she was just plain Dark Brown. Thought the first time I got one with double claw. Also Stinky tail. And her colors were pretty too.

  14. Soooo @NyssaDerp made a tribe where everybody can help. Then I thought... what if we made a tribe where people would take turns playing it? So, here we are! How it works: I start the tribe and play until Adam dies While playing through Adam's life, I document what happens to the tribe here Once Adam dies, I immediately share the savefile (preferably before using up any moves) (I'll try and have one or more babies be born the same day Adam dies) Another person decides they want to be the one to continue playing the tribe. They will reply here first, before opening up the savefile and choosing one of the most recent children born to be their patriarch/matriarch. The person will play through the patriarch/matriarch's life, documenting what happens during their 'reign'. The person will try their best to have several children born before their patriarch/matriarch dies. Once that creature dies, the person will stop playing and share the played savefile. The cycle will repeat from steps 4-8! The tribe will go on and on until (hopefully) the tribe gets to Home Island. You do not have to continue doing anything that the person before you tried to achieve if you don't want to. If nobody keeps playing, I'll try and help too. Notes: If no creatures have been born recently when another person picks up the save, they are allowed to try and breed a new creature as soon as they start playing. Please, PLEASE don't get mad if someone trashes whatever you'd been doing when they continue the cycle. When a person picks their patriarch/matriarch, the creature must be no older than a teen. ALSO: FAMILY TREEEE! Please update it as you play Got it? Now, let me get started! Introducing: Adam! After growing up, Adam finally finds his mate: Eve! oh, goodie. Our first glitch! There seems to be a tile that we can't step on. I remember playing on Story mode and getting this glitch on this second island. The furst baby! But he's shortsighted Off to a new land! Welcome, Peaches! You're shortsighted too (i put Eyes in Adam and Eve's mutation menus!) Why, hello! You shall be renamed Kira! Kira and Eve both have Adam's children. (Peter+Pan=Petan) (Tiger+Lily=Tigrily) It is Adam's final day, and Kira and Eve sit on their nests, expecting their children. finally, the day passes, and Adam is no more. however, his mates conceive his children. So, the new Patriarch/Matriarch of the tribe must either be Petan, Tigrily, Kokonut, or Jonas. Here's the savefile!: Slot4.nichesave

  16. While I was attempting to start @Brokenshock hunger games challenge, I came across this, I am so tempted to play like this because I was technically not cheating, but i'm gonna start a new save, was it due to the fact they spawned in water, or was it a very odd rare glitch?

  17. Unsure if this has been mentioned yet, but I would like to put in my ideas of what could possibly be added to the underwater world. The Underwater World is super barren right now, only being able to find seaweed, clams, rocks, fish, worms, and leeches. I have a few ideas of things that could be added to make this world much more lively. ISLANDS Basically, there'd be islands with a ton more water and lots more places to swim compared to your average big island. The island would be small, maybe the size of tiny green, while the rest of the island would be places that can be swam through by Nichelings. Take the grass mingle island for example, cut that to the size of tiny green but leave all that extra island space to the water. Picture example: PREDATORS I know that the Razorina is already somewhat of a predator, but they only attack you if you are bleeding. How about, for somewhat of a challenge, have a predator like the Bearyna that will attack you for no other purpose than food. It would have similar behavior like the Bearyna but obviously be different. This creature's name would be the Sharkidile, a cross between a shark and a crocodile. You could also find a mother with a baby and tame the baby for its genes, just like the Bearyna! Here's a picture of what I think it would look like, sorry it's kinda sloppy I rushed it: Genes you could get from a friendly Sharkidile: - Sharkidile Snout (2+ fishing, 1+ defense, 1+ smelling) - Water body (2+ swimming, 1+ scentless, underwater breathing) - Fin tail (2+ swimming, -1 Cold resistance) - Sharkidile Claw (2+ fishing, 1+ attack, 1+ swimming) - Sharkidile Eyes (2+ underwater sight, 1+ dry land sight) - Yellow Eyes - New Pattern (Overcoat color and undercoat color, affects camouflage in water, +2 camouflage) FOOD Definitely a lot more food needs to be added. More types of fish and things similar to the berry bushes on land. Examples in pics below: I'm still currently in the process of thinking of things that could be added to the underwater world of Niche. If I do get more ideas, then be sure to look for for a part 2 to this idea! Please feel free to suggest anything.

  19. you could try going right until you get to whale island, and theres a chance you can get to crossing from there. if not, go to grass mingle and go north and if theres no northern port right, because thats how i got to home island

  20. Did the males all have fluffy tail? I'm not sure if messing with the spawn rate command gave me weird animals (on the first save Adam's family respawned mostly with webbed paw) or if it was changed. Some better genes are always nice.

  23. This is only a really short update, and the next one will probably come next week. It's Tourmaline's last day, and since he only has daughters (six daughters. SIX daughters and no son) and the toxic body/wing lineage is at risk, he needs to find someone to mate with, in hopes of leaving a son after his death. (Also, once I get a tablet and become good at drawing nichelings, I will totally make some fanart of him, his mate and his children). For the sake of his lineage, he decides to mate with the young double digging paw Islais. Tourmaline's last day begins, and he passes away, next to his sister Amber and Islais, the mother of his last, unborn child. Amber deicides to use the nest of the Rekola and Tourmaline. Rekola, who still mourns her mate, gladly lets her have it. Also, Islais sits on the nest that she was born in, now waiting to have her first, and probably only child. Meanwhile, poor Siisana has been stunned by a coconut. Ralame decides to have another child, since only her firstborn carries the recessive bearyena hindlegs. Due to her and her mates low fertility, she has problems with getting pregnant, and doesn't succeed this day. The next day begins, and with him two young lives. Tourmaline's last child turns out to be a sickly daughter called Rakoana with bad fertility and only a recessive toxic body. On the other hand, Amber's first son Rovanta turns out to carry the velvet paw. His mother is stunned by his beauty (and I am too). Two days later, Amber gives birth to her second son. Similar to her, he also caries a wing and a velvet paw, but still got the derp snout of his dad. Since he has a recessive toxic body and a wing, he could be the male to save the toxic body lineage. The albinistic wanderer appears again, and gets attacked by our purple toxic body, Anareko (yes, I need to look the names up) At the same time, Siisana finds some rabbils..doing a polonaise? Our hybrids get their fourth, last and perfect baby. She doesn't have the recessive bearyena ears, but she has the hindlegs we needed, and just like her brother, she shows the poisonous fangs of her grandfather Tourmaline. Siisana reaches her last day, surrounded by the rabbils she loved to hunt. A bearyena appears, alarming the hybrids, who run in his direction as fast as they can. He gets attacked and takes some damage, but not enough for him to die. Amber gets her third son (if she continues to have boys, then...I dunno, I get angry?) Apart from his gender (and tail), he's living perfection, and has some beautiful blue eyes. The albinistic wanderer dies, after he tried to steal some berries. He messed with the wrong tribe. Anareko decides to continue her father's lineage, and takes her cousin Kirnu (Amber's second baby) as her future mate. I have no clue why I took this screenshot, but this moment was worth it for some reason, so here he is: Short notice: I really like having my playthrough here, because I can see what happened over time. It's kinda like a detailed family tree. This is why I will attempt a playthrough in Story mode, and post him in another topic. This was some shameless advertising, if you'd like some advertising too, you can buy this spot for only twenty food per letter.

  24. The Fire and Ice Twins! Because it's what I got They were born to a pair of warriors who were part of an expedition to scope out new territory. I haven't played their save in a while so idk...Firepaw is bold and mischievous, while Icepaw is laid back and a bit aloof.

  26. It would be a horn gene that’s a more exaggerated angler fish light (more droopy and a bigger light that glowed different colors based on the horn color). It would lure fish and bunnies towards you, but could rarely also bring predators upon the creature who has the angler light. Unlocked by finding a wander with the light (only spawn in oceans). Stats: Lure +2 Distasteful Appearance -1 also drew a kinda terrible drawing on what it could look like.

  32. The biggest damn rifle I have ever seen. (Seen a lot, in the course of my job at the airport.) Their job, in essence, is to snipe for snipers. The one I recall refused to let the rifle out of his sight, and our supervisor let him back into the screening area (pretty unusual to permit) so he could watch us screen his luggage. Huge rifle, optics, ammunition, some of it color-coded, flak jacket and armor plates, and a notebook with the code phrases for that week, which I'm pretty sure I didn't have clearance to read. Checked luggage isn't accessible in flight, so firearms here are permitted with a declaration to the airlines, and by meeting whatever criteria that airline might also impose. (Probably require a license and such.) Ammunition is also okay, if declared and packaged in specific ways to protect it from accidental detonation. (Such as accidental contact with a primer if things shift in flight.)

  33. I mean it could be bad luck but there really shouldn't be the option to have a zero chance of a nest generating. At least that's what I think. As I said it isn't really an issue because the nest flowers give enough I was just really surprised.

  34. A gift from the goddess is brought to the tribe in the form of a healthy kit born with double digging paws. She is named Salvation Before he passes, StarSpot asks Nukirduk if he would do her the honour of having a kit with her. His gifts have helped the tribe collect food in ways that they could not have dreamt of, and she hopes their child will be blessed with the ability to continue his work Meanwhile, Faith's Chosen and Isis have found themselves quite an adventure as they search for food, and though Isis still carries CloudStream's kit, she finds herself growing fonder of Faith's Chosen, allowing herself to dream of a family made of love, not for survival Through his sickness claims his life, Nukirduk does have a moment to meet his daughter, a perfect creature sharing of his wings, if not his strength. In his last moments, he suggests she be named SwiftCurrent, in honour of StarSpot's parents, who brought her to this place and thus held a hand in the birth of his daughter. With only a day before her own passing, StarSpot asks Salvation to look after and care for SwiftCurrent, though she knows it to be a heavy burden for one so young. Though aware that winter is fast approaching and they should be focusing on finding food, Faith's Chosen's curiosity about the creature he could only just make out in the frozen glacier was too strong, and so he freed the strange creature, with its funny face and strange, hard tail. Upon the birth of Isis' first child, Faith's Chosen hears a call for help from a nearby creature, drained of energy and in mortal peril Though it goes against his every instinct, he calls for Isis to leave the baby to its fate as he was, and help save this wanderer.

  39. Raw meat from any animal is dangerous for humans to eat. I don't really know anything about this topic, but I'd assume this is compared to meats humans eat normally, like beef and pork. If I'm right, then of course human meat isn't going to be quite as safe to eat. The animals humans eat on a regular basis have been bred for a very long time specifically for our consumption, whereas humans obviously haven't While I can understand concerns about this being in a game played by children, it wouldn't quite be the same as giving them a game encouraging human cannibalism. I honestly can't see a game about animals, especially one that doesn't have any graphic details of gore or even blood, doing a 12 year old any psychological damage or whatever

  41. also i would like to have rabbils, maybe they could be sand-coloured instead in the desert? also, i think we would need atleast 3 new animals: a balance bear of the desert, a walrus deer of the desert (this is the fenmel; the animal lilytuft made), and the arctic ramfox of the desert. i think the snake-lion (liake? snaion?) would make a good "arctic ramfox". it could live in prides like a lion, and hunt the rabbils for food. it could be a snake, with a lions mane, and alot larger fangs, with maybe the fluff on a lion's tail on the end of it's body? it would give 10 food when killed, and is venomous when it attacks, but only deals one damage. and the balance bear would have to be a mixture of the most formidable animals. maybe a thorny devil and some kind of scorpion? it would be huge, the size of a balance bear maybe. also the coyote/ warthog is cool for a bearynea replacement! i wouldnt imagine bearyneas living in the desert, so that would be cool! the concept art you did is cool too, i like the way you combined the two animals!

  42. I really only attack rouge males after they make my whole tribe pregnant, and baby bearynas, I always invite them in. And, I never attack wanderers and had to kill only 1 dodomingo because I only had one tribe mate and they were starving.

  45. I've noticed in my recent time playing, that sometimes the wanderers and rouge males seem to teleport off the visible area on my island, without any animation, and I can't find them in smelling or hearing vision modes.

  46. It's not that they're teleporting; It's just that they moved out of your sight/hearing/smelling range.

  47. Thanks for reporting. As far as I know, this only happens if you started the save file with versio 1.1.0, 1.1.1 or 1.1.2. For everybody who hasn't played on the preview branch this problem should not occur. So, I'll count this as fixed (We also made the system more solid for future versions, so this shouldn't happen again with new versions.)
